  1. Yes it is! I wondered where that head came from, it's spot on.
  2. Found these today and I'm pretty pleased with the packs I bought. Ronan and Space Iron Man were the first I opened. Ronan is fantastic. The colors are nice and bright and he looks very imposing with his universal weapon. The head gear and shoulder pads are one piece and they fit very snug while allowing a lot of room for arm movement. This is as close to a classic Ronan as we will ever see in minimate form and I'll never need another. It's perfect. Iron Man turned out much better than expected, I never liked the look of the mask on that particular armor but it translated nicely to a minimate. The gold seems brighter than normal and stands out against the red. I figured this one would go toward the back of my IM display, now I'm thinking he'll be up front. Mysterio and Spidey were next. Mysterio turned out great, did not expect to like the gold instead of yellow but It looks good. He comes with a clear "rising smoke" accessory, I think it's the one that came with Dr Strange. I'm not sure as I haven't compared them yet, but is the cape a new sculpt? It has a neat textured pattern on the inside that adds to the overall look of the figure. Also, is the new helmet smaller than the original? Regardless, it looks nice, no complaints here. Spidey is just a neat looking armored figure. Crisp lines and paint with nice bright colors. Still not sure where I'll put him but I'll find a spot. On a whim I picked up the Quicksilver-Now Vision pack. Pietro looks good in his dark trunks and the paint detail on his belt is killer, Very nice attention to detail. And again, the bright colors pop on this guy. I think he will go on the classic Avengers shelf. Vision is done in much more muted colors, I'm assuming that's his look in the books now? The face decal really stood out to me, he looks very menacing. A nice figure of a version of the character that I'm not too familiar with. He also comes with some crazy phasing arms and legs that really work, he looks good with them on. Overall it's a comic assortment that I'm very pleased to see the TRU's in my area carry.
  3. Found these at a nearby TRU this evening and grabbed a pack. Only one peghook but it was packed full of them. I should have counted, it seemed like more than 12 packs. Bloodshot is the standout, a nice looking figure with TONS of accessories. He comes with a clothed chest block (black shirt, red... bloodspot), and two extra arms for the clothed look. Two leg holsters, two handguns and some kind of small machine gun/uzi. The paint is super sharp, very crisp lines. X-O is a great looking figure too. Very crisp paint and the tampoed armor is snazzy, so much so that I believe a chest piece would have looked out of place. He comes with an unmasked head and hair, I believe it's the hair that came with Sin-Eater. He also comes with a flight base and a green energy glow to fit over the fist. My only beef with the figure is the lack of a helmet. While the headpiece looks nice, it also looks small in comparison to Bloodshot. The helmet would have put this figure over the top and I wouldn't have missed the unmasked head at all. He's also missing his energy sword or cheese sword as someone called it a while back which made me laugh. Overall I am pleased with the purchase and hope to see more figs from the Valiant universe in the future. Especially if they're done as nicely as these two. My recommendation is get thee to a TRU and buy these! For those interested, the upc code on the back is 6-99788 81353-9 Also, If anyone has an appropriate BSG helmet I'd love to try and convert it to X-O's helmet. I didn't collect that line so I'm not too sure which would work best, viper maybe?
  4. Well, when the time is right, I'll be ready! Hope they eventually make it to retail as they look fantastic.
  5. As a guy that loves some villains, i'd be thrilled to see a Kang set like some have suggested. My perfect set would be Kang redux (with an unmasked head perhaps?), Immortus, Rama-Tut and Scarlet Centurion. I'd buy it! I have zero interest in Iron Lad or any of the YA. I've got enough Avengers lineups I'm trying to complete and don't need another. Though I do think they'd make a nice box set on their own.
  6. I wasn't sure if DST would sculpt the horns on the front of Hobby's glider or not... that's the only difference I can recall. Not a deal breaker for me, purple will do!
  7. Zach, any chance of these being re-offered at this years NYCC to potential retailers? I agree with others, wave two looked so much better than series one. Even though i liked series one some of them were a hassle to keep together. Wave two looked much more solid with more of a basic minimate aesthetic. Need that cow, lol.
