  1. Congradulations, Hasbro now owns your soul. It's disconcerting at first, but in time you can't remember feeling any other way. It becomes comfortable, like old leather.
  2. If they do make this, with those parameters, on your suggestion, I will track you down and beat you with your own green tail. Or you could just hand me $40, your call. Not to sound overly dramatic, but as I've said before my local TRU is ridiculously over scalped. Finding anything TRU exclusive that might even begin to have secondary market value is impossible. A couple of scalpers arrive at the TRU every morning when it opens, every single day. It's frustrating.
  3. Swap the Mk II Beetle for Stingray... just for some not colored red and or silver. And for the record, of the top six characters in the DST poll, Storm had THE best chance of turning up somewhere else of anyone not named Spider-Man. But it's a very specific look Storm kept for a few years, 20 years ago. You've got to be in your mid thirties to really have remembered it well in comics, outside of reprints and back issues. It never made it into any of her cartoon appearances as her main look, and certainly hasn't made any toy appearances outside of an ML variant. In short, it screams collectors' market. Not knocking it, think it was one of the more appropriate choices in the poll, but I can totally see how it didn't do well in mass market poll, X-man or no. The mistake was, I suspect, miscommunication from DST and TRU on how the polls would work. If DST had know TRU's poll would be non-transparent, they would not have made theirs either. And that's where the problem lay- we got our "face all set" for Storm based on the DST numbers, and it didn't happen.
  4. Hopefully the "experiment" will be over by the time my Secret Wars set needs to be sent out.
  5. I'd say Mimic is likely. Especially that Dark X-Men costume, which looks like for all the world like it would be nothing but reused parts. Calvin's more classic costume would need a new goggles-hair piece, not that that is the hurdle to something getting made that it once was.
  6. So, are these Beasts' the only time that "duck feet" are considered a good thing?
  7. But... October... that's when 29 and 30 are supposed to be coming out too... sudden wallet shaking flashbacks of the Marvel Legends post drought explosion where 3 waves and 3 boxed sets were released within three months. (6, 7, and 8 released in the fall of 2004 if memory serves) Of course the more likely scenario is that every wave will be pushed back and 31 / 32 will be a first of next year kinda thing. grumble, grumble grumble.
  8. Funny stuff. The only thing missing was a Chicken Boo "But it's a chicken, a giant Chicken!" line.
  9. I'm 99% sure that the dark blue, #4 costume appeared with white boots on occasion. Seems like it even had the white boots when Magneto took it back to attack to the Avengers. (but this is going from groggy, too tired to research it right this minute memory) It also could be one of those cases where it appeared in a Handbook and nowhere else. Small price to pay for multiple Multiple Men.
  10. Well I've done my part. I've preordered the next 4 waves and several boxed sets.
  11. It's not a mistake, it's just the latest clever illusion to make Wolverine look shorter. Dyson... I don't know, Leprosy? (hey, I just realized I could pretty easy make a Henry Deacon now... hmmm... Eureka minimates... )
  12. Not a big fan of swearing. Never have been. Like TM2 Dinobot, it's just how I was raised, and how I'm raising my boys. Sorry, you can't call the board family-friendly with Webhead's sig being okay. It says more than an F-bomb. That's not a complaint, it does not affend me at all, but then like the other poster, I don't let me 8 y/o son read this board over my shoulder. I'm not advocating a crack down, the Staff on this board do a good job IMO of keeping anything from swearing to outright hate to acceptable levels. But please don't try and claim family-friendly with a soft-core sig showing up regularly. (although she does look friendly... )
  13. Not to beat a dead horse too hard, but you mean like having two versions of a symbiote half covering the classic costume Spidey? And Nessex... I can see sweet, but it's also creepy. Is he trying to immortalize her, or trying to hold on to her? Is this an attempt to earn a "dead" woman's forgiveness for his part in their stormy relationship? Badly ending marriage not withstanding, Pym's last memory before abduction was of fighting with Jan, then sleeping with a college student. So I ask again, is it for her memory, or his conscious that he calls himself Wasp right now? Of course the question is moot as I don't think comics fan one actaully thinks Jan is really dead. And yes, go ahead and add Clint-as-Goliath, Bill Foster-as-Giant man, Scott Lang-as-Ant Man, and Rita DeMarra-as-Yellowjacket to my list of wanted minimates. Heck, make that grouping a boxed set. But there's no Spideys in 31 or 32, and the closest thing to Wolverine is X23. Sure we're getting a lot of Angel love, as someone decided he's the odd man out of the boxed sets, but I can live with that. I may even buy and extra blue Angel, just to try and "fix" Hawkgirl. (Nutrisystem for mates)
  14. Hate it for you, madman. They will get theirs, their kind always does. Call it karma, call it reaping what you sow, but this will come back to bite them.
