  1. Aww, that's some cute plush fish, Dinobot! P.S. Did you really get an empty Omega Red box?
  2. I don't know why, but Lady Liberty personally thanking Wade for saving America cracked me up.
  3. The ol' Multiverse just won't be the same without you, BHM. Just don't be a stranger, okay? And hope life treats you better down the line, Doc. (That goes the same for all the other boardies we've missed lately. )
  4. I liked the movie. Definitely one of the better Marvel Studios releases, makes me slightly more optimistic for when Captain America and The Avengers come out. Admittedly I was disappointed by the Hawkeye cameo after it got talked about so much, but I was pleasantly surprised at how likable a lot of the Asgardian characters were. And I definitely was not expecting this movie to make me sympathize with Loki of all people. Ditto. Heck, this movie was a veritable treasure trove of goofy one-liners. "I've got Xena, Jackie Chan and Robin Hood"
  5. Dangit, for a minute there I thought your were referring to Everyman HYBRID. Ahhhhh! Fandoms folding up on each other again! Head for the hills! Besides, Pinkie Pie being a minion of Loki makes way too much sense...
  6. Have a good birthday, Myte! Maybe the Minibar will be throwing you a surprise party soon
  7. I know I will (probably Conan AND the Flaming C at that) Good luck finding a Minimate-scaled xistera to go with that custom.
  8. Well, I just checked my calendar and it's not April 1st anymore... Color me morbidly curious.
  9. So... many... new characters... TRU wave... excuse me while I grab my oxygen. Welp, guess I can live without Crossbones, shame about Balder possibly becoming scalper bait though. I hope this means Arnim Zola and Beta Ray Bill have a shot at appearing in wave... 41? 42? I can't keep track anymore.
  10. I was genuinely shocked when I heard this news. In any case, Rest in Peace Ms. Sladen. Quite the lady you were.
  11. Just spotted this advance review from Empire Online. They say the movie's good. http://www.empireonline.com/reviews/reviewcomplete.asp?FID=134400 On a related note, there is a gigantic Thor billboard on the highway just outside our neighborhood. It's actually making me feel excited for this movie.
  12. What? Birthday already?! But I haven't even prepared my annual tribute of gold and Stealth Iron Man minimates yet! Oh, fine... Have a Happy Birthday Timbo
  13. Firstly, great photos BHM! Nice to actually be able to get a helpful visual comparison of these from my side of the globe. It is somewhat disappointing to hear the TARDIS is out of scale with Minimates (Danny, I feel you on that "Minimates are out of scale with most everything" comment ), the Daleks would have compensated for that but it looks like they're more of the short and dumpy side as well. I also can't get over how much that Character Building packaging reminds me of the packaging the C3 sets came in. They even look roughly the same size as the Superman Throne Room or Batmobile boxes. On a more inane note: My gosh, does the Minimate head transplant make a difference. Also, the Amy figure looks less like Amy and more like a red-haired Sarah Jane Smith.
  14. In my experience Stikfas accessories mostly err on the larger side of the 3" scale, so they'd already be too big for Minimates bar maybe some of the tinier accessories like the handguns and such. You'd also need to shave down the handles (like with Lego accessories) to make them fit a Minimate's grip. Hope this helps.
  15. I'll be honest, this particular April Fool's joke gave me a heart attack for a second Put me in the minority that prefers white text on a dark background like the old template. I personally find it easier to read that way, plus it gives me less eyestrain from my monitor.
  16. Holy crow! Incredible little touches Ivan!
  17. It's that time of year again! Time for my annual avatar change-up
  18. I'll just skip the niceties and say you're a sick man. Never thought a bunch of ninjas would make me go "Too much information!"
  19. Yay you! Good to hear you're making some headway at least There's just so much that's eerie about you posting this topic, Dinobot. Because it feels like I'm in almost the exact boat as you, and even worse is the fact that there must be hundreds, even millions of us feeling like this right now. I'm fresh out of college and still on the hunt on my first job. Like you I would have been perfectly happy just to get to write cute stories for the rest of my life. But to add insult to injury I also have to deal with a behavioral disorder and a turbulent home life, so I often feel like fate itself is periodically kicking me in the butt. Yeah, I'm in a bit of a soul-searching mood these days. But I'm still here, so I figured I might as well bite the bullet and give it my best shot anyway, even if it scares the crap out of me a lot of days At least you know we're all in this together now
  20. I still need to see the movie myself to make up my mind for it, though I am aware of the bad reviews streaming in. Let's just say I facepalmed the moment Women In Refrigerators came into effect. Dammit, Snyder.
