Pathfinder minimates!-First box set revealed

I recall Chuck saying at the panel in San DIego that they may be jumping ahead in the storyline to try and catch up to where things are in the book/show (no, not doing show Minimates, just thinking about where the show is narrative-wise). So maybe they're planning the Negan arc sooner than later?

Pathfinder minimates!-First box set revealed
Lobsterman replied to Kostisfire's topic in Indie Comics Minimates
From the chatter I've been seeing on Paizo's board/blog, it seems people are mostly interested in the exclusive gaming miniatures. I don't know if I would rush to the conclusions that 1) these were produced in quantities any lower than normal exclusives, 2) there's a run on them, and 3) we're going to be locked out of getting these completely. Of course, I could be wrong, like usual. -

And they're almost entirely parts reuse. This is how to show off Minimates' strength as a customizable, swappable line. I am very, very excited for these! -

Information seems to be trickling out through several sources. http://www.enworld.org/forum/content.php?1816-Final-Pathfinder-Minimate!#.U-t0f1a50qk http://www.enworld.org/forum/content.php?1793-Exlcusive!-23-Pages-of-D-D-5E-List-of-Specializations-plus-a-new-PATHFINDER-Goblin-Minimate!#.U-t0Ila50qk http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/v5748dyo5lgds&page=3?Friday-Publisher-Preview-Iconic-Heroes-Return http://www.crittohit.com/fantasy/paizo-pathfinder-battles-lost-coast-iconics-minimates So... sounds like lots of exclusives to track down. -
You should put on an old-timey swimsuit and dive into your Minimate bin, Scrooge McDuck-style, to celebrate! Have a great one!

Retail on the 1984 set was $60, but it seems to be leveling out around $100 on ebay.

Also, (altogether now)… "it's not in the license."

This would have been quite a bombshell to accidentally leak from the TRU website. Nice work with the very convincing mockup.

Yeah, I'm sure I'm going to experience a bit of a crash in a few weeks… after I've lost all control and splurged on every available figure...
-
I actually did miss the 1984 set at Comic Con, but got lucky enough to snag it when it was up on the Hasbro site for like 5 minutes on Monday before it sold out. Still waiting for my shipping notice, though, so I'm a little antsy... The two current waves of Micro Changers appear to be mostly movie characters, or classic characters with "inspired by the movie" deco. I really hope i'm not jumping onboard with these right when Hasbro is winding the line down. I should probably know better than to trust Hasbro to keep any line going for more than two years.

Well, HP, if you're offering… at the moment I'm mainly after Hook, Quickslinger, and Blast Off...

So... When I first saw these a couple years ago at SDCC, I thought "hey, that's pretty cool, especially those combiners, but... nah." The first couple waves released were pretty heavy on beast wars and later stuff, and I've always been a G1 fan. I've gone back and taken second looks over the past couple years, and my interest has grown, but it hit the tipping point when that Class of 1984 set was announced for SDCC. All of the classic G1 heavy hitters, in one box, for a very reasonable price. So, I decided to jump in. I bought a Defensor combiner set as an amuse-bouche... and now, dammit, I'm hooked. And, I'm getting to experience the sensation newcomers to Minimate collecting must feel – you can gorge yourself on so many figures that have been released already, not having to be patient or wait for new stuff, because everything is new to you. On the flip side, I'm also feeling the pain of hunting for older releases that are going for kind of crazy prices on the secondary market, or are seemingly impossible to find at all. Ah, springtime for a collector...

Fandom is fickle. Also, I think we may be mistakenly conflating "some people here will be happy" with "these two waves are 100% fanwank"
-
It's amazing how fast we went from the post-SDCC "marvel minimates are clearly dead, I'm selling my collection" to "SQUEEEEEEE"

How else would they know who to let into the cool superhero nightclubs?

Question: what the hell is Kelsey Grammer doing in this movie?

Otherwise known as Mrs. Edison's Folly. -
I don't care about Korath. I don't care about the Collector. I don't care about Nove Prime, or alternate costumes. I just want a Minimate of Cosmo.

Gaaaaahhhhhhh! Just put some more salt in that wound, guys!

Zach specifically highlighted Carl at the panel, so I think he's pretty safe.

For such an old property, I would guess it's mainly nostalgia driving the purchase decision. Of course people who want to collect all of them would want the first set, but with the first set having completely sold through, them must be just as many people who were content to get Lion-O and call it a day. If they were produced in equal numbers (or even in subsequently decreasing numbers), it seems backwards to assume the later sets didn't sell out because the first one did.
