  1. For what its worth, the one store in Louisiana that I called which had it in their systems said that they had one case of 3.
  2. The complete series' for cult faves Twin Peaks and My So Called Life are being released today, as well, if anyone is interested. . .
  3. I don't know if they receive afternoon shipments or not, but I'm pretty sure my LCS gets stuff on Wednesday, too. Even Minimates (got the latest wave of DCers last Wednesday eve)!
  4. But we do already have 2 versions of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in the DCD line, plus we've got at least one more variant of each in the pipeline. Its not as extreme as the 20 different Wolverines or Spidermen that came out or anything, but is this line really so different? Personally, I am generally in favor of new, different characters, but I am loving the classic Batman coming out, and I would buy a Beast that doesn't look like a cat much sooner than I would buy some other forthcoming Marvel figures.
  5. Sinestro's being released as well. . .
  6. Why is Texas getting the motherload of MP SS, I wonder? Anyway, they had one over at the Wal-Mart where my mom lives near New Orleans this morning (I called b/c they seem to get all the exclusives for some reason), and she picked it up for me this afternoon. Whenever I drive home next, I'll have one, too ! Then, my Masterpiece Megs can start calling him an idiot, and getting pissed whenever Starscream tries to depose him. Good times.
  7. Didn't all those guys have the same yellow and blue outfits, with the unnecessary pouch on one of their thighs? If so, DST could save some money by releasing one body and a bunch of interchangeable heads that you would buy separately. That way, they would only lose money for the unpopular heads that weren't bought, not the unpopular figures as a whole! Of course, the bodies might turn out to be unpopular also. edit:
  8. There are truly few feelings as powerful as regret. . .
  9. A Dawn of the Dead set is a brilliant idea! Though I would actually suggest a "Dead" 2-pack anthology series, with Ben and zombie, Barbara and zombie, Flyboy zombie and Peter, Bub and Sarah, etc. Next to Big Lebowski or Miller's Crossing Minimates, that would be an absolute dream come true for me. Now that I see MartyCC's post, a Ghostbusters set would be even more awesome. . .
  10. I've got to say, I'm the opposite of impressed. I am actually looking forward to this movie based on the trailers I had seen--losing Paul W.S. seems to have done wonders--but that thing. . .yeesh. . . a BIG
  11. I know this is responding to a post from a long while ago, but I say look at either: 1) eBay: you can find a lot of less popular, but still good TBPs for under 10 bucks from comic shops selling stuff there, and you can usually save on shipping by ordering multiples; 2) TFAW.com: they sell "dinged" TPBs for around 50% off. A few months ago, I got several hard to find GI Joe TPBs there for around 11 bucks a piece, and the damage was negligible (I mean, who collects TPBs in order to keep them in mint condition, anyway?). Regarding the newer, more popular stuff like 52, I can't help you much (though you could check TFAW). Amazon may be as good as anything.
  12. I don't care that I haven't received anything, but since you guys seem to want to figure out who got the figures and why, I did the Target receipt mail-in as well, so there may be something else to it (maybe a lottery of names from those that participated?).
  13. Regarding the Marvel UK stuff, let me throw in my vote for, um, (Alan Davis is my all time favorite comic artist, btw). He ain't that obscure, but he needs to be made. An original Excalibur team box set (w/new paint jobs for Nightcrawler and Kitty) would be awesome, and certainly no less obscure than the Defenders. . .
  14. The head does look better on that prototype. . .
  15. Welcome. I just joined earlier in the month, but this has fast become my favorite toy-related forum. Hopefully you will agree. . .regarding the MST3K references, I just saw Film Crew: Killers from Space last night, and their constant ribbing on Peter Graves and his Biography connection was beyond awesome.
  16. Its no rush at all (I haven't even acquired all the necessary extra pieces yet--I'm not getting rid of my existing Minimates for this), but I think Hawkeye's quiver is actually molded to his extra, molded chest piece. It could still work, but I'll probably end up using the Pocket Heroes version that I already have. I think that one works pretty well. . .
  17. I agree with your sentiment, though this issue makes me realize how it frustrates me that we sometimes get less iconic variants before we get classic figures. Salient examples here being Archangel (though I plan on getting the chase and making a classic Angel), Astonishing Kitty and Beast, "new" JSAers like Stargirl, etc. I understand that DST wants to mix the current with the old-school, but one of the reasons that I like Minimates so much is because they are iconic distillations of characters. When you get newer versions of characters, or variations released first (or alone), it takes away from that somewhat. And what's with making regular Punisher, Symbiote Spidey, and probably the most commonly seen Starbuck exclusives or chase figs? These are popular and "iconic" takes on these characters, not obscure variations. . . I could probably do without ever seeing another Wolverine or Cyclops Minimate released, though. . .
  18. With USPS (which I have had the most experience with), I can tell you that it sometimes takes a couple of days before an item would show up on their page that monitors tracked items, but a month is not a couple of days. My only other tracking experience was with a package shipped from Canada that was given tracking info. In this case, the tracking number never worked for me, though the item did arrive. I haven't had any experience with items shipped from the UK. I'm thinking that one potential explanation could stem from the strike. It seems like a strike would mean that the item was held up in an atypical fashion. As such, any messages concerning normal shipping expectations might not mean much. Given my experience, to me, that message could mean the item was just sent, that there was no item sent at all, or that it was sent and the system just isn't working correctly. In other words: it might mean something, it might mean nothing.
  19. Exceptions have to be made for Giant Man and Black Panther, though. How wacky is it for the first releases of these characters to be zombie variants? On a related note, you guys have probably noticed that the Defenders box set Hulk is essentially a cleaned-up zombie Hulk. . .could it be that DTS made all 3 of the "new" Zombie figures (including the Giant Man and Black Panther) anticipating a normal release in a forthcoming wave?
  20. I'm definitely getting this thing, but I'm not getting too excited just yet. It took nearly a month after the first 25th Joes were sighted at a Wal-Mart that I finally found some around here. The Wal-Marts in this area suck, big time. . .(I say this as I get ready to drive around town anyway. . . ).
  21. As far as relatively obscure characters that will likely never get figures made of them, I would like to see the Squadron Supreme and the Great Lakes Avengers box sets. I'm sure that those would sell like hot cakes! I don't know how they could pull off Flatman, though. . .
  22. Ask and ye shall receive: http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=vie...600&start=0 (though this may not be the "green shirt" you are referring to. . .) Though I like the original Trek series, I didn't like it enough to get all these new Minimates. On the other hand, I also grew up watching TNG (I actually recall seeing the pilot's first airing when I was a wee child), and will have no choice but to buy Riker, Data, et al. if/when released.
  23. No kidding. He was my absolute favorite character on the cartoon, and that toy is too awesome-looking. . .plus, I just got my Masterpiece Megatron in the mail yesterday, and he looks awfully lonely. My only worry is that SS will be as hard to come by as the Wal-Mart Alternators were around here. . .
  24. I'm feeling fairly confident that that particular hat won't actually make it to production. For the most part, I haven't seen any major mis-steps like this with the Mates that have actually been produced recently, and that hat is clearly just wrong. But, even if it is, like you suggested, I'll probably just shave it down and maybe use some epoxy putty and brown paint to make it look more appropriate.
  25. I disagree with everyone else. It is too late, there is no hope, just give up!! Seriously though, I only started when the first wave of DC Mates came out, and now I have nearly all the figures that I wanted. . .damn you, Nightcrawler!
