  1. Well, it's been a while since DST actually offered Minimates based on anything "new" even when they announce a new license and that includes Minimates in the agreement. (Pacific Rim, I'm looking at you.) The last couple times they did offer new Minimates they both got canceled thanks to low pre-orders. (Bruce Lee and John Wick, take a bow.) So unless it's a new niche market for Marvel Minimates, there's not much enthusiasm for speculating like there once was. ?
  2. They still have the license. How hard is it to do a concept of a specialty market-friendly 4-pack featuring Picard, Worf, Data, and Dr. Crusher with enough extra parts to make LaForge, Riker, Yar, and Troi? If they want me to do it, I'll do it but they better get it in front of retailers.
  3. I'd love nothing more than to see DST pick up where they left off but they'd need a retailer willing to help them out with that. That said, I feel bad for Dark Horse. First Star Wars and now this.
  4. I love this. It's the first time I've ever seen a LEGO minifig mistaken for a Minimate. It's usually the other way around. The brand has arrived! ?
  5. As a satisfied owner of that bat-signal, I second that suggestion. Great diorama!
  6. There's no avoiding the complaining. I'd argue an "inspired by" assortment would just give us even more of what we already have and eat into the specialty market. (Again.) Let's be honest; most of us could throw together an "inspired by" wave today. If the designs are based on the game, it could be as exclusive to that big box retailer as Marvel Animated is to Walgreens. No one is stepping on anyone else's toes, new collectors are brought in thanks to a presence in the mass market, and veterans like us can still pick and choose what we want. Not knowing how many characters are in the game, this could go on for a few waves if the first one sells through.
  7. Did anyone else see this and immediately think of our favorite plastic addiction? Might be a nice gateway drug for another retailer.
  8. That's a terrific custom! What a delicious recipe.
  9. With the absence of DC Direct product coming through Diamond, maybe they'll renew their focus on what DST has to offer, including Minimates.
  10. I enjoyed the entire run. I feel it came to its logical conclusion but it wouldn't surprise me if Martin used it as a first draft (like Kirkman has done with The Walking Dead) and changed some things in the book. Hopefully Daredevil will come back next year. I wouldn't mind a Disney+ series that follows up the Netflix show but it might be more appropriate for Hulu.
  11. I know plenty of folks in law enforcement. My father was a part-time cop. My stepfather was state police. Three of my friends are cops. Another is a corrections officer. They all say the same thing; when will people take responsibility for cleaning up their own neighborhoods? To which I've responded, when will law enforcement lead by example? They insist "no one hates a dirty cop more than a cop" but I'm pretty sure that the first person to discover a dirty cop is another cop. I know a guy who was in a bad relationship. He went to his girlfriend's place and broke up with her. She got violent and started hitting him. After a couple hits, he grabbed her by the wrists to stop her and she head-butted him, breaking his nose. He pushed her away, walked out of the house, bleeding, and called the police. They showed up, took his statement, spoke to her, saw her red wrists and arrested him. He spent the night in jail, covered in his own blood, with a fractured nose. Charges were dropped when she refused to testify but it cost him his job and the attorney's fees to get the arrest records expunged. My wife and I were on our porch when we heard a distraught woman. Walking silently in the middle of the street was a strong, young black man wearing a backpack. A petite, young white woman was alternately crying, screaming, and cursing at him, clearly trying to provoke a response. He just kept walking, doing his best to ignore her while she circled him. She vomited on him, grabbed him by the straps of his backpack and shook him as hard as she could. My wife asked, "Should we call 911?" I said, "Reverse the situation. If it was a big black dude doing that to a little white chick, what would you do?" We called the police, told them exactly what we had seen. When the police car came into view, the woman suddenly turned off the drama and calmly walked away. The police asked the young man if he was okay and if he wanted to press charges. He just wanted nothing more to do with her. We know this because his mother thanked us for standing up for him. Turned out she was a neighbor from down the street who we knew but had never met her son. Sometimes things go the right way. Sometimes they don't.
  12. Alternate looks help. That and you should never underestimate the phenomenal drawing power of a Peter Dinklage likeness.

I've always wanted a chrome Silver Surfer. Now I want a black chrome Surfer.
  14. I agree. Hopefully Chuck's boss does, too.

My PA shop said they ordered them back in March but they didn't show up and aren't on next week's invoice either. This is a shop that's managed to stay in business during quarantine so it's a little frustrating that, now that restrictions are being eased, they still can't get what they ordered from Diamond.
  16. Owned by Steve Geppi. You sure? I’m not saying it would be wise but it’s not hard to imagine someone saying, “You won’t let us distribute your comics? DST won’t be renewing license agreements for anything under the WBCP umbrella.”
  17. Will DC’s decision impact licensed product? https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/dc-cuts-ties-diamond-comic-distribution-1297309

Okay, what did I miss? Did Britney shave her head again? Does Michael Jackson have a new album? Is that why everyone's wearing a mask? I'm a little behind...

I'm wondering if any of these figures have significant alternate looks.
  20. MAX needs to be part of a robust Minimates product line. The licensed product can get the retailer's attention. MAX can complement it with vehicles and maybe even playsets. Acquiring a license or two that would allow for both figures AND vehicles would be ideal. Personally, I've wanted to see a sci-fi Max line for years. Concepts from ten years ago could be repurposed.
  21. Target works for me. Does anyone want to second the motion?
  22. Gotta get a retailer interested. Let's pick one and spam their inbox.
  23. Darkseid was part of the C3 line, which was a DC license under the purview of Chuck at DST, who notoriously objects to using multiple body sizes. Ares, Bane, Brainiac 13, et al were manufactured by DST as a third party for DC Direct. Technically there was no license agreement between the companies so DC Direct got what they asked for. I'm pretty certain that if the DCD line had continued to include Darkseid, we'd have gotten him on a 2.5" body.
  24. There's a thread for things compatible with Minimates. Check out Hasbro's Milano here. Not sure about LEGO.