  8. Ha! Nice pic and nice catch on your "error". Looks great. I picked up the Masters of Death set today and it's another set of win. All of the figures look great and as usual the accessories don't disappoint. Swords, guns and canes abound! Especially impressed with the Pai Mei beard, that's a slick little addition that I've never seen before. Mine was crooked in the package and I couldn't figure out how it could even be possible based on past beard accessories. Imagine my surprise when I opened it and realized it was a separate piece from the hair! Nice job DST. I think the likeness on Bill is terrific and the Bride and Hanzo look good too. Loving this series and looking forward to the Viper set.
  9. I'm not much of a NOW fan so most of these are a miss for my collection. They look nice but Hobgoblin is the only one I'll order. Unfortunately, as seems to be the case all too often with me anymore, I'm buying him for custom parts. Still, thrilled to have an official glider for my old one, can't wait to see what it looks like!
  10. Wow, a lot of great ideas here! Zexion, that Jarvis is outstanding, I may try to copy that. The hair turned out perfect, nice job.
  11. Well that's good news! Hoping my local TRU's carry this one as they skipped wave 18 and the Tomb Raider wave. Plants vs Zombies never arrived in my neck of the woods, along with Clerks box set and Infinity Box set. They did get Amazing Spider Man and TMNT, though it was one case of each with no restock. Very stoked for the Mysterio pack. I'm happy with the original but I'm using the body on the new one for the Nightmare custom I've seen a few people around here do. The helmet will go for an Orb custom. Two classicy villains from one pack, huzzah! I don't need the Spidey figure but man, it's a nice looking one from the pics... i'll find a place for him. Also, a classic looking comic Ronan, finally! Been looking forward to that one for a looooong time. I'm gonna have to start rooting for classic Attuma now as my "How is that guy not made yet?!" pick!
  12. Yeah, that does look good. Wish it was classic Banshee we were getting but that's a nice start! Can't wait to assemble the Brotherhood, I'm already thinking about switching out the Blobs face with a WD Gabe face. That's what I had planned on using for my 80's Blob kitbash before they announced this wave.
  13. I agree that it would be a huge longshot for an all female box set but I'm loving elmeuax and Stegron01's suggestions. Hellcat, Moondragon, Medusa and Disco Dazzler would make this classic character lover swoon. A Defender, an Avenger, an Inhuman and an X-character... that's the kind of diversity I'm looking for!
  14. Hey, hey, the Brotherhood has arrived! Can't wait to have the whole team assembled and on my toy shelf. First impression: Avalanche is perfect. The mask looks great and I love the extra chest pc for an alternate look. The roadside ruble is icing on the cake. Blob looks menacing and I think the Rufus torso fits him well. The alternate hands feet are a welcome bonus. Pyro looks pretty good, but like others I'm a bit concerned about his mask. Destiny is the one that surprised me most as I wasn't sure we would ever get her. I too would've preferred a slightly elongated helmet for her to better match her classic comic look. Overall they look great and I can't wait to own them. Mnemosis, I might be into buying a Brotherhood set from you if you buy extras. Not a huge fan of this era of X-Men, they look nice though. Slightly disappointed we still haven't seen classic Banshee and Sunfire before the "no more x-toys" period begins.
  15. YB, thanks for posting this... FINALLY came across them at the local TRU and grabbed a pair yesterday. I had been looking since the original post but everything seems to arrive slower to my area since the purge. I thought it was clever how the bike assembles, no falling off parts. The size and scale are so nice for minimates. Still can't figure how you got that Cap mate to sit on the bike. I'm using a best of Spidey and can't get the thigh section to part enough for me to slide him onto the seat. The main frame seems too wide... I'll keep on tinkering with it.
  16. Sidney Crumb, he fought Captain Britain once, in issue #4 of the Moore stuff I believe. I've always loved that issue and I could come pretty darn close to Sidney with a Hedorah. Here's Sid in his big moment... http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/sidney.htm (scroll down, cover pic on the right.) Not sure about Hedorah having two looks Arnim, someone else might know better than me. Sorry.
