  1. General I scower eBay for as many of these as possible. At the time of writting I have around three to five of each, though I know I have some more on the way. Only down side is the amount I end up spending to win the auctions... :S
  2. (don't know where to find the jaw dropping smiley). These look awesome Luke Definitly going to have to buy the three new sets for all my ghost and monster fighting minimates. Only down side is my wallet is crying in the corner
  3. Second! I've only played about 1/3 of the game but I really like the Rookie (even though he never speaks etc.). Be a great addition in my eyes. Other than that, I'm not sure at the moment. I like the T-1000 but I thnk they've covered all the major forms (though I wouldn't say no to more arm blades ).
  4. Wow... just... Wow! He's awesome! I love the shirt under the jacket, the mask is great and the ninja sword/katana was really well done. How'd you do the sword? All round awesome job
  5. Can't say I like the face on the new Pepper. It looks really big when compared to the old one and I feel it brings it down in quality. Do like the look of the new armours though, and the Army Builders are awesome (got my first batch last week ).
  6. I enjoyed Blackest Night but do feel it had a bit too much padding. I'm hoping to write an article on it some time soon but sufficed to say it wasn't quite on par with Sinestro Corps. I also hated how key elements were spoilt (Necron, Red Lantern Guy) and just when you think they learned their lesson (hiding the covers of issues 7 and 8 for example), they STILL managed to spoil, among other things, the fricking White Lantern! As predictable as it may have been, I'd have much rather seen the emblem for the first time when Sinestro bonded with the Life Entity than plastered on promotional material about two months before hand. Yes I know promo material is designed to generate hype and interest but it shouldn't come at the cost of plot elements.
  7. Wow... Just.... Wow! The paint job looks amazing and the design is brilliant! I'd love to know how you come up with such an idea . Nice job all round.
  8. I've been toying with getting into custom mates for a while. The idea seems really appealing to me, allowing me to build my collection with characters, both established and personally created (I have about a dozen or so I'd love to create). However I am a notorious procastinator. I've been meaning to build a website to catalogue my collection and learn ASP.NET, only I've not made it past chapter 1 of the .Net books in my posession. Still, perhaps by making a thread and showing off my first frankenmate might encourage me to actually get the job done. Armoured AIM Soldier Yes, I'll admit this custom was inspired by the one Boyd made. I saw his, and was so impressed I toyed with the idea of taking the Vault Guard armour and putting it on my (only) spare AIM Soldier. Though the colour scheme is off, I'm really pleased with the results. I'll also admit I haven't quite mastered the art of taking minimate photos. Hopefully I'll have that fixed next time. I've toyed strongly with painting the armour black so it suits better and gives it a more completed look. However, being an indecisive man, this is also my only spare AIM Soldier (though I managed to get my hands on some more since making this custom) and once the armour is painting, I can never give it back to the Vault Guard. Still I feel further down the road I will be more likely to commit to finishing it. I'm also keen to get my hands on some more armoured parts to create a few more variants.
  9. I came into the cosmic side of Marvel with a minor level of interest, picking up the Annihilation trades. I walked away with a new found love for it that's grown stronger and stronger with each new series and storyline. Guardians of the Galaxy is a great series, combining excellent characters with some great humour. In my opinion the only Marvel work to trump the cosmic stuff is the mystical elements. JMS' run on Thor was excellent and I can't wait to see where it goes next. Ares was a great charatcer in Mighty and Dark Avengers and Incredible Hercules was just win, pure and simple. I was sad it was cancelled but hopeful about the Cho spin off/new direction.
  10. I'm a huge fan of European power metal singer Tobias Sammet. His main band, Edguy is one of my favourites and I'm JUST listening to the two new Avantasia CDs. A close second is the ever awesome Jonathan Coulton. Skullcrusher Mountain and Re: Your Brains are brilliant songs and Code Monkey describes my job pretty much to the T. If I grow a beard and/or my hair long, my friends say I look a lot like him. An old friend also introduced me to Bon Jovi, who's quickly become another favourite artist. I also like some work by Kamelot, Masterplan, Iron Maiden and Therion. I love music almost as much as I love comics, and have been known to grown rocker hair.
