  1. The weird thing is with all these marvel characters is that up until about 20 years ago I would be able to talk 'Marvel' with just about anyone. I then became a lapsed comic-fan only to return about 3 or 4 years ago . So many things are 'fresh' to me & some of it is WTF?. The Inhumans are yet another band of guys who eventually got their own mag which sit lingering in my 'cave' although anything 'Ultimate etc.' & I am totally ...lost. I am somewhat amazed there isn't a 'comics Want/Have' here but I guess there are perhaps other 'Comic 'Verses' online?
  2. As a casual comic fan of the last 15-20 years, I could only name a few Inhumans. I'll have to check out the latest TPB, but I'm not sure there's enough carrying power to make a boxset. They should focus on more popular grous. Like Power Pack-that group has sucessful four-pack written all over it.
  3. Who are you talking about anyway? Yeah, apparently my brain has been running on a dismal logic capacity lately so for all intents and purposes I'll just say I liked the whole TPB. (Standout chapters for me though were the ones centered on Triton and the young Inhumans and "Window to the Soul.") I'm lousy at reading comics.
  4. Well, Black Bolt is one-half of the central conflict in War of Kings, so if THAT isn't a golden opportunity for DST to release him then I don't know what is. Okay, I just bought the Marvel Knights TPB of the Inhumans at our LCS while I was picking up waves 23 and 24 (someone beat me to all the War Machines though ) and I just finished reading the whole thing after about four hours. (Damn my reading speed ) Seriously, now I'm hinging on the remote possibility they'll make mates of the Young Inhumans too. Oh, and I was blown away by the writing on this series. Makes me wonder why more people aren't familiar with these characters.
  5. I think the likelyhood of an Inhumans set showing up is pretty slim, however I would be shocked if Black Bolt wasn't in one of the next two waves that they announce. I think they really missed the timing on not releasing him around the time that he was mildly in the spotlight. Maybe they're waiting until they can pull off his costume perfectly.
  6. I would buy a Inhumans box set in a heartbeat!!! Black Bolt is one of the top three minimates I've wanted to be made (Black Panther & Hercules being the other two) that hasn't yet. And if not a boxset, then maybe incorporate at least Black bolt into a Wave 29 set: #29 Hercules-Kang Black Panther-Klaw Black Bolt-Medusa Black Bolt-Maximus (chase)
  7. I perhaps get the impression we'll be seeing them from you ......sooner? I have definitely considered it! I have two lists - one for minimates that I expect DST to make someday, and the other for minimates I never expect to see. I have Inhumans on the former list, and I tend to make more customs from the latter list. With that said, sometimes I can't wait for the official versions, so I just go ahead and make them anyways (see sig for details ), and other times the minimates I never expect to see from DST get made, like the AIM Agent.
  8. The current conspicuous lack of any Inhumans Minimates right now makes me cry. A future wave/exclusive two-pack of Black Bolt and Medusa is a MUST. (Hey, even in the comics they were nigh inseparable.) I guess Crystal could stand alone in a pack either with Lockjaw or with any of the guys she's been "romantically linked" to (i.e. Johnny Storm, Quicksilver... Ronan the Accuser?) Everybody else can probably go into the *hypothetical* Inhumans Royal Family boxset along with a variant of Black Bolt or something. (Battle-damaged, Skrull-replaced... "King of the Kree" armor?) And yes, question mark please.
  9. Yes Yes Yes, more than any other characters I need the Inhumans, i will happily buy any other new characters they make but I NEED the Royal Family! Make them now DST. So it is written so it shall be done.
  10. Eh, the Wolvie Through The Ages naked... Wolvie is probably our closest best chance at Weapon X. Not unless DST labels him as something specifically non-Weapon X, like "Feral Wolvie Womping Through the Congo" or something. Then again I wouldn't mind another surprise release from DST (*cough*Inhumans*cough*) at this point...
  11. I'm still holding out for Mar-Vell and my cherished Inhumans. And also possibly a new boxset to tie in with the current Dark Reign/Dark Avengers/War of Kings event. Probably won't be a concrete possibility until the end of the year though.
