  1. Holy Sh!t!!!!!! That is insanely awesome! It kills me that I have to wait until after SDCC to have mine shipped. Seeing the ship displayed with the crew gives me a better sense of the scale than any of the other pics have so far. I just can't believe TRU passed on this!! Let's hope we get a Ent-D and more ships, because this is just unfreakingbelieveably cool!
  2. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/07/microsoft-xbox-one-advertising-will-integrate-with-kinect/ XBone - Lean, Mean, Advertising Machine!
  3. Great pics! I'm not even a fan, but now I want to QC a Walker, Texas Ranger! As for Scott Bakula, shouldn't he be wearing a goofy outfit or something He cross-dressed more often than Bugs Bunny! I wanted to make a Quantum Leap set too, but I really don't like the Archer face - having that chin makes him look very obese. Maybe I'll Brasso one off and see how it looks.
  4. So, the description for the SDCC Panel states an "unannounced license". Hope it's LOTR / Hobbit!!
  5. The worst part of anything can be it's fans. (Except Minimates, of course) I've gotten to where I just avoid "fan" discussions on Doctor Who, Star Trek, Star Wars, comics, video games, etc. Most "fans" lack the ability to understand that not everyone is going to agree with them 100% on their opinions. Take Doctor Who. There's been 11 Doctors. So there's a 1 in 11 chance that your favorite Doctor and another fan's favorite Doctor are the same. Is that kind of thing worth getting all bent out of shape about? And the teeth-gnashing that goes on among Star Trek fans regarding the JJ Abrams reboot. Some people have the attitude that if they don't like the JJ-verse, then no one is allowed to. (And then they fail to realize it's the media exposure of JJ Trek that gets us classic Trek minimates and Blu-Ray restorations of TNG! So JJ Trek isn't 100% bad, but some people won't listen to that)
  6. Maybe you should consider making your own swatch-book to save time? like have blocks of "flesh" variants, blue, red, etc saved, printed and named and then you can go to it any time to check against the figure, and use the dropper tool to pick the color in photoshop? Then you only print once? (assuming you haven't done that already.)
  7. Wow Luke! Those are incredible! How do you color match your stickers so well?
  8. If you're skipping on the Minimate vehicles, you're really missing out, especially on the awesomely-designed pirate ship (any deco!)
  9. How did you switch out the shins?? Nice job, BTW!
  10. Now that you have the 3D printer, time to revisit this thread! German Helmets! I want to customize some Ratzi's for Captain America to beat up on, and I don't see DST making these guys. BTTF Einstein - surely that breed of dog isn't trademarked GB Ecto-1 - without the added greebles or insignia, it's just a car, right?
  11. Anyone know why BBTS still haven't listed their 2-packs as in stock yet?
  12. I would kill for Babylon 5 Minimates!! But I really doubt that would happen Otherwise, 80's Flash Gordon is my first choice, as long as Brian Blessed is in the first wave with his huge shit-eating grin! I think I would forego wishlisting for an entire month to get that! But a Buck Rodgers 4-pack at least would be cool, as long as we get Twiki. And I'd be down for Farscape mates as well, but I feel like that ship may have long sailed. If anyone else here is a Huge Babylon 5 fan like me, there's a 20th Anniversary behind-the-scenes book on cafepress. Mine should be shipping any day now, and I can't WAIT to get it! And as for the Q&A question about more Terminator minimates, I guess DSTChuck hasn't heard of the confirmed new Trilogy starring Arnold scheduled for release 6-26-2015?
  13. So, you're saying they are just making room for MORE Disney Minimates!
  14. What does it say about this line when I watched several people (adults and children) pass on this line at $4.99 each at one of my local stores? As much as I might have liked them, these mates really couldn't compete with the PVC figurine box sets. Those were more eye catching, had more accessories, and had the crocodile. I'm really pleased that Disney took a chance on these. I just hope this doesn't sour them on doing more Disney-mates. One of my other local stores sold out of everything back when they were $9.99. But $5 for 4 mates including the new smaller body? Plus stands and other useful parts? Custom-fodder Heaven! My stores have all been picked clean at this point, so maybe another online order is in order
  15. Kirk from "Return of the Archons" - Kirk Head, UM Van Helsing body You can do the same for McCoy, but the body would need to be painted.
