  1. Yes it would certainly be terrible for Minimates to get coverage from news outlets all over the world.
  2. Man we really need to make Puerto Rico a state so the Minimate sales take effect.
  3. Coming here to say this! It's a good time to pick up fodder and/or clear out your local Walgreens so that the get in some new stuff. I bought five sets yesterday.
  4. Appropriate that the Walking Dead would come to a surprise end since shocking the reader was the only trick the comic ever had.
  5. Sometimes they do this really well. I love, for example, that Spider-Man/ Chameleon set with all the extra stuff. The Mr Fantastic/ Puppet Master set's another good example. But I agree, those should be the norm and not exceptions.
  6. I don't buy ReAction figures, save for the Rocketeer, but these...these I will buy: http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/super7-welcomes-you-to-the-world-of-peanuts-and-good-ol-charlie-brown-this-year-at-sdcc/
  7. I think the toy industry is going to be hit hard by this, and the small collector-based companies in particular. I wonder at what price point a toy like Minimates stops being feasible. But I'd like to see them maybe give blister cards a try, something like Mega Construx and Super7 have done.
  8. Thanks! Yeah, Juggernaut helmet (I also used that to make Ram Man; it's a great piece). Optimus is, of course, a Kreon head. They fit over the Minimate neck pretty perfectly, and those with the bigger slip on pieces look really good. So in addition to Optimus you can make Soundwave, Shockwave, Wheeljack, and probably some others. I'm also working on Starscream (my favorite) without the Kreon head.
  9. FYI, for anyone curious about non-Lego minifigs, this is a great site: https://downtheblocks.blogspot.com/ The person who runs it lives in the Philippines, so he not only keeps up to date with the releases, but offers reviews as well.
  10. I don't think so. Usually the figures are remade, but I don't think the sets are. They released a homage to the cover of Action Comics #1, and I don't think the set was ever recreated, though the figure was. Lego's exclusives seem to be the hardest to acquire every year, and go for ridiculous aftermarket prices.
  11. It's been quite awhile since I shared any customs on here, but I've started posting some on Instagram, so I figured I'd put them here as well, starting with Optimus Prime and Megatron:
  12. One problem a lot of these movie sets have is that they don't appeal to comic book shop buyers (meaning the people who place orders for their shops). The Rocketeer would at least in theory do much better with them than, say, Dark Tower or John Wick. Anecdotally, it seems to me that Rocketeer merchandise does pretty well, moreso than you'd expect for a 25 year old movie that wasn't a hit. Certainly the fact that the movie outfit is basically indistinguishable from the comics helps.
  13. I mean, you could say the same thing for John Wick, or the Dark Tower, or any number of other movie sets. Personally, I think releasing more two packs like the Iron Giant would be the way to go, and I could even see them releasing just the Rocketeer as a single. Or why not a Minimate/Vinimate combo set?
  14. Since BHM posted the Kubrick, I figured I'd show off my old custom too...
  15. So I just saw an update of DST's November solicitations, which includes this: This is the first DST Rocketeer piece that I've ever seen. Is it even remotely possible that we might get a Rocketeer box set? I think I might faint dead away if we did.
  16. Ten, I'm not gonna lie, I was waiting for a more detailed response from you.
  17. True! There's actually a lot of MOTU items on Shapeways, so making customs of those characters is easier that you'd think.
  18. I can tell you for a fact that DST has been told by the Star Wars people in the past that they won't do Minimates because of Legos. Whether that's because of a licensing restriction or them deciding that they don't want to dilute their (very profitable) LSW line is not for me to say. But DST has tried, and was rebuffed, and that's why.
  19. Your skills are really top notch. Painting is my least favorite part of the process, so I never do it unless I have to, and certainly not detailing unless there's no way around it.
  20. LOL I just bought it from BBTS too! It should be here shortly. I'll let you know how it works, but I saw someone post a picture with a Mega Construx figure and it looked pretty good, so I think it will fit a Minimate just about perfectly.
