  1. Apparently lots of collectors here missed out on the first Scarlet Witch, huh? Don't get me wrong. I'd be all over a reissue of Civil War Spidey in his Stark duds but that was an exclusive. Wasn't Wanda more plentiful?
  2. I guess I voted for Iron Man because I clicked on his image thinking it would bring up a larger picture and I got a message saying, "Thanks for your vote, dumbass! Bwa-Ha-ha-haaaa!"
  3. It's my understanding that this isn't even a DC issue anymore. Since the restructuring almost two years ago, licensing for DC has been handled by Warner Bros. Consumer Products. And just out of curiosity, was the "one guy" Georg Brewer? I find it hard to believe that the company suddenly pulling a "me too" move by announcing a Justice League film after Marvel's success with The Avengers is concerned about being perceived as copycats. As long ago as Mego and as recently as Lego, plenty of manufacturers have both DC and Marvel properties. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at DST's success with Marvel Minimates (NOT Mezco's Mez-Itz) and imagine how it could be emulated with DC brands. To me, Mez-Itz showed a willingness on WBCP's part to give the category a try. From my perspective it doesn't look like it's doing gangbusters. I have reason to believe the agreement is nearing its end and Mezco will probably not renew unless their merchandise for The Dark Knight Rises blows up. The 1966 Batman property could be DST's avenue to more things DC, not just 'mates. I fully expect to see a Wayne Manor 4-pack of Bruce, Dick, Alfred, and Aunt Harriet offered as the 2013 SDCC exclusive.
  4. If DST can get the license for "Fifty Shades of Grey," I might be able to get my wife into Minimates.
  5. I'm keeping mine as is. (Of course I already have a "first appearance" Punisher I'm happy with.)
  6. Specifically 18,792 last month. Thunderbolts #174 came in at 131 on the sales chart. No idea how sales are elsewhere including digital sales but I'd have to say their Q-score is pretty low compared to others. Have they gotten any love in cartoon form yet?
  7. I've never heard of Songbird before this poll. I guess that qualifies me as a casual fan, huh?
  8. Maybe when Hasbro gets around to the inevitable ROM feature film... And I don't know how long ago the inquiry was made but with the recent layoffs at Hasbro, it might be worth another try. Sometimes a change of characters in a company like that can make all the difference.
  9. Now that the last poll is up, I think it's safe for me to say that I'd gladly buy any combination of these 'mates offered. These were all good choices, in my opinion, for a variety of reasons. I've certainly got my preferences but, damn, this is a fun-filled group of ballots.
  10. My answer to the suit in the first film was that the wrestling promoter made it after seeing how much money this "spiderman" kid could bring in. He needed new duds for promotional purposes and that's where the balance of the money owed to Peter went. The new suit is growing on me but I agree with others; I want it explained. It may not be the most unrealistic part of the film but since they go out of their way to explain his powers (again), they can drop a line or two about the suit's origins.
  11. I guess my wave is: Banshee/Mojo Falcon/Wrecker Iron Man 2020/Mandroid Hydro Armor Iron Man/Mandroid
  12. Why are people insisting that ROM isn't going to happen? Hasbro is notoriously Marvel-friendly. I'm sure an agreement could be reached that would benefit all parties.
  13. I've thought for a while that these two-packs were a tad over-packaged. If memory serves there's a plastic window glued to the box. That's an unnecessary cost if the tray inside also has a clear lid. That lid already serves as a protective window. But thanks, thelink. I'll have to doublecheck my Spidey.
  14. I want Mandroids but not if they've got number designations as seen in the illustration. I don't want to build an army (or even own TWO) of Mandroid L3 or L7 or whatever. I like the armor design but not the graphics. I'd rather see plain, vanilla Mandroids. All I know about Nova is how much I like the Minimate so having a bunch of centurions – or any other rank – is appealing. After doing some research, I'd like to see these guys as well. Does a vote for Centurions mean a vote for the Green Lan-- I mean Nova Corps? So far it's a toss up between them and the Mindless Ones. (They're just so cuddly!)
  15. I see no reason why Minimates hasn't been a possibility since DC Direct stopped producing them. I know that DST doesn't go after licenses exclusively for Minimates though I do believe there are exceptions to that rule (DC and Star Wars, for example). Either way, if DST could get this property for multiple categories – banks, props, statues, neon signs, retro cloth figures, AND Minimates – it would certainly be bigger than The Munsters or Ghostbusters. I mean, "Holy nostalgia, Batman." As for competition, I don't know how much success Mezco is enjoying with the DC license. They certainly aren't cranking out DC Mez-Itz as fast as Marvel Minimates. But if I'm right and this property is separately licensed, there's nothing stopping DST from having that conversation with WBCP. Acquiring this property and making it successful could very well open the door to more DC product, including 'mates.
  16. Which sounds like a Blade Runner remake.
  17. Given Disney's track record recently (having cancelled the fan-favored "Avengers" cartoon and mixing Star Wars characters with their own), I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that it's going to be a 4-pack of Marvel's most popular characters sporting mouse ears. That should drive business.
  18. Did anyone else feel like it was a remake of Alien? Personally it didn't meet my expectations, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I wish I could have seen it without all the hype, not knowing it had any connection to Alien beyond the director. I thought it was a solid sci-fi movie with plenty of graphic suspense elements to keep the drama flowing. The VFX were excellent and the 3D rocked. (I only see movies in 3D if they were SHOT in 3D like this was.) Apparently NECA is offering 6" scale figures (to be shown at SDCC) but you know me; I'd prefer a couple boxed sets of Minimates, but only if they break out the 2.5" body for the "space jockey."
  19. Didn't you see Catwoman? Honestly I'm fine with it, if only because I like Spidey and never cared for Venom. That said, if they can make Venom as appealing to me as Nolan did The Joker (hated that overrated, overexposed clown, too) then they're doing something right. Maybe they'll use the Ultimate origin. Seems to be the direction they're taking the franchise anyway.
  20. You know, if I can convince Mrs. PL that it's a Dyson ironing board, I may be able to avoid divorce papers.
  21. There's only one sexy librarian for me.
  22. And here is what might be the perfect display for your Avengers Minimates. At first I thought it was an easy pass but it's a full foot longer than the retail version, making it even closer to Minimate scale. I know the 3 3/4" Quinjet is a pretty good fit for the 'mates but if only DST could offer their own version to complement this beast. Also I'm shocked that Hasbro manufactured two versions of the helicarrier. Maybe they tooled it now in anticipation of it appearing in the sequel. Either way I'd love to mount this to a wall as a Minimate display shelf. I wonder what it looks like on the inside. No idea if it will be made available after SDCC online through Hasbro but I suspect they'll blow through inventory at the con. [heavy sigh]
  23. If it's a write-in, I'd go for Amalgam if only to get DC's attention.
  24. Last week, WB announced that after years of negotiating with Fox, they finally have the licnesing rights to the 1966 Batman TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward. This week, at the Licensing Show in Las Vegas, WBCP will open the floodgates and preview new products based on the show. I'm hopeful that someone from DST will be making that trip and take time to visit the WBCP booth to inquire about the rights. I get the impression that this property will be licensed separately from the umbrella Batman brand as is often the case with other DC properties. This would be a great opportunity not only for Minimates but plenty of other products DST offers. I just want DST to get their foot in that door before Mezco does. I don't want Mez-Itz, damn it, I want Minimates. Here's a blurb from License! Global.