  15. Of the two sets, I'd rather have the FA X-Men. I'd like the X-Factor set better if it really were from X-Factor #1 with a blue furry beast. Yes, the green peeking around the hair of the SI Beast is driving me nuts. Oh DST, why did you choose to torment me so!! And yeah, they so need to contact Boyd about using that image.
  16. I can think of several people who need a computer like that. Great find.
  17. 5 or 6, actually. The Avengers box set had Giant Man and Ant Man. Add Yellowjacket, Goliath, and Zombie Pym and that's 5. Depending on your personal opinion of what constitutes a variant, the Avengers box set also had regular old Hank Pym, which would be 6. I count the one in the avengers as one not three because even if you have the costumes you have to have three minimate bodies to display them Don't get me wrong, Scorpy, I think we need a Dynamo, Mandarin, and Sinister too. But as an unapologetic Avengers fan, the fact that we went from no Pym's to all four of his classic costumed id's in no time is pretty darn cool. A greedy man would take this opportunity beg for a Dr. Pym, scientific adventurer, minimate, but I'm not feeling greedy right now. Broke, but not greedy. Now if we wanted to make Hank the new Wolverine or Iron Man, I could suggest the red and blue Goliath costume, the blue and white Goliath that was similar to Clint's Goliath costume, the Gi-Ant Man costume Pym wore at the beginning of Avengers V3, Yellowjacket with goggles (no smaller a difference than some the Spider-Man variants we've seen), Giant Man's blue helmet/chest piece combo, the 'Gathers/Crossing Era' Giant Man, and I guess a Wasp (ridiculous as it seems to me to take your dead ex-wife's code name)
  18. Alright, I've been playing massive, massive catchup since I was on vacation all of last week. So let me leave my much belated thoughts- First I am thrilled with both lineups. Really glad to see Mar-Vel and Bolt are not going to be TRU exclusives as previously rumored. Glad to see an improved version of the modern Iron Man armor. More versions of Pym is never a bad thing. No real Wolverines. And Lockheed! The bad- Titanium Man looks like a bad custom. X-23... sigh... some bad ideas just won't go away will they? And if they'd asked me, I would have voted for a classic Multiple Man, or even an old X-Factor era costume, or the modern look. But they didn't, so I'll live.
  19. It's more of a shift than a lack of respect. DC has Brave and the Bold and it's doing very well. Marvel is very happy with their current X-Men and Iron Man cartoons on Niktoons, and have annouced plans for a Fantastic Four and a Avengers cartoon on that network. And then there's the upcoming Super-Hero squad cartoon. So there are actually a large number of shows being made right now. But they are all geared more toward younger audiences. For both Marvel and DC, they have moved their more serious, adult aimed stories to the DVD movie market. Sucess has been wildly variable, early Marvel stuff is outright painful, but freed from TV censors, the DC line has flurished. I'd really love to see an actual JLU sequel movie, or maybe somthing set in the Batman: Beyond time period, set after 'Epilogue', but Timm and co have pretty thuroughly moved on. On Spectacular, there was another complication I failed to mention... the network that Marvel had originally developed SSM for, the "Kid's CW", shut down and sold all of it's properties to the 4KidzTV syndicated "network". Marvel had already begun production of SSM's 2nd season when CW shut down it's Saturday morning animation, in a move that caught everyne by surprise. So combined with the lukewarm toy sales, Marvel lost all enthusiasm keeping the show. But then again, it's Spider-Man, probably THE most kid friendly hero Marvel has. I doubt he'll be gone from the air very long.
  20. The new episodes air first on Monday nights, at 7:30 PM Eastern Time. After that, yeah it's really, really random. From what little digging I have been able to do, Spectacular was doomed not by bad ratings, but poor toy sales. (or rather poor, off model toys) And since the shows are essentially 30 min toy comercials... Coupled with Marvel's growing partnership with Niktoons and there really was little hope for another season. Shame too, this second season has been mostly really strong. (Okay, the Kraven "update" annoys the fudge outtah me, but aside from that...)
  21. Not bad. Not bad at all. Johansson doesn't look silly as a red-head as I thought she might. And lookie- Widows Bite braclets! (man I must be an old geek if I'm more excited by the comics accurate jewlery than the hot chick in the leather body suit.) One comment on the cover photo... they are planning to comb Tony's hair at some point, right? Wha...? That's how they wanted him to look? Really? Is that a static from the suit kinda thing or... oh... really... they hired the hair dresser from Angel? Oh, okay that makes total sense now.
  22. I am afraid I only have one thing to say... BWAAH HA HA HA HA HA! I'm sorry. I shouldn't find the deaths in this book so funny, but I do. Better luck next time. It would have been perfect if had been the one to kill them, just for irony's sake. Still an enjoyable start.
  23. Portman as Foster works for me. I think her "cute not hot" actually works in her favor if you populate Asguard with ultra-hot supermodel types. Now she contrasts with the world he came from, and that would make her more attractive to him. The one missing piece here is Don Blake. I've been pleased with the casting so far, but good hire on Dr. Blake will help nail expectations.