  12. Here are my nominees: BEST MINIMATE 1. Invaders Captain America 2. Movie Iron Man Mark III (Marvel 21) 3. Back In Black Spiderman (Marvel 24) OK, first of all, I'm mostly into Marvel. Invaders Cap is close to perfection. The new shield holding strips are what I always wanted to see. Only drawback on Cap is, that they used one of these new masks on him which comes with parts of his face. I don't like that and think that should be changed. Somehow. That Iron Man is just outstanding. My #3 choice, Back in Black Spidey, might be a surprise for some of you, comparing him to all the other new mates, but I really like the way he's designed, do love the new mask thingy – which works perfect on him - and I always wanted to have a black dressed Spidey. Besides the out of stock wave 2 one that is. WORST MINIMATE 1. Prof. Hulk (Marvel 20) 2. Detention Marty (BTTF 3) 3. First Appearance Hulk (First Avengers Box Set) It's all hulky and bulky mates. There are several debates why Hulk doesn't come out as perfect as he might. The duck feet are just one aspect. The arms might be the biggest problem. Marty on the other hand is just a boring and completely unnecessary mate in that box set. BEST PACKAGING The window boxes (Marvel waves 23 & 24) I really like these new boxes a lot, so I vote for them! The designs of the box-of-four packagings (i.e. Invaders) are nice too, but I don't really like the way these boxes come without any window. BEST BOX SET/WAVE The Dollars Trilogy These come with fantastic details and accessories. Best MovieMates so far! (Maybe they'll be topped next year by the Ghostbusters mates!) WORST BOX SET/WAVE Civil War Box Set OK, that is a tough decision, I know. There may be worse boxes or waves (i.e. Star Trek as far as I read here), but I took this one, because I really think the Civil War series had way more exciting characters to minimaterize. Nitro might be an important character for the story, but he's pretty boring as a minimate in my eyes. And Iron Spider Man without the extra arms is just a waste. Civil War Iron Man should be in the box, I agree, but I don't really like the way he turned out. Way too tall compared to others and somehow clumsy. There were better Iron Men released this year. Only battle damaged Cap with the bloody shield and the handcuffs is really well done. So this decision is more because the box set failed to live up to my great expectations. SEXIEST MINIMATE 1. SDCC08 Red Dress Six 2. Marisol (A Fistful of Dollars Box Set) 3. Marlena Moreau and Mirror Uhura in a cat fight, uhm, tie on third place (Star Trek Mirror Mirror Box Set) That Six is just wow. Marisol is a sleeping beauty in her poor outfit and Moreau und Uhura with their miniskirts are just ... I mean, for 2“ plastic toys! BIGGEST SLEEPER 1. Chef Duff 2. Showdown Monco (For A Few Dollars More Box Set ) 3. Lobo (DC 7) Chef Duff is the perfect sleeper in my eyes. I don't really know who he really is, but the whole bunch of accessories he comes with makes this package perfect for customs. Monco is superb and the best mate in the whole Dollar Trilogy in my eyes. And Lobo is a surprice because of his awesome and unique accessories. IF ONLY... Wolverine! No, wait... There are a few comic book characters I'd love to see (i.e. The Inhumans), but since there is the possibility we're going to see more MovieMates in the near future, I'd love to see Kurosawa's Seven Samurai minimaterized! FAVORITE CUSTOM 1. Stan Lee by Skullbuster 2. Stratos by The Crippler 3. The Watcher by Luke314pi There are many awesome customs done in 2008 so this was a hard one, but I definitely did want to vote in this category. I chose three different artists even when people like Luke have a whole truckload full of fantastic customs that are worth mentioning. It was really close, but these are my favorites and I do love their details, creative potential and uniqueness. Kudos to all the busy customizing bees out there anyway. BEST ACCESSORY 1. Cap's backpack shield holding things. 2. The new masks some Marvel heroes come with. 3. The Human Torch and Iron Man flight stands. WORST ACCESSORY 1. Duck feet. 2. The framed pictures that came with some BSG characters. 3. Some extra hands several mates came with. I did already mention the feet-problem in the worst mates category. The framed pics are a complete waste in my eyes. They might be a little funnier, if the printed pics in it would a) fit into the frames and would show minimaterized characters and not real poeple. The extra hands – i.e. the key-holding hand and card-holding hands from BSG, the moth-holding hand from SOTL – are a nice idea but most of them are just unnecessary. BUT there are others that I do really, really love, like the cigar-holding hand from BSG's Starbuck. BEST VARIANT War Machine Mark II (Marvel 23) Very nice details here and I love – even if I don't own either one of them – the fact, that it's not just a change of heads – Starks / Rhodes – but different sculpted armors as well. Well done, DST! WORST VARIANT General Ross (Marvel 22) In my eyes, there aren't really bad variants, but some, that just aren't worth of being one. The General is a good example for that, I guess. BEST IRON MAN OF '08 1. Movie Mark III (Marvel 21) 2. Movie Mark I (Marvel 21) 3. Mark III Armor (Through the Ages box set) The only reason why the highly detailed (look at these writings on the armor!!!) movie Mark I is just on second place is, that it's just a nice artifact in the history of Stark's armors and not an actual used one. Long live subjectivity! The Movie Mark III has this unbelievable paint and the removable mask which make this version outstanding. So far. EDIT: And thanks for doing this, Cappy!
