  1. Are you sure that none of the items you ordered are "available in 2-3 weeks" or something along that line?
  2. Check out their "black Friday" sale, its another semi-rip off. They are selling the same things that were already on sale for slightly less money (around 1 cent for some items, a couple of dollars on some other, more expensive ones--mostly very marginal differences from what I can tell). Though I admit that the offer for 10 bucks off and a "free" Web Armor Spidey for orders over 75 dollars of "in stock" items is not too bad. . .
  3. "Communists and Black Magic users. Illegal aliens and lesbians. The Far Right is definitely not going to dig this series of adorable DC MiniMates." http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/toyfare/006408269.cfm
  4. Just wanted to note that I am disappointed that we will probably never see Nighthawk or Gargoyle minimates. . .
  5. I pretty much just stand my Minimates up for display, so I have yet to experience a break with Kitty, Green Arrow, etc.
  6. "Classics" Soundwave was not that hard to find in the stores, and they have a recently reissued Japanese version, so if you are asking about the rarity of him, I don't think it is urgent that you track him down before the price goes up or anything. If you are asking about how worth buying he is for the sake of owning him. . .well, I think he's pretty cool. The Classics version has an extended tape tray that can hold 2 tapes at once, and he comes with two of the best, classic tapes (Ravage and Laserbeak) all in classic G1 style, so I think its worth getting (I wish they re-released the others. . .). However, if you have the original and the original tapes (I bought mine for the tapes alone), there's not much difference between them.
  7. If anyone really wants this figure but doesn't want to jump through too many hoops, I would be willing to procure one in order to trade for a Minimate Nightcrawler. If anyone is interested, PM me. . . --update: pending a trade with TBT!--

  9. That's the idea, 5 random famous people in each wave. You have to buy all five waves to get all of the great religious prophets or overweight directors, for instance. They could even do a "build a figure" Maximate Buddha, Andre the Giant, or Zeus.
  10. I agree with that. Regarding cartoons, GI Joe Minimates would be great. I would personally like to see general "famous figures" minimates, though. Abe Lincoln, Jesus, Nietzsche, Elvis, Alfred Hitchcock. Now that's a five-pack that I would buy.
  11. Well, you could buy a cheap, plain, plastic plate from Wal-Mart or the dollar store, spray paint it silver, print out the logo on a color printer, paste it to the silver table and spray some Tester's clear gloss enamel over it so that it would look semi-professional. Then, you prop it on top of a sturdy, cylindrical, but cheap hard plastic cup similarly spray-painted for the base. Don't know about chairs, but the Superfriends don't look like they could sit down easily, anyway.
  12. There is a forthcoming Scarlet Spider Minimate: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=3577 If you wanted to do Kubrick/Minimate comparisons, there is already a topic that started discussing those differences: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.ph...=3386&st=20 But I don't think the Mods would be too upset if you started one explicitly discussing that. . . Welcome, by the way!
  13. Tekken seems like a strange license to start with. I like the look of those figures, but I can't see buying figures of characters that I have a very marginal familiarity with.
  14. I don't have any of the Superfriends toys, but I do have Muppet toys, which, I think, are roughly the same size. So here is a comparison of Rowlf, a Minimate, a DC Direct figure, and the table. Far too small for your purposes, I would hazard to guess:
  15. In some places, they are apparently easy to find. Around here. . .not so much. I have yet to see a wave 3 figure in the store. However, Snake Eyes (V2), Storm Shadow (V2), and hooded Cobra Commander are all over the place (these were packed with more than one per case, are not army builders, and were released with more than one wave, which is why they are easy to find). Here are some pics of the newest announced Joes for pre-order from BBTS: Torpedo, Rock n' Roll, and armor Cobra Commander/CG Fred VII: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/attachment.p...tid=1701&d=
  16. I could potentially be suckered into that (the free shipping deal on higher priced items). I try to compute shipping and price in my mind when I determine "cost," but really high shipping (like AFX has) somehow makes me more averse to buying. Its not that I'm offended that they are offering the higher cost, I just have a harder time making the justification to buy, and there is no rational reason that this should be the case, in itself. If AFX offered 5 dollar shipping on the Defenders set, I probably would have already bought it. But instead, I'm waiting to see it appear elsewhere for lower shipping. . .that's probably 3 measly bucks tops, but it does make a difference to me.
  17. Indeed, though since this thread is about misspellings, I must correct your mistake spelling neighbors (just kidding)! You also made me realize that I spelled my city's name wrong, its obviously Baton ROGUE. And here I was, a part of the problem the whole time
  18. That's really cool. It makes me think about a custom Brain from the "Brotherhood of Evil" http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e...brotherhood.png

  20. This pretty much sums it up I'd say block figures are probably best looked on as small, stylized interpretations of people. Rather than Action figures being much closer to a fully sculpted human figure. It's simply like difference between someone taking a photo of something and someone painting a picture, both are valid forms of art... both are the same subject they are just different mediums. T. Thanks for helping me out there TBT A very lucid explanation.
  21. No offense, but nothing would make me happier than to see the Bucs lose every game for the rest of the season. . .because the 'Aints need all the help they can get to reach the playoffs.
  22. So, then there is a distinction to be made: "block figures" are different than "action figures." Can anyone tell me precisely what distinguishes them in the informed collector's lexicon (such as Artemis and TBT, who simply do not view them as 'action figures')? Is it the cube for a torso? If so, then are the Pocket Super Heroes action figures? Is it size? Is it durability (it seems like would be hard to "play" with Minimates without them constantly falling apart)? It can't be articulation, because Minimates have better articulation than lots of other "action figures." Is it all based on the licensing restrictions from DST? Or is it just one of those things like pornography where: "you know it when you see it"? This may be an "academic" issue, but I didn't initially know why "Artemis" didn't consider them action figures, as I consider them as much action figures as my GI Joes. But I guess I just don't know, and lord knows I don't want to embarrass myself any further by remaining ignorant on such an important matter.
  23. I just read this, and thought it was so true : "Minimates, huh? I never really got the craze for them - sure, they're cute, but isn't a real action figure better?" http://www.oafe.net/artemis/bsgmmvpbg.php D'oh! He does then suggest that "their cuteness is kind of winning me over," but nonetheless, I thought this might be discussion-worthy. Are minimates somehow not "real" action figures? What defines a "real" action figure? Action poses, action like the Super Powers toys punching when you push their legs together, kids being able to play with them without their falling apart? Something else? And ultimately, is a "real" action figure better than an imposter? These are deep, philosophical questions, but questions that we, as Minimate fans, should not be afraid to ask if we are to reach the Minimate Nirvana state. . .
  24. Apparently the 24 Season 1 Minimates are now included in the 25 dollar, clearance deal. . .
  25. Well, I ordered a Nightcrawler off of eBay the week before last, and he was apparently "lost in the mail." So, if anyone here has a Nightcrawler Minimate in good shape, I will trade a Cylon 5-pack for him. PM me if interested.