  11. I was away so I missed it as well. Does anyone have any print screens?
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the only Mark 6 Minimate in existance (at this moment in time)? Seems a little strange a key armour's first and only apperance is battle damaged. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if it appears in a second TRU wave.
  13. I wasn't all that interested in the TRU exclusives until seeing those photo. I think I'll definitly pick them up. Might also get two versions of Black Widow so I can donate her wrist bands to my Scarlet Spider mate.
  14. With the Ghostbusters, yes. I'm a huge GB fan so I'm trying to get my hands on all of them, regardless of how many dupes I end up with. As for the others, I only really buy what I like. I'm trying to curbe my spending so I need to justify having all the mates in a pack/boxset. It's proven to be a pain if a two pack is released with a character I really want (like most army builders) but I'm not interested in the other charatcer it comes with.
  15. I think I tried placing an order from there once and for whatever reason it wouldn't go trhough. Or maybe it was the shipping being too high... I can't remember. Anyway, add me to the list of people who use Luke's store. I pretty much second everything Danny said, it's a great place for Brits to shop.
  16. Dissapointing set I'd been toying with getting one but now I won't. However I do like the updated web-bracket. It would look great on an updated Ben Reilly and Scarlet Spider mate
  17. If the single packs are selling like hot cakes, I might need to put in another pre-order to help flesh out the army . It's great to hear so far they're working. Hopefully Diamond will re-release the other Army Builders in this fashion. Heck, I'd happily have "Battle Damaged AIM Agent" or BD Hydra etc. if it gives us some more to work with (which I appreciate is hypocritical when before I've expressed a dislike for BD).
  18. Wow... I knew the Sentinels would have been good, but they'er FAR better than I was expecting. *sigh* Once again I'll have to scower eBay.co.uk and .com for loose versions as I can't say I care for either of the Rachel Summers mates .
  19. The base was a great idea, and I have some spare stretched arms so I'll be posing him stretched out. I also like the new face compared to the old one. Hulk is a bit of a let down but I do like the sword. I also like the look of the new Captain America mate, but I'm a bit unsure about the Wolverine one. Might keep an eye out for a loose version of Cap.
  20. I agree with both points. I feel they could MAYBE add on the emblems as a decal and release them as two packs. As mentioned I'm not really interested in the play set, so I'm more likely to buy it loose off eBay. Heck, why not make it a three pack and put one character for each of the elements in it.
  21. I hope double posting isn't considered bad here. I've finally begun work on my site... Sort of... For the moment I've made them ASP pages, and the design is still very much work in progress (I'm more od a developer than a designy guy), but here are my first two blogs complete with the comments. Once again a big thank you to everyone who's helped me so far. If you can offer me any feedback and critasism on my blogs, I'd appreciate it: Blog #1 - Army Builders - Best thing to hit Minimates in 2009? Blog #2 - Exclusive Minimates - A great way to expand your collection, or fuel for Scalpers?
  22. I have to admit, I wasn't too fussed about the Battle Beasts. I never had them as a kid so they don't have the same nostalgia value as the Turtles (for example) and I'm unsure about the playset they're coming with. However the figure did look cool in the review, so I think opportunity pending I might pick up some of them. I wonder if we'll get any new weapons that can get added into the main line.
  23. Great job on the Street Fighter customs. I'm a HUGE fan (3rd Strike is my favourite fighting game EVER) so it warms my warrior's heart to see them You planning on making any of the more obscure (i.e. people who aren't in SFII) charatcers? Maybe a Dudley to face off against your Bison/Balrog
  24. Nicel ooking list. The only thing I'd perhaps say is expand the "loose minimate" section. Using past experiences as an example, I bought a lose Battle Damaged cap without the bracket that attaches the sheild to his arm (good thing I had the Invaders boxset), a Dr Fate without his hair piece and a Hawkeye missing the bracket that attaches the arrow to the bow. You might want to put in a note like "Contact the seller to confirm what it comes with" or something similar. Other than that, nice work.