  13. Wait, so is this vote just for adding new figures to the 3.75 line or for Hasbro Marvel toys in general? (I don't even buy Hasbro toys that much, but I'm a sucker for these vote-type things. Still it seems off-putting that there are some must-have characters grouped with the semi-obscure ones in this lineup. I personally would be tempted to vote for all the Inhumans but seeing Mystique, Luke Cage and Storm in there really throws me off. Also, how hilarious would it be if they made Stepford Cuckoos figures? )
  14. What would shock me? DC mates. A plastic, articulated Maximate Galactus and Sentinel. A set with Electro, Lizard, Vulture, Six-Armed Spidey, Morbius and Jackal. And another set with Kang, Falcon, Black Panther, and some other big choices of mine. Indy mates of Madman, Hellboy, Savage Dragon. An Inhumans set. Not just Black Bolt. The core family of 'em.
  15. Control art, maybe? Surely even without War of Kings coming up, DST had considered Inhumans minimates at some point? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles then! Uh, Robocop? Disney? Sherlock Holmes? David Bowie? God help us all if the "shocking" news really is the cancellation of BSG and Star Trek. Maybe they're finally releasing the wave 15 Ghost Rider minimates/s (pffft, yeah right! ) Or an epic new boxset with six minimates in it. Or a limited-edition fully-articulated Maximate. Or Jubilee.
  16. I'm rooting for a War of Kings boxset. DST has released boxsets to tie in with major events in Marvel comics (Marvel Zombies, Civil War, Secret Invasion) but I also keep thinking about their past decision to make boxsets of off-kilter teams like the Defenders and Invaders, which at the time surprised a lot of collectors due to the variety of unique yet seminal characters in them (i.e. Namor, Bucky, Dr. Strange, android Human Torch). I see some good odds for a War of Kings boxset for the following reasons: -It's a current/upcoming comic crossover event -It's a golden opportunity for DST to make minimates of characters we might otherwise never see in a regular wave, like the Starjammers and Inhumans (am still hoping DST would change their minds and release a Darkhawk minimate ) A Dark Reign boxset can only work if it features enough SIGNIFICANTLY unique characters/variations of established characters. A Dark Avengers lineup, for example, can only work with Iron Patriot, Moonstone/Ms. Marvel, Noh-Varr and Ares since they're all pretty distinctive looks we don't have in Minimate form yet, otherwise the rest of the team (Daken, Gargan Black Spidey, Bullseye/Hawkeye, Sentry) are too similar to their equivalent versions to be considered feasible/viable. No offense, but the little kids DST currently market Minimates toward will probably NEVER appreciate the difference between Daken and Wolverine.
  17. Latest customs first up is Hope from the Cable books out at the moment (the mutant messia) thought i better make her since i have got both Cable and Bishop from the book, so any way................... she is basically a choped down minimate everything has been scaled down apart from her head and her hip joint bit, put her next to my Cable mate just so you can see the difference in size. her legs and arms still move a bit but only at the original socket joints. next custom...... Black Bolt from the inhumans, decided to make back bolt when the war of kings story came out and have been trying to work out how to make the thing on his head for ages, in the end i opted for a modified nova helemt a i think it looks really good rest of him is just a painted black minimate, trying to make as many of the inhumans as i can but now just wainting for bits to come from ebay, so will hopefully post pics soonish. btw thanks for the comments everyone whos posted tata.
  18. We need anything Inhumans, Thunderbolts (hell I'd even take the Dark Avengers) or more cosmic characters. God... we more subjects to talk about.
