BSG Minimates cancelled
groundhog7s replied to Mattallica's topic in TV, Movie, & Video Game Minimates
Maybe I'm changing my opinion on this, but I guess I'll be shocked if these don't show up one way or another. All we really know is that they cancelled waves 5 & 6 and the Caprica boxset. That doesn't really mean they've cancelled the figures, but maybe they're re-planning a more efficient way to release them. I just can't see them totally cancelling them. If anything, you can't tell me when they planned these waves that they weren't aware of the low sales on the other waves (if they really were low) and didn't figure that into the equation. -
What I would like to see is a timeline for the next three waves. Since the Deadpool/Gambit/other cool stuff wave is already designed, maybe it will come quicker than normal. Maybe?
-
Not just 'finally', but 'finally' times 3. With (basically) two versions here and the classic version in the villians box set, I feel DST has made up for not releasing him sooner.
-
Army builders from now on, guys. If you weren't a dude, I'd want to kiss you. Thanks for the preview (and for making them so awesome). You guys just keep improving these every wave.
-
Maybe, if the final Cylon is a Huntmate.
-
He looks great. You've got a real knack for finding just the right part to make things work right (the Cylon hand/BAT Claw).
-
Yeah, he's a little hideous. At least he doesn't have the same face as the Duke from the Best of the '80s DVD. That one is just wrong on so many levels.

Noob, BIG Noob.
groundhog7s replied to IndianaJonesMinis's topic in Please allow me to introduce myself...
Welcome aboard! I would highly recommend the IM movie mates. They are by far some of the best work DST has done (IMO). The amount of detail and extra parts makes it very worth the money. -
It's good to see they don't seem to be stopping anytime soon. I really wasn't sure how GI Joe would be received, but they seem to be going over well. That'll mean at least three waves (unless a con exclusive). That'd suck.

I just got the new ones also, but it's been hit or miss finding any newer ones around here. However, I can say that I now have all of the G1 ones. Unfortunately, all of my ones that came out before the movie are in storage in a friends barn, so I've never seen them all together.

Ricardo Montalban dead at 88 It was said he will be most remembered for Fantasy Island, but not to me.
-
My bet is on 'Huntmate '09".
-
That is good to hear. I'm planning on sharing my concerns through the Ask DST form.

What's odd is that I thought he did too. I hate it when when you think that.

custom question for the more experienced
groundhog7s replied to groundhog7s's topic in Custom Creations & Artwork!
All good ideas. It's not actually for a Minimate, though, and should have said that I need it to be about an inch thick. I might go with the foamcore idea first and see if I can make it work. -
I have to agree that getting new Minimates in bulk is just the coolest toy-collecting moment for me. Well, aside from opening a clamshelled toy that has really strong paint fumes coming out of it-nothing beats that feeling.

Yeah, but at least Tigh only glares at you with one eye. -

Yeah, I thought the idea of them was insane, but now I can't wait for them. And I thought tracking down con exclusives was hard enough this year, can you imagine what they'll be doing this year with so many different brands? -
Comic Spirit Mates on AA website
groundhog7s replied to murderofcrows's topic in TV, Movie, & Video Game Minimates
And don't forget, the Spirit was the first chance at a Samuel L Jackson Minimate so there was no way they could pass it up. If only they could've made a Minimate snake or plane we'd have seen him in a boxset sooner. -

I almost don't want to respond because I'm sure this forum will be cancelled soon. But seriously, how can Spirit mates survive in the climate that doesn't support more well known and recognized lines? The Spirit movie was ranked #23 in box office sales after only three weeks. It's only made $19mil so far, which I'm sure it cost much more to make. People are just not interested in the movie so why would they want toys from it? -

I'm onlyinterested because it has the word 'Minimates' in the name. I think they look cool (really, really), but I'm not sure there are that many Spirit fans to make this fly. -

I like them too, but we're supposed to believe there will be more retail support for these than the BSG cancelled waves? I'll buy them if they're out, but I'm not so sure we'll see them. -
That's just beautiful.

Now with Starscream, how long until there's some exclusive jets somewhere? You know we'll see a Thundercracker soon.
