  1. Damn dude, office setting is so delightfully boring! These are frickin amazing!
  2. FWIW, Squirrel Girl seemed to disappear off the pegs rather quickly. The character has a Deadpool-esque cult following.
  3. So did wave four already come and go? It's been awfully quiet since these were spotted.....
  4. Need help finding series 4 in central NY
  5. Checked three walgreens in central new york, still no wave 4
  6. I have a big problem with Tony being so connected to Spider-Man. Look, I get why they do it but it kills whatever unique selling point Spider-Man has.
  7. What continuity did you read? All the major canons have Ben and Richard Parker as brothers. Not saying you're wrong, just curious as I've never heard of it.
  8. I only buy Marvel but I still look forward to seeing what else you guys tackle. The sheer volume of properties you have is incredible. Can't wait to F5 the hell out of these threads come Toyfair!
  9. http://epicmarvelpodcast.com/spiderman-20/ Second episode is now up covering Amazing Spider-Man Volume 20 - Cosmic Adventures. Special guest appearance from Erik Larsen!!!
  10. None in NY yet but all the stores are only hanging on 2 or 3 two packs so I'd expect a restock soon.
  11. Didn't realize I never did one of these. BigVis497 comes from WWE's Viscera. Way back in 1999 when I first got online, everyone had something 3:16 or something DX for their name on the wrestling websites I posted on. Screw that, I always wanted to be different. Since Viscera had about 12 fans I picked him. Big Vis was his nickname, 497 was his billed weight. It stuck ever since. My avatar is basically the same deal. I love the offbeat and obscure, so right now I'm rocking custom Madcap Minimate control art. I think before this I had Century, and before that Death's Head (FPA). If it's obscure and out there, I'm all in.
  12. This is the first animated wave where I will probably be buying the entire set. Each pairing has a version that can pass for a comic version. I just need to swap out Speed Demon's head and paint a slipover mask. I don't need Anti-Venom but this one is enough of an improvement over the old one, I'll probably pick it up. As usual, I'll have the others up for trade/sale if anyone wants. Oh, and this is for a mod, but could we maybe kill this thread and devote threads to each individual wave? With all the 0.5's and for how close they're getting released to each other, it's getting confusing, especially with people posting in both.
  13. Hey everybody, my friend Kurtis started a podcast where I (James) will be one of the rotating co-hosts. We're the Epic Marvel Podcast and our mission is to spend one episode discussing one volume in-depth of the best thing Marvel has going today, the Marvel Epic Collection trade paperbacks. If any of you are familiar with the old line of Essential Marvel TPBs, the Epics are basically the same thing although they are in color. The major difference is that the Epic volumes are released out of order. For example, Essential Fantastic Four started with Volume 1, the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby stuff from issue 1 in 1962, then kept going forward chronologically. The Epics are released out of order. The first Epic Volume of Fantastic Four released was Volume 17, the Stern/Englehart/Buscema stuff from the late 80's. Then they released a 90's Volume, then went back to Volume 1 Lee/Kirby, and so on. They're doing it this way to get stuff out there that hasn't already been reprinted a million times. All of the Epic lines have been meticulously mapped out in advance and part of the fun is guessing what will come out next and what will be in the volumes. The goal is to eventually have full runs of Marvel's longest-running titles collected. For the first episode, Kurtis and I tackled the very first Epic volume released, Iron Man Volume 10: The Enemy Within (Iron Man 158-177 and Annual 5). This is the Denny O'Neil/Luke McDonnell run where Tony has a relapse with alcoholism and eventually Jim Rhodes takes over as Iron Man. Each episode should clock in around an hour, however since this is our first, we spent some extra time introducing the project and ourselves. You don't need to know anything to listen so feel free to jump right in! If you have any questions or comments, you can post here or on the site. I think any fan of classic Marvel will enjoy this. Let me know what you think! http://epicmarvelpodcast.com/
  14. My TRU is in the middle of a re-stock right now so we'll see if any hit the shelves. The only thing really peg-warming right now is Doctor Strange.
  15. I haven't seen these in stores yet but I'll probably bite if I do. Old Hasbros were the best. I heard the new ones have ball-jointed heads?
  16. Did anybody else completely miss out on the Abomination BAF wave? That wave never hit within 50 miles of here.
  17. I'm very excited for 2017. My Marvel collection is almost complete, which is kind of a weird feeling. I got into this hobby fairly late in the game and part of the fun was hunting down all the stuff I missed. Now that I'm almost done, there's this weird "what's next" feeling. Once the hunt is over, is the thrill still there? Do I start something else? I'm not entirely sure. I am sure that I'm going to be happy with the Marvel releases this year based on the info I have, so I'll always be up for the current game. I may start collecting those new retro Hasbro-style WWE figures. That could always lead to me going back and buying all the ones I had as a kid.... What else? I just started work as a set designer for a local high school drama club and I love it. My first play is Willy Wonka which we'll be showing in March. Hopefully this leads to more work down the road. I'm doing this in addition to my full time job and also in addition to returning to school full-time, so 2017 will probably fly by in the blink of an eye. I'm soooooo busy. It's a good kind of busy though. I recorded the first episode of the Epic Marvel podcast which focuses on one Marvel Epic Collection per episode. I'm a rotating co-host for the show and we'll be doing an official launch once we have a few episodes in the can. These things have really rekindled my love for comics and it's always fun to talk about topics that haven't been covered to death elsewhere. I also want to run a half marathon for the first time this year so once the weather gets a little warmer I'll start training for that. I'd also like to spend some more time in the mountains this year as last year I didn't get up there as much as I would like. My parents just retired and they're looking for new hobbies, I've been bringing them hiking on some smaller mountains. I'm proud that I may have given them a new hobby so hopefully we'll do some more this year. 2017 is looking good!
  18. Nice idea! I just did a picture of all the Marvel (comic) Minimates of 2016 so I'll have to choose from those.... Are Vinymates eligible this year?
  19. I like how Minimates acknowledges that the Avengers were around for 40 years before Bendis and the movie.
  20. I'll be sad to see you go, but I understand. I'm sure everyone here wants you to still do the award show. You don't need it but you have my blessing. The photography work you do is one of my favorite reasons to visit this site and if there was a MMMV Hall of Fame, you'd be in it. I'm glad you're not selling your collection. You never know when you'll get the itch again and starting from scratch can be too intimidating of a wall to knock down if you get the urge to jump back in. I've been there. All the best!
