  1. Wow - the scale on those old toybiz figures was soooo rough. Wolfsbane the same hight as Strong Guy? LOL
  2. I can't remember seeing him use anything like that. We saw transforming limbs that turned into giant morning stars, shields, claws or blasters.... but not a staff. The staff the toy came with also had a 'magic jewel' in it that you could slide up or down to expose it. It seems very specific. Perhaps it was from a story line that never materialised? For the record, that first X-Men wave from ToyBiz had some very hit and miss ideas. Nightcrawler has suction cups to mimic his 'wall crawling' ability. It was a nice idea but looked a bit unsightly. Wolverine's mask could be worn as a ring. Juggernaut came with a battering ram and roller skates.... so, yeah. I think there was a marketing person at ToyBiz just demanding accessories for every character that didn't fill out the blister pack on their own.

How did it hold up all these years later?
  4. I would be SUPER excited if it was. I always thought that was a very cool design. Who's hair could be re-purposed for her? Luke - are your figures all parts re-use, or do you/will you 3D print custom parts?
  5. ^THIS^ - We've heard moaning for literally years about TRU distribution, how bad the web site is and how poor their deliveries are managed. But the community has always helped eachother out. The same will continue on for Walgreens. I won't name names, but my collection exists because of the awesome peeps on this board. Other collectors outside the USA (BHM comes to mind) would probably say something similar. I feel you. There's not heaps to go crazy about for me either. However, I am surprised by how much I love the BC1M line. I will definitely be begging someone in the states to grab me that Phoenix! Also - I am super relieved to see that the TRU wave with Madame Masque, modern Rogue and X-Face Cyke has found a home. The minimates themselves are not a new announcement, but locking in a retailer and a rough date for release is actually huge news after the fall of TRU.
  6. Sneak peak of some upcoming minimates in there. Animated Avengers Secret Wars Avengers 1,000,000 BC Hammerhead!
  7. It's cool that they're keeping the consistent Danger Room backgrounds for the figures. The loose glove holding hand is a very nice detail.
  8. I haven't yet. But I generally do like the lego games. I'm not as invested in this property as I am in Marvel or DC, so I might wait for the price to come down a bit first (especially if it's finishable in significantly less time)
  9. THAT actually would have made an amazing accessory!
  10. It was never really substantiated, but a quick google search shows a bunch of fan theories.
  11. I am 100% here for the box set we've got. Apart from not getting a figure of I'm really glad they stuck with the costumed characters and ignored the civilians. If DST wanted to do a tie-in wave with 616 versions of Wasp, Ghost, Cassie Lang, etc... I'd be totally down for that, but I think we got all the essentials from the film. A+
  12. Yeah - Deadpool 2 was playing a bit fast and loose with that particular character as well. I suspect that the people making these films don't care as much about the lore and the minor characters as we do. In fact, that's almost exactly what the quote Mattalica shared said regarding Yukio: They probably felt exactly the same way about Vanisher. Say what now? I know there were some fan theories that Peter might have been Pete Wisdom, but apart from the name, there's literally nothing to link him to the character. No powers. No intelligence work background. It mostly seemed like misdirection to call him Pete W. Like - they makers of D2 were deliberately screwing with people.
  13. Most of the lines that have ended, did so because they ran their course. We have seen more NBX characters than I honestly thought feasible. I'll admit that we could have seen more Street Fighter minimates (I'll always want a Blanka and a Dhalsim), but most of the other universes that DST has Minimated didn't have the depth of characters that Marvel had. Nor did they have a new film coming out every year the way Marvel does. I feel reasonably safe that Marvel Minimates will continue for a little while, and that DST will keep investigating and adding new properties as they arise.
  14. My $0.02 (and maybe a little extra): Has Marvel Legends innovated much in the last 10 years? They gave away dioramas and brought in the BAF figures early on. I haven't seem them do much more since then. Recently, they have been delivering some awesome character selections. I have actually been considering getting back into ML because of the cool X-Men waves. But then when I think of the new MLs I want, like Warlock, Shatterstar, Polaris, Punk Storm, Dazzler, etc... I realise that Minimates has actually already done all of them. I think minimates has tried a lot of innovative things to move the line along. MAX gave as armed forced, police, fire fighters and vehicles. The line isn't around any more because it ran it's course and DST made what they could off it (including giving us a Blackbird for the X-Men). If it were still profitable, DST would probably still be doing it. Minimates' strength, for me at least, has always been the depth characters we see made. We might complain a bit about not having various line-ups completed, but I certainly don't have Rictor, Feral, Avalanche, or Destiny in my Marvel Legends collection. The accessories are also a lot better than what we get with the ML line. Look at all the weapons that came with the recent Hand Ninjas. ML is getting better. At least the new Psylocke actually came with power effects and a sword. But Minimates stuff like Thor's spinning hammer effect? That was gold! I think most collectors get fatigued after a while. How many toy lines seem fresh and exciting after 15 years? I've gone from something close to a Marvel completionist to only buying the waves of packs that excite me. I don't feel compelled to buy everything anymore. But some other kid has come along and is now buying everything that gets released. I'm not against DST trying things like dioramas, but I'd hate to see the figures suffer because of it. So long as DST keeps the quality up, and continues to find ways to release new characters, I'll keep buying.
  15. It *does* seem kinda weird to choose Yukio over Surge, given that Surge 1) is Japanese, 2) is age appropriate, and 3) has electricity-based powers. Although, she's not depicted as queer in the comics (as far as I can remember), so perhaps that's why they went with Yuriko? The relationship seemed more important to the story than the actual powers or age.
  16. Well, it's nice to see a good news story on the back of all this depressing news. Thanks for sharing!
  17. DST has taken some big risks to get us awesome con exclusives in the past (I'm looking at you, Alpha Flight), and it's possible that with the current minimum numbers for production runs that those kind of risks aren't as feasible as they used to be. Exclusives don't make the line. So long as we see new minimates revealed at Cons, I think the line isn't in much danger.
  18. I am 100% fine with this. I'd almost rather all the characters were ones we already had. I still don't have Magik. Just looking at her prices on eBay right now make me want to sell my whole ML collection. LOL
  19. It looks as though she may have had to
  20. Just putting the call out before the last of the stores is gone - if anyone finds a Carrion set or a Collector set, I'd be very keen to get my hands on both!
  21. Anyone here a Pokémon GO player? The game has just introduced 'Friends' and the ability to trade. The cumulative distance of any given trade is tallied up and counts towards earning badges, so I figured as a global community, the MMMV would be able to help each other out a bit. My Trainer code is 9434 2893 6523 if anyone wants to add me. Feel free to sound off with your trainer code below if you're keen to start sharing gifts and trading monsters

Yeah - I'm not after big draws. DST use the big draws to sell each 2-pack. I'm hoping for more C-list characters, wacky villains, etc... from DSTs BAFs. Moira McTaggert, Celia Reyes, Gamesmaster, Sienna Blaze, Edwin Jarvis, Jocasta, Machine Man, etc.... would all be very welcome as BAFs in my book. EDIT: Have DST said if they'll be showing any minimates at SDCC this year? Do we have a thread for that?
