  1. Flabby or less-fit ....er....means chubby or ...er..fat ,right ? That guy from the Lagoon seems quite fit to me ....& there are several I can think of . Fat guy ( no offence meant) torso , I'm struggling but movie Blob ( with vest) is nearly bare-chested .....Absorbing Man (TRU 18) alternate look seems fairly bulked.
  2. There is nothing to argue about in that fine post .
  3. Just when I was convinced that they were dead , along comes a new kubrick ..or two ! "The Crow" seems to be available in 100% & the spectacular 1000% size . I have just one of the 1000% size kubricks which incidentally & inadvertently my very best toy investment . Mine is the Andy Warhol 1000% ....a bizarre 'toy' which is completely ....er...bizarre ! Anyway 'The Crow' is the first new kubrick in some time & the 'normal' size issue is prized at about $80+ !!!! One kubrick $80 ....how many nutcases would pay that ? The 1000% is another bizarre toy & I must not buy it.
  4. I am therefore generally in favour of this new promotion & it seems to be aimed at the completists amongst us . I have a few reservations & the main one would be that these may ultimately become more & more exclusive & that's where the bubble may burst. The inevitable DST super-excluding-exclusives at conventions will exacerbate this .
  5. Despite my notoriously general griping I am lucky enough perhaps to say that, IMHO ,there are very few minimates that have given me issues. Hydro-man is my particular boogey (more than one) but I am sure other collectors will dwell on theirs. X-Force box set ? 10+ years old which is perhaps irrelevant (or not) ? However this sad f**k once dipped all his 'new ' additions in warm ,soapy water . Unnecesary ? Perhaps but maybe that's why I haven't had many problems.
  6. The Amalgam universe would be a bit of a licensing toothache . Butt now braces himself for an avalanche of puns .
  7. Aliens series 4 were on sale at B & M ( that's their name not an acronym for brick & mortar) . This wave was the one that never made it out of TRU.
  8. Well..... I am staggered. It would seem that a company called Sonner Toys have a selection of WG mates up for pre-order . They are based in the South East of the UK !! At an advertised price of £24.99 ($33) per pack they won't be selling many . These of course may be a one-off but Minimates have been found before in UK discount stores ...en masse.
  9. Please Zach can you please just forget that I live in the UK , my geographical position rarely has any relevance to whatever I generally post . Thanks. I'll stick by my comments & whilst I agree that it might not be easy to "tell" a pharmacy store chain how to sell toys then maybe they could have been politely educated ? Maybe they'd have been grateful Anybody reading through the 110 pages/6 years of this thread will quickly figure out what went wrong with Minimates at Walgreens, again maybe somebody could have told Walgreens ? Nobody will be staggered to know where the inventory went .
  10. I am lucky enough to have every WG pack & after several years I'm quite certain I'll obtain any that got dropped onto some 'retailer' who "may not know exactly what figures they have bought" . I have become used to DST 'washing their hands' of any Minimate release once, this or that retailer has taken delivery of it. I'm sure the likes of Apple ,Coca-Cola,Nike etc.etc. would do the same . Wouldtheyfuckaslike .
  11. I'd totally agree with that. Being totally ruthless ( & you need to be ) I would ignore almost everything made before late 2008 & then concentrate on the TRU waves which IMHO are generally head & shoulders above their contemporary LCS waves. I am not saying that, prior to late 2008, there was nothing worth collecting but nigh on everything has been revisited since. There are no more than a dozen or so pre-2009 Marvel minimates that still hold up alongside late Marvel mates. Harsh ? Maybe but I'll stick to my guns. There was a sea change for all minimates when the new Marvel TRU waves arrived .
  12. I'm wondering whether these 'other retailers ' will match Walgreens' legendary distribution ? Let's hope not . Maybe they'll be for sale online .
  13. I 'enjoy' toy packaging & it is completely understandable that ,from a marketing point of view, to give small toys greater presence in-store with big packaging . I can also see that a specific SDCC promotion might cater for a specific buyer. Bigger packaging however means nothing to somebody who has a toy-buying budget .....the 6 packs are $40 whilst the current Waves of 6 are $26 . Then there is shipping &, in this age of online-purchasing, shipping costs are a factor . It is hard not to wonder why* ,in a world where most everything is cuboidally packaged , DST have chosen a hexagonal prism. These 6 packs will ultimately be shipped with further fresh air in a yet bigger box , a cuboid package . *maybe it is just me that does the wondering ?
  14. The bad news about an Omicrom variant genuinely made me think that it sounded ( potentially ) like a name for a Transformer ! Sadly it is a name for a transformer. 'Omicron' has been a DC comic villain & also a base for Hydra in the Marvel comicverse. Keep safe people.
  15. Minimates produced in numbers as low as 1000 ? Who knew ?
  16. Done exactly as you describe......... that would be a beautiful 'mate . I was going to qualify my remark about my 'dislike' of 'mouldy' Minimates but I'm pretty sure that most of us (?) appreciate the evolution of the Minimate away from the early coloured unpainted plastic figures to the what we generally get these days .
  17. Shiny happy people minimates are rarely my favourites . There are very few moulded ,unpainted plastic Minimates that I can stomach ....worst of all are the 'marriages' .....'mates that are part -painted & part- moulded -unpainted .....that would be personified by FF Thing .
