  1. WIN! Love all the side commentary, surprisingly very on-the-target! We should all do more of these
  2. Not bad at all for your first attempts! Care to share who the one in the middle is? (Waldo?) There's something about the look of him that rings a bell, I just can't recall all that well right now.
  3. Anybody remember the last time we had a full Avengers-themed wave? I mean something more along the lines of Wave 16 or, or even just 19-20 where they fleshed out the Marvel line with more (I hesitate to use the term) B-list characters? I don't really collect them that much, but I absolutely loved the eclectic character selection of those Marvel lead figurines from Eaglemoss. I'm guessing the fact that they're geared towards a more old-school collector market may have something to do with that. To explain my point, here's the list of Marvel figurines they've released so far. And so far it's making me more and more depressed looking at that list. Naturally, this line also had Mr. Sinister and Kang. Cue the fireworks.
  4. Nice having you in the fold! Welcome to the forum! Expect our resident purveyor of movie trivia to start grilling you any time soon. Don't worry about too much, it's all standard procedure. Kinda
  5. I still need these waves!!! *sobs miserably* RazzinfrazzinlocalTRUsstilloblivioustoMinimatesIwishIwerentsobrokegrumblegrumble ... so it's just the BSG mates that are on sale? Any word on the T2 or Ghostbusters ones?
  6. I'm cautiously optimistic about the "big Minimate" scoop. Yeah, there is the possibility the guy may have just mistaken them for Muggs or Mez-Itz. But as someone who's dabbled in collecting Kidrobot's Munny line, if they are real then I certainly wouldn't be averse to them. Plus points if it still has full articulation A full TRU section devoted to Minimates? I hope so! Maybe then there'll be better chances of them being well-known and popular enough to start showing up on our side of the Pacific!
  7. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!! Er, um, I mean... Wow! Rob Liefeld in the flesh! Signing minimates! ... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
  8. It sort of scares me just how many iterations of Weird Al exist out there. Though it'd probably be a hoot if we got this version:
  9. A bunch of good building ideas can be found in the Minimate compatibility thread if you trawl enough of the pages. I managed to find a Heroscape set myself, and surprisingly it does work pretty great: As always, the old C3 stuff is a good go-to for mate buildings... provided you can actually find/assemble enough of them.
  10. Welcome to the hobby Gramps! I have to say I'm looking forward to your future contributions already We have quite a few fun Minimate pic series buried somewhere here in the 'verse. I can attest to guys like Chazwinki and murderofcrows being quite talented in this department, always great for a laugh. Doesn't stop the rest of us from trying though
  11. /Film did an article about all the inside jokes and nods to the other movies. Apparently one of the kids in the butterfly room is Boo from Monsters Inc. I think there were 60 of them in all. Huh, never noticed that Sid was the garbage man. Still pretty funny though. Another neat "Easter egg" I found: the car was the Pizza Planet delivery car from both movies. You can immediately recognize it from the "YO" at the back
  12. I'd say they looked like more of a light blue or teal. Also, EGADS! A review of Ultimate Hulk that wasn't seething with rants! Gasp!
  13. My major professor went there. Any relation to Major Spoilers? Just a quick heads-up, but is there anyone here who's still missing the Justin Hammer 'mate?
  14. While they aren't making a Toy Story 4, apparently a sequel of sorts is in the works. Thankfully it's only going to be an animated short they're probably gonna stick in the DVD or before the next Pixar movie, kinda like "Mike's New Car" was for Monsters Inc. Which reminds me: the short they showed right before Toy Story 3 (titled " ") was pretty cool too. I liked the clever "mixing of mediums" they used in there.
  15. All righty then. Pardon the thread necro but if I'm not mistaken, Toy Story 3 is showing in theaters as we speak. Just came back from seeing it today and I feel I won't be able to properly sound off on it until I get something out of the way first: These days when it comes to mass opinion on something like Pixar movies, it's impossible to find a middle ground. I hear a lot of people saying that while Toy Story 3 is an unnecessary sequel, it's still going to be good anyway. However even if you say it's good, you still can't take any full pride in saying that because in the back of your mind you'll still feel like you could've had something else "way better" instead. In any case this is just my usual long-winded way of saying that I thought Toy Story 3 is actually not that bad a movie, but that I am positive I would still get lynched for this opinion. Because fandom in the real world works way too much like Watchmen (i.e. the eternal war of "Grey areas" versus "No compromise").
  16. TELEPATHY, Blackagar! You're supposed to use telepathy! Fun episode, moc! I only have two questions: 1. Who gets to train Muffit the Dagget? 2. Does Gozer win Best of Show?