  19. I kind of like the team concepts out there. Inhumans or Eternals would top my lists for the next wave.
  20. I hope we get a classic Nova too. All the classic Inhumans. Quasar. Adam Warlock. Captain Mar-vell (and a Kree suited chase in the green and white), Kang, Immortus, Diablo, Dragon Man, Falcon, Black Widow, Swordsman, Black Panther, Yellowjacket, Hydra goons, Dum Dum Dugan (for a new SHIELD body), Odin, the Destroyer, Fandral, Volstagg, Hogun, Heimdall, Sif, Balder, Hela, the Executioner, the Enchantress, Beta Ray Bill, Ulik, the Wrecker and the Wrecking Crew, the Scorpion, Morbius, the Lizard, the Vulture, Electro, the Crime Master, the Beetle (classic), Dracula, Baron Mordo, Dormammu, Baron Zemo, the Melter, Radioactive Man, the Black Knight (good and bad versions), Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, the Mandarin, Iron Man Space Armor and Deep Sea Armor, Warlord Krang, Vashti, Lady Dorma, Attuma, Crossbones, Diamondback, the Watcher, the Moleman and a moleoid, and even Rama Tut. Whew. And that's just for starters! Edit: Can't forget Mantis, the Grim Reaper, Powerman (evil), Batroc, a remake of Iron Fist and Power Man, Betty Brant and Robbie Robertson, Aunt May and Uncle Ben, a new JJ Jameson, Liz Allan, Flash Thompson, Harry Osborn, the Prowler, Will O the Wisp, Stegron, the Looter, classic Gaurdians of the Galaxy, Annihilus, Blastaar the Living Laser and Puppet Master!
  21. Possible future waves remind me of how the previous Minimate waves were released: were all of them tied in with a Specific Marvel comic/movie release or were they sorta random? The release of the Apocalypse minimate didn't seem to coincide with any current comic storylines, but others seemed to (the Captain America/Nick Fury pack seemed to coincide with Civil War while the Havok/Polaris one seemed to lead up to the Vulcan storylines, not to mention the War of Kings lead-up... I could be wrong on any of these, of course) The way I see it, there are three different rationales DST would follow with regards to future waves: 1. A random (or as we would colloquially call it, a chop suey) assortment, which would encompass some of the essential/most prominent Marvel characters of any era. This is the best chance to release those much-wanted classic Spidey villains like Lizard, Vulture, etc, not to mention semi-obscure X-Men like Longshot, Jubilee or Forge (hey, you'll never know) 2. A tie-in with an upcoming Marvel event like a movie or comic crossover. As far as comic crossovers go the two biggest ones would be Dark Reign and War of Kings. Dark Reign would be a nice opportunity to release sets of Dark Avengers or the Dark Illuminati (i.e. The Hood and female Loki), while War of Kings would be a prime time for sets of the Starjammers (including a Lilandra or Rachel Gray minimate), the Inhumans or Vulcan 3. A combination of the two, which would be a good opportunity for the absolutely out-of-left-field WTF sets (think Marvel equivalents of Lobo/Ambush Bug, like... Alpha Flight or something) Either approach works fine as long as they don't go crazy with the ridiculously obscure selections... I would probably hate getting a girl Loki before even getting a classic Avengers character like Falcon or Black Widow. And DST would be crazy not to release Inhumans minimates in time for War of Kings (the Wolverine Origins wave looks like a good sign that DST has finally learned its lesson with regards to release dates)
  22. If you go read the classic Kirby/Lee stories from Fantastic Four, you'll want those characters I mentioned and more. The Inhumans, for starters.
  23. Just when you think you've gotten through to the kids... My thought exactly. and i thought i posted too much. Anyway, this'll be great. While i'm not one for Kang, i am so questioning for Cap Britain, Inhumans, and quite possible Noir mates. Sure, it'll probably only last a month, but those are some really great costumes, especially Noir Spidey. Jim Lee era X-Men costumes would be nice, too. And, if they ignore our Q&A posts, i'll have to pester Chuck about BSG A LOT. And talk to the artists, whom i admire so much.
  24. AMEN!! Kang for president While you're at it, ask if they're planning on doing Minimates of Vulcan, the Starjammers or the Inhumans now that the War of Kings crossover is coming up soon. I want a Black Bolt minimate so badly. YEAH! Inhumans too!
  25. AMEN!! Kang for president While you're at it, ask if they're planning on doing Minimates of Vulcan, the Starjammers or the Inhumans now that the War of Kings crossover is coming up soon. I want a Black Bolt minimate so badly.
