  1. Hey! I'm not dead again! So, currently I'm working on a huge commission order, so I'll be posting like, 50 customs soonish. Besides that I've been looking at/experimenting with some new stuff for my customs, so hopefully I'll have something to show for that eventually. anywho, in the meantime there's a contest! And I love contests! So I did this... Hal Jordan's life has been rough. At a young age he witnessed the death of his father, only to grow up working for the company that created the faulty aircraft that caused his death. His reckless behavior at work has cause him to lose his job, and his advances on the love of his life, Carol Ferris, are constantly rejected. And to top it all off, he's started going gray. Hal started to think that he would never be able to get out of this great depression, but one day, after witnessing an alien spaceship crash to the Earth, he found out he was right. The horribly depressed looking alien recognizing Jordan as a man of great sadness, the injured alien passed to Jordan his blue power ring and energy battery or "lantern" which charged the ring. Jordan has since found himself part of one of six groups that wield light from the emotional spectrum: The Blue Lantern Corps. As the Blue Lantern of sector 2814, it is Hal's responsibility to ensure the spread of sadness throughout the galaxy with the help of his empowered tears, while assisting, and sometimes battling the other 5 lantern groups: Happiness, Anger, Fear, Disgust, and Surprise! -------------------------------- So I always kinda wished there was an alternate universe where the various color lanterns make sense...like at all. Maybe I'm crazy, I just don't think willpower or greed count as emotions. So in this universe the lanterns represent simpler things like happiness and sadness. I figured the rings would take your dominant emotion and turn it up to 11. The Orange Lanterns represent happiness, and are so freaking cheerful it's annoying. I think Guy Gardner might be one of them. The Red Lanterns are pretty much the same. The Yellow Lanterns don't instill fear, they're fearful themselves. Of everything. The Green Lanterns are filled with disgust at everything around them, considering themselves better than anyone. And the mysterious Pink Lanterns are constantly in a state of surprise, which for most others would turn into one of the other emotions, this allows them to harness and use the light of the other lanterns. So, yeah. That's that.

  3. I have to say, the thing I love most of all about that, is the half cape.
  4. I really had forgotten something was wrong with how the page looked Got me all "Facebook Redesign" worried.
  5. I've seen an impressive trench coat made from a Guy Gardner coat and a sculpted piece for the lower half. You could probably also use a slightly modified dress piece, unfortunately I don't recall who made it... If I were making this, I would do the first look. Use the Gardner coat/skirt combo, either just paint a blank mask or sculpt one for the wrappings over a clear head, and have interchangeable clear pieces like hands for alternate looks. And BHM is right, Ivan deserves a medal.
  6. Of the bunch I was most interested in Arthur, Dormammu, Amaterasu, and Taskmaster. Given my habits, out of those I probably wouldn't customize Arthur (might have to buy 2) Oh, and Ryu, I would have bought Ryu. Just cause the sculpted gi made it look like he'd like some
  7. Oh man, totally just figured out what I want to do now
  8. I will attempt to be in, though I have no ideas right now.
  9. I think my problem with this movie, based on that trailer, is that it looks like it's gonna be just as good as the first 3. I like the first 3, quite a bit, but I just think there's a new standard for Marvel movies ever since Iron Man, and the X-Men ones don't stand up. And this just really looks like a montage of scenes that could have come from any of the past 3 X-Men movies (some of which did) just with yellow on their costumes. Still, I won't complain about getting Minimates. EDIT: Except Magneto. It looks like he got the memo about new Marvel movies, and he's bad ass because of it.
  10. I worked there for 3 days, so clearly I'm a pro. They were big into everyone doing their part when I was there. Basically, no matter your position, if there was a turd on the floor, would you clean it up, or is that below you? Also, in a group interview, they had activities like "Go on the store floor, bring back a toy, and explain how you would sell it" and 'Build a small model out of these Legos, then describe it and price it." Nobody else in the group had any idea how horribly expensive Legos were. Good luck!
  11. No Minimate grails for me. I only have a handful of Minimates in my collection that I will never customize anyways. Otherwise, I've been dying to pick up a ThreeA WWRP Bramble, but they seem hard to come by.
  12. My votes are in! It was really tough to choose. One thing that I think could use clarification: Are the box sets eligible for Custom of the Year? And hellpop: Masters of the Universe comics were produced by DC for quite a while. Maybe that's it?
  13. When I saw the Best/Worst thread this year, I did go "Hey, wasn't there a custom thing last year?" Glad to see it returned/expanded Sent in my nominations a bit earlier, cause I'm a bum who doesn't browse the board too much and always needs a PM telling me this is happening
  14. I hate Gimp. Dunno why, maybe I'm just to used to Photoshop. Anyways, I would reccomend trying http://www.pixlr.com/ It's basically Photoshop completely online, and worked pretty well for me when I was without Photoshop
  15. Those designs are really impressive looking, and I've warmed up to the armored figures like Odin (plus, Volstaag! Minimate of the year.) But they really dropped the ball on Thor and Loki IMO, especially compared to the designs.
  16. Is the guy actually made of fire? Cause I think it'd look perfectly fine with a solid-orange body and just clear parts for the flames.
  17. Great work, I've been thinking of making these guys for a little bit now.
  18. You know, I started this thing last year where I make my brother a set of Minimates for Christmas. Last year it was a very last-minute idea, so I whipped up a simple Red Lantern Guy Gardner and paired it with my original Atrocitus. And I forgot to take pics before I wrapped it, and haven't done so since. This year, I actually planned a bit and did a slightly more complex set, and was continually reminding myself to take pictures. And yeah, I just wrapped the set with no pictures taken. Bah humbug.
  19. Agent Colson has an amazing likeness, and he's easily the best of the bunch. There's nothing wrong with Jane Foster and whoever that is in the Army Builder line, besides being really generic, and the Frost Giants look kinda cool. But something's really off about all the Asgardians, though I think the generic is the best of the bunch. The sculpted pieces, especially the helmets, look way too thick, and it may just be the photos, but the colors on them seem really dull. If they're not as metallic as the Iron Man figures, which easily pick up natural highlights and shadows, then they need a wash or something to bring out the detail. And while I'm on the sculpted pieces, I think they should have decided on sculpted chest armor, or no sculpted chest armor. Odin and the Generic look fine together, and Thor and Loki match as well, but mix them up and they look like they're from separate lines. Or maybe give them all sculpted pieces with printed beneath them, somehow making the capes work with both as well, so you could choose which you prefer. And Destroyer needed unique sculpted pieces. Several. /rant