  17. Personally though I wouldn't mind if the turtles didn't get the sculpted head (don't lynch me), though the shell is obviously a must. And stopping to think about it a bit, think about exactly what else we could possibly get from this license: - 2-inch scaled nunchucks for Michaelangelo! Finally! - 'mates of Master Splinter, Shredder, and maybe some wacky 80s characters like Bebop and Rocksteady - the inevitable semi-useless civilian characters: April and Casey(?)
  18. Some international TRU's don't carry MiniMates at all, let alone the exclusives It ain't just Aussies who get stuffed here either... by my count there are about at least 5 Philippines-based Multiversers here, and in the entire Metro Manila area only a handful of comic book stores (no TRUs at all) sells Minimates... and of that handful only one is reliable enough to stock the new waves regularly, except that lately they have only taken to stocking the Marvel waves, meaning people like me who are crazy enough to go after stuff like Ghostbusters, Terminator and BSG are out of luck. Add to that the recent crazy upsurge we've had lately of people who've just decided to start dabbling in Minimates, and you've got one powder keg of a collector-on-collector rivalry here.
  19. Almost everything anyway. There's still the little wrinkle of , not to mention that plot point TBT just mentioned above. Still, one hell of a debut season for Eleven! Finale Part One was such a punch to the gut, hence my astonishment when Part Two happened. And season six is already underway! (As horrible as it sounds, that already gives him an edge over Doctor Nine! )
  20. Personally I never really had any high expectations on them resolving that particular plotline right away. Even when they first introduced the character back in the previous season it sort of became implicitly clear to me that they clearly had long-term plans for her, especially given the enigmatic circumstances of . I wouldn't be surprised if would become one of those season-long recurring elements of the new Moffat-helmed episodes that would get built up for a while and then pay off in a big way somewhere along the line. We sorta saw that happen before with things like the Shadow Proclamation (started off as a "running gag" in the Eccleston episodes, later became a plot point four series later in "The Stolen Earth"), Bad Wolf (again, looked like it would only be relevant for one season at first) and Captain Jack (though that one extended to a whole 'nother series). And given this new tonal sensibility both Moffat and Smith are introducing to the show, I imagine a lot more promise for this hypothetical story arc. (Or this could just be me being obscenely optimistic. For some reason I could never imagine something as "major" as being something they could just explain away alongside the bigger "cracks in time" arc of this season.)
  21. A small update seeing as the season apparently just wrapped up in the UK. I'll try to keep as spoiler-free as possible, but I will say that I hope Eleven sticks around for a long time, hopefully at least as long as Ten. Much of the set-up & storytelling was pretty ace and personally I got this really "epic" tone from this season, which is definitely a good sign. I was also pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Rory as a companion, though I imagine he'd be a very YMMV subject. A teensy-weensy spoiler for the two-parter finale though: . Yes, I am still reeling from that one.
  22. What are these "rules" that you speak of? Just kidding. A belated welcome to the Multiverse, friend!
  23. Just checked the C3 Joker that came in my Chemical Warehouse set from a while back, and he doesn't have the head-hole either. I guess the C3 mates were pretty random about which of their mates got the head-holes and which didn't. It always weirded me out that the wave 1 figures like Catwoman and Robin didn't have them, but miniflyers figures like Flash and Batgirl did. Then again this was also the line where they introduced the block-compatible C3 feet, so all the "innovating" going on in this line musta been pretty disorienting.
  24. That might be a good idea, but I can think of an easier, even funnier one: Silly Putty!
  25. We've gone this far into thread and not mentioned cannolis? For shame! I must say though, punisher, good call on the epic chocolate cake scene! I guess the Giant Peach from, er, James and the Giant Peach is worth mentioning as well, eh? Other interesting food stuff that might be of interest to you Bob (though I have famously weird taste in movies): Hummus (You Don't Mess With The Zohan) Hot Pockets (apparently they're the stereotypical "computer geek food" in a lot of Hollywood movies, so far I recall The Core and Sydney White. Stop laughing.) Chicken Pie (Chicken Run... ironic, I know.) a Mint Julep... or any heart-attack-inducing cheese-covered thing (Thank You For Smoking) any number of esoterically-named mixed alcoholic beverages (that old Tom Cruise movie Cocktails) And some slightly less relevant TV stuff: Pizza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) "Who loves orange soda?" (Kenan and Kel, for you Nickelodeon fans.) Rabbit Stew (a small lifetime of Looney Tunes shorts) Fish sticks dipped in custard (obviously, Doctor Who. He also like bananas and hates pears.) "OMELETTE DU FROMAGE!" (Dexter's Laboratory) Stephen Fry's character called it "eggie in the basket" in the film. Not sure how much help that is. Heh, fun blog name. Though it suddenly reminded me of another funny movie food idea:
