  1. That sounds like the Phantom Menace. That's the one where she falls in love with a 10 year old.
  2. So if no one buys them, it'll be because they can't find them?
  3. I'm reasonably sure that they axed the backwards compatibility initially for cost cutting measures. They built a machine that was unaffordable for most of the populace, so they had to cut all sorts of features just to lower the cost. Even if the cost of whatever they had to add to make it work was small, it does add up. Since then, there's been all sorts of talk about external devices or software emulation that would make backwards compatibility possible again, but now Sony has discovered that you can just sell people the games again either as a download or in an HD bundle. That they are still selling PS2s at this point should tell them they should reinvest in making the PS3 play PS2 games. I like my PS3 and I've never had any issues with Sony personally, but I can completely understand the viewpoints of those who prefer X-Box or just don't like the PS3. Oh, and I'm juggling my time between Little Big Planet 2 and Castle Crashers.
  4. Way things work in Greenville is that we'll get a wave of Minimates in, I buy my share, maybe a few extras to help move things along, and all is right in the world. Then, the next wave hits TRU's website, and I pass on them because we got the last one in stores. Then they don't ever get the next wave in stores, I spend a bunch on eBay to secure what I want. So, next time, they pop up on the website, I swoop in and buy some, only to have them show up in stores. I can't justify buying them twice since I do have a budget, so I pass on the ones in stores, maybe buy a duplicate or two. These clog up the store shelves, which means next time they don't put them on shelves, which is a shame because I skipped them online since they showed up last time.... It's very frustrating and hard to pinpoint which waves I need to plan on buying locally and which ones I need to forget and grab them online. And this only happens on the Marvel stuff. My local store has grabbed everything else, be it vehicles or 2-packs, but they can't seem to keep up with Marvel. Its entirely possible that they just don't put the newest case out since there's stuff left from the old case, and if at least one employee at my store cared about the customer, I could probably get them to check in back. Anyway, these things aren't in Greenville yet.
  5. They said it would be the other way around. They could have either changed their minds or just put them in the wrong place in the display.
  6. Gambit is a villain sometimes. Oh, fine, Taskmaster vs Scarlet Spider
  7. They called him Fido in GTA3, or at least one person did.
  8. Just like the two PSPs before it, the NGP is supposed to run digital games as well as cartridge games. The cartridges are supposed to be more like memory cards anyway. Personally, I think there's still room for handheld gaming.
  9. Minimadman wasn't at fault. Michael McGowan had a post up there about a Stryfe Minimate, which makes no sense seeing as it had nothing to do with the 2 year old topic. I was going to comment on his posting, but when I clicked reply, I saw Minimadman had posted the necro card and thought it was comment enough. I'm not sure where Michael's post went, but Minimadman isn't the one who necroed this thread.
  10. I don't really see an officially licensed Minimate sports line doing well. You'd have to do specific assortments for specific regions, which basically means they'd have to make the entire line in the first production run. We're talking somewhere around 30 teams with up to 40 some figures per team, depending on how far we're going with disabled players, managers, owners, etc. Per year. Otherwise, you lose most of your target consumers when you open with focus on one or two teams and force the rest of us to sit out until our preferred team shows up. You could do a versus assortment, where you get twice the teams out at a time, but depending on the rivalry, you may have people refusing to buy the sets simply because it has a damn Yankees/Braves/whatever player in the box. If we have to pay every player for their likeness, then things get even crazier. DST just isn't a big enough company to handle the kinds of demands it would require to get a sports memorabilia franchise off the ground.
  11. The Marvel movies are a given, though I fail to see how they'd shift the flagship off of Marvel, seeing that they are in fact Marvel movies. As for the rest, I have my doubts. The time for Tron has come and gone, with the same likely being said for Narnia. Lego has their hands in the Pirates license, which isn't a deal breaker, but DST is hard at work on their own generic pirate line, so I don't really see them investing a large sum of money in an official license when they can get by pretty well with their generic one. If the Spirit couldn't hit with buyers, I'm not so sure the Lone Ranger could (didn't even know there was one in the works, or are we talking the original, which likely would find even less action from buyers). Smurfs is just the latest turd in a toilet bowl filled with 3D movies, so I'm not expecting that to be the big announcement. I don't even know what John Carter of Mars is. As far as what the announcement could be, I doubt we'll see the revival of any of the fallen lines, so I'd rule out Street Fighter, DC, Doctor Who, Kellogg's, etc. To be honest, I think DST is just over reaching with their definition of "big". Most likely it will be either something from their generic line of Minimates, an actual plan regarding Battle Beasts, or something that we take for granted as news, like whatever the next Marvel line-up is after the various Marvel movie lines roll out. Or DST announces that they're getting out of the toy making business and are shifting focus to office supplies.
  12. Actually found the two exclusives and the additional "exclusive" on eBay for a reasonable price, so now I'm just waiting for the mail man. Actually, it might be a woman, but whoever it is, they deliver mail.
  13. No sign of these in Greenville, NC. Still. To top it off, some of the Minimate pegs have been consolidated to make room for more Sonic the Hedgehog figures. Ebay is looking more and more like my only hope.
  14. These are still not in the Greenville NC store, which means it looks like eBay will be my best bet now, unless someone can hook me up with the assortment. On the bright side, we still have some Thor/Lady Loki sets, a Storm/Klaw set, one or two Human Torch/Thing sets, a Secret Wars box set (damaged), probably a case or so of Iron Man 2 (now on clearance!), a case or so of Universal Monsters, maybe half a case of HALO, a case or so of MAX vehicles, a case or so of Warthogs, a case or so of BSG flyers, and a few left over BSG sets. There might even be a few Wolverine Origin sets.
  15. I've got both of you on my list, so that's a start. I managed to fling myself high enough into the air on one of the Da Vinci levels to where I could see a prize bubble, but could never duplicate the results to actually reach it. This game is going to be a lot harder to ace/100%.
  16. You can throw in some carnival games: dart throwing, basketball, shooting gallery, etc I'm always up for more. Maybe you, me, and darkredshdow can get a group going. Hopefully the connection won't be as sketchy as last night. Anyone mastered the grappling hook yet? I can't get the hang of swinging on it to get to the higher areas.
  17. I do like the multi-player aspect of this game better than the first game. There are several levels where you'd benefit from more than one person playing, be it from a score grabbing perspective, an extra gun, or just a chain of Sackboys to swing out over a large gap. The first game it was basically just drop in a second controller and leave the extra Sackboy behind until you get to the multi-player area and use him to hold a button down so you can grab some prize bubbles. I'll definitely have to get a group together for this one once I finish the story. And now that I'm working night shift, maybe my schedule will cross over with some other players out there.
  18. I think they've pretty much established in past Q&A sessions that we won't be seeing any special toy-line only costumes and that everything they do will have some basis in the comics. That being said, from all the What Ifs, Exiles, alternate histories, The End books, etc, they've probably had a Spider-Man from all these various proposed time periods, so why not.
  19. Why are we rebooting Spider-Man, but we keep pressing on with this train wreck? I'll probably skip this one. I'll get the Minimates though, assuming they make it to production.
  20. I just got to Avalon in the game, and its a blast. I think it might be a bit harder than the first game, though I may just be out of practice. I have a code for Clu and the More Animals pack too (not sure why Gamestop sends the codes out with a purchase of something that comes with them all anyway). I haven't really played with the costumes yet, do I dunno if you can resticker the neon colors or not.
  21. Little Big Planet 2, Skyrim, Arkham City, Portal 2 and any LEGO games that come our way are pretty much the only ones on my radar. Never got into the first Mass Effect, haven't even tried the 2nd one, so the 3rd one isn't high on my list at all. And the 3DS doesn't attract much interest from me either. I think its pretty cool that they can get 3D without glasses, but for the most part this 3D gaming stuff is just part of the same fad that James Cameron started and I wish would go away. On top of that Nintendo releases a new DS each year, so its hard to keep up. I can probably skip a generation on the 3DS and get it next year with a bigger screen and a few other features that they "hadn't thought of" this year. Don't get me wrong, I like my DS. It just seems like the Madden of handhelds.
  22. I think he has been a Ghost Buster in at least one episode. It's been so long since I watched that show.
