  1. Poor Bjork. I would be sad to leave a cool cat like that, as well.
  2. I'm not against this style of toys per se, but I don't get the appeal for characters from different eras. If they want to do mid-80s characters that never had toys originally, like Goonies or Terminator, make them look like figures from the mid-80s. Jaws makes perfect sense as a Star Wars/Alien prototype styled toy, though. I even get the MUSCLE He-Man figures, since they were more or less from the same time period, and it's possible we would have seen those figures in that format. But since I'm not a kid of the '70s, I'm probably not going to get it, and I'm not the target demographic I'm sure. If we saw Man with No Name or Godfather or Jaws figures that looked like mid-80s GI Joes, I would probably be strongly compelled to buy!
  3. I still don't really understand the idea of doing those kinds of toys for characters created/released in the mid-80s or later, but. . .this is pretty cool.
  4. Wow, I missed this thread before. Love those customs! I don't recognize a single one from comics I actually read, but they so perfectly represent that era. Guy with the roulette wheel on his chest and climbing guy are my favorites, but Mace Hand guy isn't far behind. I can't believe the Masters of the Universe creative team didn't steal him.

  6. I never did pick up the Sesame Kubs. I considered it a few times, but the cost always put me off to it. I did get a full set of multi-colored Oscars for a song once, though.
  7. Avalanche channeling Kool-Aid Man!
  8. If you weren't into MUSCLE as a kid, then you can't possibly understand!
  9. Welcome back! Your dreams were your ticket out.
  10. Dig those MOTU MUSCLE guys, but like the folks commenting on that link, I bet they're over-priced. I would buy them in a heartbeat for $5-6, though.
  11. Love them. Sorry, but I don't think that's the case. Most actually have a round kind of shape to them. Original Kermit was kind of a glorified sock puppet, but from the '70s on even he has a round stomach. And he's one of the thinner Muppets.
  12. Wacky Races could make for an awesome wave of Minimates. But it wouldn't sell very well I bet. Maybe a generic, classic Hanna Barbera license would though. Yogi, Huckleberry Hound, Adam Ant, Space Ghost, Birdman, Captain Caveman, Dino-Mutt, Hong Kong Fooey, Quick Draw McGraw. Wasn't Flintstones and the Jetsons Hanna Barbera?
  13. Good post, and that would make sense. If the investment is to be made, why not capitalize on it in the most efficient way possible. DD and black suit DD are going to be the only really desirable figures from season 1 IMO. Fisk and ninja might seem like potential sellers, but I can see them peg warming (the Wolverine was full of ninjas no one wanted to buy). Of course, if season 2 has Punisher, Bullseye, and maybe Elektra. . .
  14. While I don't know if it would have helped to move hundreds of sets, I think it's definitely a problem when folks who are into Thundercats were unable to get the core, most iconic member of the team. Backup good guys and the rogue's gallery don't mean much without an adult Lion-O. They probably should have done a couple of adult Lion-O variants with subsequent box sets to help move them. As for MASK, I would definitely love to see those, though the main gimmick with the originals was their vehicles, which we would be unlikely to see with Minimates. Still though, cool masks, colorful designs, count me in.
  15. This is true, but if you're going to make fundamental changes to the guy in the mask, then. . .why make it Spider-Man at all? The reason Spidey is popular is primarily because people are nostalgic for it. Every kid grew up with Spidey. If it's just the nerdy young kid going through changes that connects everyone to him, then they could create essentially the same character, give him slightly different powers, make him a woman or a different ethnicity, make him avenge the death of a teacher or friend instead of an uncle, and BAM--any studio can do it with any given new character. But no, the connection is based on the suit, the powers, and yes, Peter Parker. Maybe I am an old fart, but I don't want to see Bucky Cap, or lightning Superman, or '70s street fighting Wonder Woman, or Azrael Batman unless they are temporary diversions from the core, now iconic characters I grew up reading. I don't care much about Kick Ass, or Valiant, or Deadpool, or anything else I didn't have around me as a kid. If I put all my nostalgia behind me, I personally wouldn't bother with comic movies at all. There are loads of movies out there that are significantly better than the best comic movie, after all. And I think both comic companies and movie studios realize that this drives interest in these characters. Otherwise, we wouldn't still have Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent, Peter Parker, Steve Rogers, etc. etc. appearing in these comics/movies. But we do. . .
  16. Oh yeah, would love to see more of these. Though licensing may be tricky for some of these, I would love to see Galaxy High, Defenders of the Earth, Visionaries, Bionic Six, Kidd Video, Hulk Hogan Rock N Wrestling, and of course, Masters of the Universe and GI Joe.
  17. Yeah, but. . .he's the most important character in Marvel, and is that way for a reason. He has staying power, and readers can relate to him. I've never read a comic with Miles in it, so I can't speak to that really, but for myself, I want Peter Parker Spider-Man. If they want to add other Spider-type characters like "Spider-Gwen" or "Spider-Ham" or "Spider-Miles" or what have you, then I'm fine with it, but let's keep Parker as the constant, and primary Spidey please.
  18. Wasn't Spidey just a high school student in two of the films, though, out of the five?
  19. The super deformed DeLorean that came with Minimates, or the one that's in scale with GI Joes? The former is available for retail on the secondary market.
  20. Yeah, even regular-ish Marty is available for near retail if you don't mind slightly different paint decos: http://www.bttf.net/Back_to_the_Future_Minimates_DeLorean_Time_Machine_p/72791.htm I own just about all the BTTF figures released thus far (only one I know I'm missing is Jennifer, who I need to track down. . .), and I wouldn't mind getting a re-release of some of the heavy hitters Zach. Particularly the iconic Marty and Doc looks from the mall in part 1. That first Marty is the most important figure from the license, and I would hate to think that some may be put off to buying him because of inflated secondary market prices. And while you can get Radiation suit Doc Brown for a fair price, his head wasn't done very well IMO, and could use an improved re-release. The first Doc from the first box set's head was perfect!
  21. Awesome. Thanks! I don't know if you saw a few posts back, but we're getting a new set that hasn't been released yet: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=DMC12366&mode=retail
  22. Zach, can you confirm whether or not the Mattel hoverboard will be included in this set? The character doesn't use it, but assuming Marty, Jr. comes with an extra hand, its inclusion would allow collectors to treat this as a 2-in-1 of Marty or Marty, Jr. And the mold was already made for the first BTTF2 box set.
  23. Good luck to you, but this is the first I have ever heard of them (and it seems this was also the case for BHM) despite having followed and searched eBay for Minimates for years. I don't think we'll see these popping up again anytime soon.
