  1. Thanks robomate for clearing that up for me ^^; That sounds lame though, why would they do that? Like the saying goes "don't fix it if it ain't broke".
  2. Ok I see now. Thanks Punisher. Hm...so how does that hinder the articulation...?
  3. Besides that, those of us who might have a limited amount of parts can make a ninja easily with a "blank" minimate if needed. I'm thinking of possibly making a ninja, though not your traditional all black ninja...hm...
  4. Hope these hit my TRU (which barely has any at the moment) soon. I really like that Spider Man and I think he's a worthy variant. Total opposite about Wolverine however. Also, I hope I don't sound dumb but, what's the difference between the new waist pieces (besides the circle) and the old ones?
  5. Hm.. You got a point there Punisher, I just threw in mecha because they're seen in anime and stuff but I had forgotten about the Convoy of Robots. So yeah, I guess maybe the mecha (robot) part should be left out so as to not do something too similar to a previous charitymates project.
  6. I'm getting pretty excited about this! Lots of cool ideas so far. Hopefully I'll be able to participate this time around because I think I'm kinda starting to get the hang of whole customizing thing. ^^ This. Something Japanese/anime/mech/ninja related. I'm not even going to suggest my usual charity, as I believe we are all in agreement that it should be Japan this time. Also, considering how much attention Japan gets usually, we could get some good cross-promotional stuff going right now. Articles on Tomopop, AJV's blog, even HLJ. Those guys are great, and I am sure they can help us as much as we can help them. Sounds like a good idea to me. I'd also post it on figure.fm (which is a figure community site created by the Toyko Storm Trooper: Danny Choo dannychoo.com) and maybe some other anime sites (besides the ones you mentioned). Oh, and thanks for the shout out Dinobot.
  7. How about "Anime" inspired characters like Mecha,School Girls,Ninja, etc etc...(to avoid any copy right issues) and donate the proceeds to The Red Cross (or other charitable organization) to help Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake? Just thought I'd throw that out there. ^^
  8. Wow...I'm just blown away by how creative and awesome all these entries are! You all rock!
  9. Your latest customs (BatDuckMan and Compound Hulk) are quite interesting looking. Keep it up, man!
  10. Nice Pics! Looks like this Age of V is gonna be pretty epic. Can't wait to see what else is in store. Also The Thor and Iron Man Pics are my favorites so far.
  11. Thanks TENIME_art! I hope she comes out good when I make her. ^^; Because I'm still wondering how I'm going to make her face (I want it to kinda look like Lilith's) and how I should go about making the skirt shorter before I repaint it. Other than that I'm thinking I'll try to make her a torso sticker and her puffy shoulder thingies for now.
  12. Cool Comic! I thought it was funny and very true. I also liked the little set you made for them. Hope to see more from ya soon.
  13. Hi there, Here are my first official custom painted Minimate creations! First up is one that took me about 5 or 6 years to finally get to finish. Dr. Doom 2099! (Good thing it didn't take me "that" long) I thought I'd make a villain for my lone Spiderman 2099 to fight. In the future I'll probably revisit this one to do some touch up work and stuff since it was my first minimate I'd ever painted. He's pretty much a straight up repaint of the regular Dr. Doom Minimate with Silver Surfer's chest block. Next up is my latest custom paint that I recently started and finished. It's Batman's cold hearted (literally) villain: Mr. Freeze Who freezes anyone who get's in his way! His look is reminiscent of his movie appearance from back when I was a kid in the 90's. When he was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger... Not why since I haven't seen the movie since it came out long ago when and my friend were kids. Maybe it's nostalgia? But regardless, I wanted Mr. Freeze to use the whole clear minimate body yet I wanted him to look like he was icy or something like that with an armored suit. So that's when I decided to go with a "movie inspired" look. Kinda reminds me of a Mr. Freeze action figure I had. Anyway, Hope you all like my Minimate custom creations! Also here are some of my WIPS Also check out my blog for an exclusive preview to two other custom WIPs (Work In Progress) that are coming soon.
  14. Wow.. I was pretty excited when I heard (and saw) that they're going to make MvC3 minimates but now I'm slightly worried after reading their latest facebook post saying "IF they had the license". I'm really looking forward to what was shown at TF (like Ryu,C Viper,Zero Dante, Deadpool, etc...) and on the Control Art (like Felicia,X-23, Chun Li,etc..), hopefully these will actually come out. Also...More Street Fighter characters! please...^^;
  15. Pics or it didn't happen! Though from what hear, it sounds like these will look pretty close to their movie counterparts which I think is a good thing. Also I think using a clear dark green body with the rest of the details painted on sounds like it'll look sweet. I wonder if the green will be the same as those ones they gave away at that con (with dark blue ones too) a few years back. Hopefully this will open the door for DST get the DC license back so we can start to see more DC character created again. Otherwise I can't wait to get my hands on the new Hal minimate because I really like how he looks in the movie and I think it'll look really cool in minimate form.
  16. The post above sounds like a lot bullshit to me. Just kidding. Sorry I just couldn't resist. Back on topic: I'm really liking the latest entries and it's gonna be hard for me just to pick 3 if you know what I mean.
  17. Thanks. I was originally going to use the claw from the Chemical Warehouse but I only had one and it didn't look right (or fit) so that's how I went on to use the doc ock arms instead.
  18. A new Q&A has been posted over at http://www.artasylum.com/blog/2010/05/askdst-87/ Looks like no blank minimates for retail...ever.
  19. Thanks Guys, Glad you like it.
  20. Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) as made many different armors over the years, but where does he put them all? In his Hall of Armors of course! Ever since the I got my Iron Man Minimates from the first movie, I began transforming what was once a C3 (kinda like Lego) Bat Cave into Iron Man's Hall of Armors. So yeah, it was two years in the making and I pretty much finished now. But like the Iron Man armors, I'll probably keep upgrading it from time to time. Especially when I get more Iron Man Minimates. Check the Pictures Below or at my blog Hope you all like it.
  21. Hey there! Here's my entry: Magnetite Mine is an a combination of the characters Magneto and Iron Man. Bio: Michael Stark and Charles Xavier met and became close friends while they were captured in a Nazi concentration camp. Both of their families were killed and their time to be executed was fast approaching. During this time their mutant power's began to manifest. Michael discovered he had the power of Magnetism manipulation while Charles discovered he could read minds. Both knew if they wanted to live, they would have to escape. So they came up with a plan, Michael would use the walls and everything else around him (including weapons once the got out of their holding cell) to make himself an armored suit and his friend a wheel chair and Charles would read the minds of the guards to know what they were thinking and what they would to. They successfully escaped, but most others who tried to escape during the chaos did not. A few years later, Michael would see first hand the public's strong racism against mutants and he decided he would put a stop to it by force. His decision would cause great tension between him and Charles, because he on the other hand believed there was a non violent way to deal with the mutant racism. Michael would design and build a new (high tech) armored suit (and Helmet to block Charles from reading or controlling his mind) and become Magnetite while Charles would be known as X and assemble a team of mutants from across the globe to defeat and destroy Magnetite. Thus their battle began. Powers: Genius-level intellect, Magnetism manipulation, Flight, Repulsor Blast, The story's a bit of a work in progress. The Minimates recipe is: Helmet- Magneto Head- Dr. Doom Torso- Iron Man Arms- Colossus Hands- Dare Devil and Iron Man Waist- Colossus Legs- Colossus Feet- Colossus More Pictures Below: I'll be updating my Custom Thread soon with the new X-men team and more. Now if I can find that thread....
  22. Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it!
