  1. @Kostis: Just to clarify, I don't think you're a crazy person, I was just weighing in on why we had those three and not MK.
  2. I myself just found Venom this past week. I'm not sure I'd rate him quite as highly as you (The Ant-Man wave is coloring my opinion a little bit), but I agree with all the points you make and I think he's a really fun figure! I think the figure I'm most impressed with right now is Bulldozer. I never got any of the other Wrecking Crew figures and mostly picked this one up for the Ultron piece, but I find myself really enjoying the figure.
  3. In defense of Dazzler and Howard: They've both had recognition outside of just comics. Howard had his own movie (yeah, it wasn't exactly good, but it still happened) and at one point had a freaking presidential campaign running. Add in the fact that he's carried his own series several times over the years and you've got a character with some recognition, especially to the older audience. Sure, he's c-list at best, but he does have several points in his favor. Dazzler was initially created as a cross-media character (though it didn't quite work out), stuck with the X-Men for a fair bit of time, has held her own series, and is in A-Force, which has been getting a fair bit of coverage. All that plus the fact that the set is tied-in with Secret Wars makes it a reasonable set. Sure, it's a more obscure choice than usual, but I actually don't think it's much more out there than Jubilee and Destiny. As for Moon Knight (who I am actually a pretty big fan of, by the way), it's easy to see why he's a hard sell. He's had a few series over the years, but nothing that's really lasted, especially recently. The biggest problem he faces, in my eyes, is that no two creators can agree on how he should be handled, meaning he doesn't really have a defined character. Also, the character's never had much of a presence outside of comics, aside from a few video games that had lots of other characters. Shanna's inclusion in 51 probably was mostly to do with the fact that her co-star at the time was Wolverine. Moon Knight's co-star was.... Moon Knight. Getting back on topic: I think that DD 'mates would be really cool, and I really think they would do well. The show was a pretty massive success. Before it premiered, season 2 was at best a distant possibility. In less than a month, it was fast tracked for next year. I'd say that's a pretty good indicator of how Season 1 performed. DST seems to have made up their minds that Season 1 'mates won't be happening, and that's their call, but I think overlooking Season 2 would be a mistake.
  4. Well, to be fair, the last Bullseye wasn't particularly easy to get, even when he was brand new. He was a TRU exclusive before they stopped one-per casing them, and the wave he was in didn't make it to every TRU. I only have mine thanks to a very kind fellow boardie. I can't imagine trying to find one now. And the one before that looks horrendously out of place with anything post series 5. So, I could see why people might want another shot, especially if he's going to be in DD Season 2.
  5. I just got my Alien Series 4 set. I've only opened the basic Ripley so far, but I really love her
  6. 2099's all over the place here. In fact, the only figure from that set that I don't see quite as consistently is DD. And I went ahead and pre-ordered Giant Man from Amazon, just in case I don't come across him in the next few weeks.
  7. I found all of the Ant-Man wave except Giant Man at my local TRU. Picked them up. Hope Giant-Man isn't too hard to get, though I doubt he will be. And now I'm super excited for that Ant-Man boxed set!
  8. Minimates Menagerie is a scalper. On more than one occasion, he's bought up a large chunk of TRU's online stock of exclusives, and then he turns around and charges a premium for them on his eBay store. Scalpers in general just suck, but Menagerie has a negative reputation here due to being the most prominent Minimate scalper.
  9. Yeah, Crouching Tiger, the Bruce Lee stuff, KISS and the other music stuff, and the first round of Trek 'mates are all 3"
  10. I'm definitely on board with Chef and Gonzo. The others are okay, but not great. Kermit's definitely the weakest link, though. Of, course, I tend to like the finished product much more than prototypes when it comes to Minimates, so I might change my mind when they're released.
  11. Yeah, the 2" body was designed for Marvel. When LOTR came along, they created the 2.5" body for normal human-sized characters and used the 2" for the hobbits and dwarves.
  12. The last set in Aliens Wave 1, Cpl. Dietrich & Colonist Mary. Enjoy!
  13. I am so sorry to hear about this. My condolences go out to you and your family.
  14. Thread necro! No new customs, but, with the release of the official Aliens Minimates, I dug out my old customs for a bit of a look back. Check it out here!
  15. ToyBiz did one in their 5-inch Spidey line, but only the head was split. The rest was just a normal civilian body. I like the Minimates version better, though
  16. Another Aliens set today, Pvt. Drake & Battle-Damaged Attacking Alien. Enjoy!
  17. Thanks, Danny! Your old MMC reviews served as quite an influence for me when I started my blog, so I guess that makes me a good fit Continuing my Aliens reviews, here's Sgt. Apone & Warrior Alien. Enjoy!
  18. See, and that's why I hated both Disassembled and House of M. They ruined a fantastic character. Elizabeth Olsen's version was very much who Scarlet Witch was before all that crap.
  19. To be honest, nothing here really seems incredibly different from what Marvel was doing before Secret Wars. Not that that's a bad thing, per say, since I was enjoying several books they were putting out. The images here don't really scream "All-New All-Different" to me, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the actual books are like when they hit. I'm cautiously optimistic.
  20. @karamazov80: Yeah, the likeness is definitely not as good as that Kyle Reese, but I think it's manageable enough, for me anyway. @Mnemosis: Thanks! I want to see about working out some sort of a head thing for him, and he should have the white streak in his hair.