  21. I'm guessing that whatever the real story is, it must be a very complicated catch-22 for everyone involved. In the meantime we're probably just going to be stuck waiting for DST to play trial and error with their Hulk mates until they get him right... or until the line ends The irony here is that Chuck has very recently admitted on record that sculpting is cheaper than tampos on some Minimates.
  22. Aww, maybe we should put up a "I Want To Make Minimate Comics But I Don't Have The Time Or Talent" support group I actually kinda like a bunch of those ideas, Trekker! Seconding the fun idea of playing out a whole little Minimate Cold War, maybe we can have Lex and Tony playing off each other while dipping back into arms dealing! Do share what other neat ideas you've had (don't worry, I won't steal any of them ) My stories usually dip too much in either slapstick comedy or that soap operatic romantic-tension-up-the-wazoo nonsense, I always get stuck when I attempt to write action.
  23. I had that problem too, but after some mucking about it appears the original table instructions TBT posted in the first post of the Wants/Haves thread still work. Just use the regular (column1)(/column1)(column2)(/column2) BB code (replace the parentheses with brackets) and it should work just fine.
  24. It's nice to know there's a healthy contingent of us aspiring comic-makers here in the Multiverse! Over the past few months I've read a ton of different styles of webcomics - some very short, some very long, all entertaining in their own uniquely fun or geeky way. The really good ones make it look easy, but I think there remain a couple of tips and tricks I've gathered about how they used to do their craft. So far I've gathered that a good webcomic takes a lot of dedication, really loving what you do, and baiting in new readers by keeping the updated quick and regular The little Minimate universe I cooked up in my head plays out mostly like a comedy webcomic, so expect it to play fast and loose with continuity with a mixture of one-off gags, longer mini-arcs and the odd recurring segment. Blade The Vampire Slayer is ideally going to be a recurring/semi-regular segment in my universe depending on how many supernatural monsters I can get him to go after (think a vampire version of Tom And Jerry ), with You're In The Wrong Movie possibly being a single "episode" from it. Fun With Character Variants is going to be much the same way, first it'll focus on the countless Spidey/Wolverine variants, then later sort out the more low-key Minimates that still have an inexplicable number of variants like Kirk from Star Trek or Ben Grimm (yes, I still can't live that down.) It's A Living is probably going to turn into a multi-part story arc, as I imagined this weird scenario in my head where Warren goes into the Shoulder Angel Labor Union or something
  25. Here's some more random ideas I just remembered: Starbuck and Starbuck What happens when the old and new Battlestar Galactica universes collide. Expect the interaction between the two Lee Adamas to become a running gag all throughout the comic. Blade The Vampire Slayer Given the existence of the Darkstalkers and Universal Monsters minimates (not to mention the vampire X-Men), this was bound to happen eventually. True Art Is Incomprehensible A new modern-art gallery opens in Minimate Land. Basically just an excuse for me to show off my miscellaneous Kidrobot figures. Hammer Down Set during the Dark Reign period in comic continuity, Justin Hammer hassles Norman Osborn about intellectual property rights. Secret Invasion Redux The Skrulls come back for revenge with a slightly different strategy. Another multi-part arc. Dear Diamond Select Captain America takes the helm in this regular segment as the community clamors for some much-needed characters to be made in Minimate form. Something something Ryan Reynolds Still a work-in-progress, but definitely expect Deadpool, Hal Jordan and Silken Floss to be involved at some point. The Fedora League Renee and The Spirit start their own detective agency while ranting about the lack of an official Vic Sage minimate. Meet the Hunkels In my picfic continuity Ma Hunkel is Chef Duff's eccentric mom, while he's a struggling up-and-coming chef. "Wait, he's your brother?!" David North and Betsy Braddock are dating. She introduces him to her twin brother Brian. Awkward questions ensue. Matt is a Man-Ho Elektra comes to grips with Matt's embarrassingly long succession of ex-girlfriends. In this continuity Matt's also dated both Black Widow and the Magdalena. Fun With Character Variants Basically me trying to milk humor out of the numerous Spider-Man and Iron Man minimates we currently have. It's A Living Warren Worthington III gets a part-time job as a shoulder angel. You're In The Wrong Movie An offshoot of my Blade The Vampire Slayer idea above. Selene is involved. Harry Osborn's Love Life Exactly what it says on the tin. In my continuity Harry has dated dated She-Hulk, Harley Quinn and Kate Kane (before he knew she was a lesbian) all to comically disastrous results. He eventually gets better luck when he gets set up on a date with Mary Marvel. Speaking of Mary Marvel... What happens when you get her in the same room as Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel and the other Ms. Marvel? The Inevitable Valentine's Day Strip Dr. Doom and Namor all one-upping each other over giving a then-single Sue Storm the perfect Valentine, until Reed Richards one-ups them both by quoting xkcd.
