  1. Zach's not in business of minimates design, but if we got an iceman minimate that looked to be made of coconut I'd be all over it.
  2. I'd like to take the s opportunity to say I'm a fan of deadpool when it comes to serving up a whopping, but in every other aspect including his 4th wall breaking I find him annoying, obnoxious, and really other than the wave 28 one and a few other striking variants, I am constantly slapping my forehead with all the talk about how great this moronic character is. I'm glad this terrible character isn't taking up a slot or wave that could go to something worth a damn.
  3. What Joey said. I know somebody's got the playmates figs, the mates, and a camera
  4. Here's a 3rd. For sculpting, I've been trying to sculpt parts that are removable so that I keep an interchangeable aesthetic for my mates. Keeping this up is difficult, sometimes it would be easier to sculpt right onto a mate (I've only done this once). I'd like to know how others do this. Some customs are obviously sculpted together, but when I can I'd like to make removable parts. And a 4th, speaking of sculpting, I tried to add length to an existing coat using apoxie sculpt, so the apoxie was on the bottom of the coat and since it was so squishy it kept folding inwards, obviously this was very upsetting. Am I supposed to wait for it to get harder before trying to use it? The apoxie sculpt that is.
  5. 2 issues I came across yesterday that I could use some advice on. 1. Some of my painting is turning out really well, black detail lines with a .2 mm micron pen has been cool. But when trying to paint fine lines when I need a color other than black, I have problems. Im using miniature detail paint brushes, like for tabletop games, reaper minis, etc. I get the tiniest of paint on my tiny brush and try and drag a tiny thin line and it looks like a mess. It looks like the paint has dryed on the brush already before I got to finish my line. If you look at my new 90's GR you can see a little of this on the blue detail lines on his jacket. How is everyone else doing these fine lines? 2. Sheet styrene. Hobbyist have been telling me about this stuff for years and Ive finally bought some. A little heat and I should be able to shape it, fold it around minimates for robes and other 3d parts. Im supposed to be able to manipulate it in a way that I can turn a flat piece of plastic into a billowing capes. But its not working. Ive tried scalding hot water from the coffee machine at work, and its worked on other minimate parts I needed to manipulate, and I dont have a heat gun. Anyone else here use this stuff? What needs to happen here to make this stuff succumb to my will?
  6. I don't get to add pics here often, but here's some that I thought would be cool on the verse. Army box 1 Original Aim vs my Elite Aim How small we've come Villains Bat fun My current display SW shirt (I may have posted elsewhere) My MMMV shirt edited for spelling
  7. Ah, I see you have returned for more. Very well, a new handful of customs for your eye candy needs. Scarecrow (Laughton) with cut out mask How it works Deathwatch Unmasked (I did sculpt a ponytail) 90's Ghost Rider Ver1 I forgot the leg detailing, painting all his parts took half a day, give me a break. I also did some art for Zodiak, but I messed up the mouth and dont want to show it off till I draw a new one. I also drew art for an upcoming Bday custom that Ill drop in here soon.
  8. Glad you got one. I've been looking for extras this time but it's a lot harder for me to get around than last time.
  9. It is your birthday right? Have a good one!
  10. I totally stopped collecting all the marvel movie mates after IM, Hulk, and XMOW. Too many civilians when I wanted new characters, and too many characters left out due to short windows for release on them. Even passed on everything from the first avengers. Then stupid GOTG came out and gave a whole wave of characters that didnt have minimates (-drax) and I started grabbing movie mates again. As for displays I have the following usually (at the moment though they are in storage), I have a single white shelf with attached brackets, then 2 sets of 3 adjustable rack shelves from home depot. The shelves are all different widths, I have a bigger one at the bottom for a big diorama setup, then smaller as the go up. Usually 1 set of 3 goes to all minimates on each shelf, the other set of 3 usually goes to legos and the single is whatever I want at the time. All of them have a good degree of cycling around. The diorama shelf last had the classic avengers lineup (or the earth mightiest heroes cartoon lineup plus the maximoff twins) versus Aim and Hydra but I can easily switch out with Xmen, FF, spidey etc. middle shelf was often just very cool mates that I liked (Mostly marvel villains) in loose rows just so I get all kinds of display variety.
  11. All of them? Minimates and I have been together my entire adult life. I've considered narrowing down what I buy here and there before. My displays are the same way right now. Not a lot of space, tons of mates in storage, loose, carded, boxed. Every time I try and wind it down a new license shows up that I want, and after passing on a few things out of a "Meh I can get that later" attitude, I am paying for it now trying to gather some early things I missed. It would be easier to hunt down the fewer items I need for a more complete overall collection than it would be to pass on a few years worth of stuff then inevitably change my mind again and scramble to catch up.
  12. I will get some together, thanks for sharing your modeling skills with us.
  13. Got mine in the mail yesterday.Looks awesome. The Dave school one is some cool shade of orange Ive never seen on a minimate.
  14. Hordak gear, Snakemen gear, Vengeance chestpiece. Im sure Ill think of some more.
  15. Im trying to collect at least one of the display boxes, and enough bags for the set of figs at the least. I have all 3 blind boxes so far, ME, TMNT, and AOU and all of them are filled with a ridiculous amount of blind bags. And while I would like the bags smaller, I also really love consistency. So if the bags and display cases stay the same size and shape for now I would be fine with that. I haven't tried folding one flat yet which would work for storage. I suppose if I did I can flatten my bags together and store them in a ziplock bag. But explaining why im keeping trash and hoarding it will be my next problem...
  16. welcome! Dont leave your rare mates at work though!
  17. Bumblebee didn't get ripped from n half, jazz did. I cried in the original when prime died, every kid did. That's why duke went into a coma lol. Me and my mom both cried when prowl and ironhide got killed in the old movie.
  18. On the topic of copying legos working bag formula, has any discussion been had about a little paper insert for the bags? Even the blind Nintendo bags from knex 's include an insert. As a kid I LOVED looking at pics of toys I wanted. Also since I've not mentioned it before, I'm not a fan of how big the bags are at the moment. The Lego bags are pretty good for that size figure, but a little hard to feel if the fig has a lot of parts. For mass effect and the avengers bags (especially the avengers) since there were a Lot of simple figs that were light on the accessories I felt like there was too much empty space inside. I also wish the display boxes had a lid that you told back like other display boxes.
  19. I upload almost the same way every time. sometimes the verse just isn't ready for it.