  16. Is Wolverine still "short" in the comics anyway? I'm not an avid reader these days, but it seems like artists interpret him as average height more often than short.
  17. It's a shame they didn't have the shorter body available for Alpha Flight's Puck.
  18. I thought it was some kind of mold-release agent, because it comes off when you touch it. It looks nice in the package, but a single swipe with your finger and it's off.
  19. Thanks. I'd *love* to be wrong. Sincerely. But things keep heading in a direction I refuse to follow. I recently got a tablet for school. I love this thing. But every game has microtransactions. And they require "special permissions" to be installed, and you can't pick and choose what you will or won't allow. They do not need access to my contacts, my data, etc. I do not need my games to beep and alert me while I'm studying to tell me that my "village is under attack" and other such nonsense. And my wife and I liked Candy Crush, but clicking an icon immediately takes you to purchase items. There are no instructions, no clicking to see what a button is for. It's designed to trick you into making microtransactions, which is why we have the stories of parents whose children rack up such huge fees in these types of games. As a seasoned, adult gamer, I see how easy it is to inadvertantly make a few microtransactions here and there. Because they feel most people won't complain to get a dollar or two refunded, most people will just "suck it up", and said business practices continue. I won't tie in my credit card to my tablet for this reason. But everything is working it's way to make it "easier" for you to pay to play. No, Amazon, I don't want to enable one-click purchasing, I wan to think my order over before I commit to buy! No, Sony/MS, I don't want auto-renewal on your services, I want to decide if I want to renew, not fight you for a refund!
  20. Geo, I don't know what you were reading but it sounded to me like people were very aware and specific as to why they were angry. Myself included. Microsoft is now, and to me will forever be, "the girl who cheated and got caught" - MS is only expressing it's apologies because that's what they think we want to hear, NOT because it's what they mean or believe. And since they "turned off" the DRM with a switch, they can easily turn it on again in the future with any software update. All they have to do, in THEIR minds, is get a large enough installed user-base, "win" the next console war, then they can go right back to what they wanted to do all along with just a software update. Nope, I'm not taking that chance, and I really question anyone who can't see this as a possibility. But the biggest problem to me, which has NOT been changed, is the constantly-connected Kinnect 2.0. I'm not accepting a spycam in my home that has the ability to register whether I'm paying attention to their ads by tracking my eye movements. You think the current "skip this ad after X seconds" is annoying, wait until they decide you can't skip until Kinnect registers that you've focused on their ad for X seconds - no going to the kitchen while it plays, etc. And a camera that can track how many people you have in the room, and decide that you're "exhibiting" a movie or game and refuses to play! Holidays with the family over could potentially brick your system or require you to pay more money to watch a movie with more than 2-4 people in the room! This is where the industry is trying to force us to go. Giving up actual ownership of your media is only the beginning. How many Star Wars fans own the legal versions of the Ewok movies or Droids cartoons that have been removed from the market? What if someone decided they didn't want an older movie to be playable anymore? What happens when Disney wants to place it's movies back in their Vault again, do you lose access to your cloud-based purchase, because you never truly "owned" it? Does anyone remember Circuit City's DIVX DVD program where you paid for every time you watched a DVD?? Do you guys know what's actually going on currently in Hollywood, where the studios and producers are freaking out at the loss of revenue because people aren't buying DVDs in the same numbers as before because of streaming and Amazon rentals? Microsoft's system is paving the way for another DIVX-style program, and Hollywood is drooling over it! Why do you think the first MS press conference for the XBone was so heavily focused on TV? Do you really want to wind up paying every single time you watch something?? Do you want to be charged micro-transactions for each replay of a show or movie, and for how many people are present in the room with you? This is precisely what Hollywood believes your future SHOULD be. It is NOT a simple matter of video games. It goes far, far deeper than that. And people are willingly giving up just to play the newest games. And it's not a matter of being "dull" or having "nothing to hide". It's all about advertising, revenue, and making sure that everyone is paying their fees.
  21. I'm okay with the occasional TRU 2-pack. I also don't need a full DD wave. Starting with Typhoid Mary in her 80's look. But as Stegron pointed out, only 2 Thor villains? That's almost criminal!! Jack Kirby designed a lot of great stuff for Asgard, we need to see more of it in Minimate form.
