The FF box set . On one hand it shows how far Minimates have come ,a beautifully presented set of well-known characters ,beautifully painted with tons of accessories . I actually saw my box-set for the first time & just stared at it with a huge grin on my face , I thought it was great . On the other hand it shows how Minimates are bogged down in the past . My thoughts on any Thing Minimate aside, open the box & we see 3 similarly uniformed team -mates, 2 that have identical bodies & another with an altered chest-piece! I'm sorry but (almost) 3 identically bodied Minimates in a box set is a waste , I might as well say it ......that's why I cannot stomach the idea of more Star Trek Minimates . Bring on more Star Trek Minimates by all means but for f*cksake just produce some 'heads ' . Partly-flamed Torch , Visible Woman & Mr.Bluesuit -guy-with-4-on his chest don't really shout "FANTASTIC FOUR" to any new buyer. A 'Charcoal' Surfer ain't going to help, if I have to 'Google' a Marvel character then I am unlikely to relate quickly to the Minimate . I am NOT the person that DST should be trying to please ,that's my point. Over the years my personal gripe with newly-released FF characters was that the 'blues' never matched the previous versions , that one has been solved

Somebody needs to figure out who actually buys Minimates these days . Once that is established then somebody needs to figure out who would potentially buy Minimates . I actually like the characters in this wave but let's be totally honest , I'm 67 , I have adequate versions of most of the characters & I know who they are . The original yeloDD 'mate looks bloody awful now but are there that many new Minimate fans going to get excited about this new one ? I'll be very pleased to get one but it ain't going to generate new blood which is what this line desperately needs. I realise that the TRU Bullseye was supposedly scarce , for those who wanted one then I'm sorry but that pack was released in 2009 ! Nearly 14 years later , we have a new version of what I consider to have been a perfect Minimate which is being aimed at whom ? I don't profess to know the answers & I'm concerned whether DST does .

Your post initially threw me ( T'Bolt 2 pack ) ...up to speed now ....TRU Marvel Wave 3 You're right that 2 pack was elusive & IMHO nailed the character. What may need to be realised is, that that was over 13 years ago *. On one hand you could say that now is the chance for 'all those' that missed it to get another chance. Are there really that many Marvel Minimate collectors left that haven't got a 'Bullseye' that would buy this wave to get one? Are there that many new collectors who would desire this over all others ? I don't think there is but that is just my opinion . Kingpin ? I have similar opinions . There are so many iconic characters that could be made that would be loved by new & old (& very old) collectors. * The Golden era for Marvel Minimate characters.

'Visually ' inappropriate ? Captain Condom ? Private Parts ? Oh how I dream of a Vampirella Minimate ....alas not Marvel. Mandrill. Mandrill ...er....a man with a drill . Even ol'butt couldn't be more blatant with the double entendre than that ! Visually inappropriate ? I'm not sure.

The C3 Batcave Joker would perhaps be the best of the 3 Jokers that we have , 'heads' from that period (18 years ago) look so terribly dated /crude now but they are all memorable. BTW they have some pretty loud suits. If anybody's interested I own one suit which only gets worn on sombre occasions , funerals

F8cking priceless I was born with a diastema ,it is not life threatening & I live with it . I just did a quick check through of well-known (but less-popular characters than myself) with the same affliction* & found that their Minimate likeness's fail in the 'mouth-open' dept. .... & my mouth is generally open . I mention the above purely because *William Dafoe, Madonna (?) ,Elijah Wood , Samuel L.Jackson & Arnold Schwarzenegger * have Minimate 'realities' . I choose Samuel L. as my Minimate doppelgänger .....we have our differences but I'd be happy enough to say we share attitudes.

I've said it for years, far too many Minimates , esp. Marvel ones, have 'that too serious' look . I'm not saying that that is wrong but it is definitely tedious . 'Tedious' because the only part of a Minimate that is .....or not.....precious/unique is the head & its expression. When Minimates 'END' then 'heads' will become very important. Far too many Minimates take themselves too seriously

That's the sole reason I am not getting involved. BTW WTF is the size of the GI Joe 'specials' .....please

'Clamshells' was ,I thought, the correct international name for a clear plastic case ? I'm not going to bite . All I wanted to know was the dimensions of the GI Joe packaged 'mates ....... .....before I find a plaice to perches them

Just over a year ago a guy I have known for over 20 odd years took his own life . In those 20 odd years we definitely had our ups & downs & TBQH we had been estranged for quite some while ,still polite to one another but definitely frosty whenever we met which was irregularly . Quite out of the blue he & I bumped into each other , I live on a small farm , I see very few people but there he was walking the public path that runs through the farm . There was little that either of us could do but to have a chat. I recall our conversation vividly .Later I also recall conveying to my gf that I'd just seen 'J' & that I had 'seen' for the first time in several years the bloke that had shared many a fine moment together with me. We had had a lengthy conversation & we both parted with a smile & a laugh , genuine smiles & genuine laughter. A fortnight later I rang him for the first time in years , I needed a contact number for his business partner . He was surprised to hear from me, understandably. Once more we chatted & chuckled about 'shit' , I got the number , I recall putting the phone down with us both laughing. 2 weeks on, I heard that he had killed himself . I wrote the above to amplify one thing ....you'll never see it coming.

I confess that DP was initially, completely ....completely....off of my radar , I came up to speed very quickly though. Wave 28/H & A version = unsurpassed. Nice later versions but please refer to previous= pattern. So now I'm thinking "Champions' .......First Black Widow = brilliant ,next 14 not so much = pattern . Angel = anything with wings= collectable/desirable Ghost Rider....don't bother unless we get a bike or a tiger. Hercules .....he took on Thor , let's have a minimate that could take on Thor.....any one of 34 of them & win. Not brand echh would be a rubbish idea for a box set

We got Janet van Wasp in 2008 in an Avengers box set , an homage to 4 original members of the Avengers they were purposely 'dated' . It kinda worked but the characters looked anachronistic with other contemporary Marvel 'mates .....but of course that was bound to be the case . The exception was ,surprisingly, The Wasp , not the skirted version with the dopey hat but the skirtless version sans hat. That version is almost 'there' . That Invaders box set (2008) ,again an homage, gave us IMHO that perfect Namor , Imperius Rex . For the record I think that box set gave us our first non-slip-over masked Cap , great idea that never quite worked .

Yeah ....maybe I was a bit too harsh on the She-Hulks , I never ever got my head around the comic-character & I'm influenced by that. Black Knight ...spot on

How on earth have we, Minimate fans, only been given one JVD Wasp ,one Hercules, one Black Knight & two too many (rubbish) She-Hulks ? 30 odd Thors & 50 Captain Americas ??? Re-hashes were the curse in the demise of this otherwise magnificent line. I don't include Namor because IMHO the initial 'Invaders' version was iconic...just one was enough. I'd love a proper original Swordsman .