  17. Was Kitty supposed to have an inhibitor collar? I could swear that was mentioned but there was nothing in my pack. Also, thanks for explaining the hole in Kitty's jacket a few pages back, could not figure out what was supposed to go there, lol. Neat box set that I didn't need but I'm glad I bought one. Nice job DST.
  18. As much as I want Nighthawk and Hellcat... I think the Human Fly would be the star of that set for me. 19 issues of fun right there. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be speculating about anymore on this thread but I'm down for Mystique's Brotherhood and I would flip if the two Zach mentioned were classic Sunfire and Banshee. That would be one heck of a wave... best one for me since the Strucker wave if it happens.
  19. Current reads are few for me, just can't get into all of the newer stuff. Still, I look around and enjoy a few titles here and there. Currently reading Daredevil, Moon Knight and Savage Hulk from Marvel. Green Arrow is my only DC title and I'm probably dropping that with the creative team change. I picked up a trade yesterday called "The Mercenary Sea" that looked intriguing. I had never heard of it but the art caught my eye, very different from most monthlies. I'll probably check this out later today. Other than that it's pretty much re-reading old trades of classic stuff. Just finished the Korvac Saga again.
  20. Ha, me too. I can't stop looking at it. These sets are fantastic, especially the Crazy 88 box... so many accessories. The extra heads and multiple extra hairpieces just put this one over the top. Very pleased with the HOBL box too, Go-Go's real chain was a nice touch. The extra head/hair for multiple looks is another winner. Nice job. I'm in for everything from this line, I haven't been disappointed with any of the releases to date and am looking forward to the rest.
  21. If anyone is buying multiples of box set two and has an extra Hedorah to sell, I'd be very interested in buying. I need to make a Marvel villain out of that guy for my 616 collection.
  22. Finally got to open this pack, what a fun little set. Both characters look dead on and the accessories are neat. Good stuff, I'm very pleased with this pack.
  23. Agree with Valo on the redesigns, I'd gladly pass on a wave of redos. Very happy to see a new TRU assortment and hope they will be available in a wide selection of TRU locations. Unfortunately, being a bronze age fan and not a Marvel Now fan,or a redo fan there isn't much here for me. I'll gladly purchase classic Ronan, it looks great from the teaser photo.Hats off to DST for finding a slot for him after not making it into the four pack. I'm more than satisfied with the original Mysterio but I'll buy this one to use his head for an Orb custom. No knowledge of that Spidey look but pretty sure that armor can be used elsewhere for a custom. Don't need the two Avengers and will definitely pass on the wave 59 Sentinel. Those shoulder pads drive me nuts in every photo I've seen. DOFP Sentinel would've made me jump and I'd have grabbed a few packs.
  24. I'm happy to know others recognize some of these guys... I'm a huge sucker for all things 70s/early 80s Marvel - it's the era I came up reading comics. The bronze age was full of so many colorful, creative costumes and wacky one-off characters. I wanted to focus on tackling a bunch of characters that had real distinctive personality, but that had virtually zero chance of being included in any future releases. I will probably get around to some more uniquely Iron Fist villains at some point, though my target list there is shorter & I'll probably take a break before I get started. Yeah, based on some of your past comments and customs I figured you and I had grown up reading in the same era, 70's - early 80's. I'll always be thankful for catching that particular era of comics, i could read the current Marvel titles and then check out stuff they were referencing in the various titles they were reprinting from the 60's. Throw in DC, Atlas (Loved Atlas!) and the Charlton reprints... man, what a time to get into comics. I absolutely love the Frank Robbins reference pics you used for Spear and the Mangler, that always takes me back to Invaders and Human Fly memories. Robbins art style wasn't a fan favorite but I was always drawn to it. The PM villains turned out fantastic, I could go on and on gushing over them. Very interested to see what characters you choose for your Iron Fist assortment, some fun stuff in there too. I've always wanted to do a Hulk villains wave, the criteria is pretty much the same as your PM set... a lot of great looks that will never see a store release. I'm looking at you Night-Crawler and Space Parasite!
  25. Blues Brothers would pique my interest for sure. Off to pick up my PF two pack later today, anxious to see them in person!
