  1. I was in Dallas today and picked up the whole lot! The Warpath/Angel was by the Marvel minimates, and the rest were all on the collectible aisle. I did my happy dance right then and there. I really hope I get about a 2-3 month break between the next TRU exclusives. The hunt is wearing me down. (BTW, this was at the TRU in Allen of 75)
  2. I got an e-mail too, saying I was one of the 100 selected who sent in a pic of their book reciept. Good news, everyone.
  3. Oh Sweet! We're getting so close to completing the Spider-man Ditko villians now. We still need Lizard and...the Enforcers? Come to think of it, the Enforcers would be pretty easy customs. I'll get to work on those now.
  4. So, does anyone know where the stickers are supposed to go on the miniflyers? The ones for the console I can figure out, but even looking at some reference pictures online, I can't figure out the rest. BTW, I really, really dig these. They are probably a little overpriced at 15 dollars (they should be around 10, max), and the twist ties are horrible, but the packaging presentation and product are A+.
  5. Great pics! I'm so looking forward to picking up a Molecule man. This is really a good news/bad news situation: the good news is, we've got new minimates at TRU! The bad news is, the new minimates are at TRU.
  6. Wow, they did go for the Menance and Anti-Venom route. Really lame characters, but characters aside, the Menace minimate looks really good on its own. If this were just some random ghoul in the GB line I would be more excited. Thor and Loki are pretty cool. I love Thor's new costume, and glad to finally get it. I'm kind of disappointed that Loki is already out of Sif's body, so that part of the storyline is already up. Oh well. Phoenix and the Sentinal are really amazing! This is the draw of the set for me. I can't wait to see what kind of accessories the Sentinal comes with. The Hound Rachel is the best mate of the whole wave, and looks so much cooler than the Marvel Girl Rachel. Too bad that Hound Rachel is the variant.
  7. sleepers maybe? I think many of us (no, just you two) are forgetting that the Mechanical Monster would HAVE to be an army-builder, since he'd be paired with (for all intensive pirposes, and quite obviously) Rachel/Hound (again, i think we agree that it's her). The clue states that it's a fiery female, a mechanical monster, and a "cut" version of the female (parahrase...), meaning Andy, Prime Sentinels (all were different), and Sleepers (only 4) can't be it. I'm just playing devil's advocate, really. I think the predictions are pretty spot on: Aurora/Northstar, Tigra/Black Knight, Phoenix/Sentinal; but it's still fun to speculate. I don't think there is any written rule saying DST has to make one army builder per wave from here on out. This could be a wave without one, and it could just be Nimrod, since he was tied pretty closly to Rachael (they came from the same "Days of Future Past" future, if I remember correct).
  8. There are humanoid Sentinals right? They were just in the X-men/Dark Avengers story arc. After a little research, I found they're called Bio-Sentinals. They looked OK, but may be too new to get minimates. Then again, we have the entire Dark Avengers roster already. There were also Prime Sentinals, but I don't think DST would bring back something from Operation: Zero Tolerance. I shouldn't have dug them up either. What else does Marvel have as far as mechanical beings? The Awesome Android? Wouldn't work without the Mad Thinker.
  9. We really have gotten spoiled. We know what's coming a good 6 months from now, and we're wanting more. I actually would like to hear something more about Battle Beasts, though. We've got one figure included in a playset as a bit of a sneak peek, but nothing else since. EDIT: just to clarify, I wasn't being negative. I'm ready for some more news also (wanted: new box set).
  10. I got a reply back from TRU today on the status of my GB series 2 pre-orders, and was told that "your pre-order has an estimated release date of 10/9/09". I guess the TRU rep thought I was making stuff up when I mentioned these were already shipping out. These are all listed as "out-of-stock" on the website so either A) they are getting another big shipment in the next month to fill out more orders or they are going to wait until October before cancelling my pre-order.
  11. Has everyone had their pre-orders filled or cancelled by TRU.com? The status of mine still says "backordered". I've tried contacting their superior customer service, but haven't gotten a reply via e-mail.
  12. He also mentions the book publisher may be giving these away? That would make sense that this wouldn't be quite a limited as just the 20 or so minimates. That is a seriously cool promo mate. I do want one.
  13. I kind of like seeing all of the questions from kids. It goes to show that the minimates in TRU thing is catching on, and I like the enthusiasm of some of the kids' questions. Sure they're the same old ones we've seen before, but from a different demographic. Also: Damn yoouuu Hasbro! Let DST make some GI Joe mates. Those GI Joe superhero squad figures are on clearance all over the place here. DST knows how to load figures down with weaponse and goodies. Do it Hasbro, if you are reading this, or I come up to Rhode Island and start giving out swirlies.
  14. I think this makes a lot of sense, and I doubt there will be any negative consequences of the buyout. Disney will let the creative side of Marvel do what they have been doing. But, the difference is that Marvel can now take a few more chances. Some of those well written books that never found an audience? They'll be able to keep going with the Mickey Mouse money Marvel will have. This is something DC has been able to do for a few years now, due to being owned by WB. Plus, Disney gets to market the character brand. Marvel makes pennies on the dollar compared to the money that merchandising alone brings in for their heroes. Disney will probably open new areas for Marvel they were too small to get into before. Hasbro already makes Toy Story figures, so I don't think Disney has any qualms about keeping toys in house. Also, a Pixar Power Pack movie would be sweet.
  15. But the white eyes changing on the mask are realistic? Deadpool is one of the best minimates we've ever gotten in the Marvel, IMO. The lack of symmetry gives his mask more of a comic effect to me. If it really bothers you, you could still, you know, use the normal mask.
  16. I think it's Brother Voodoo's time to shine! He's the current Sorcerer Supreme, you know. Also a Morbius, the living vampire mate....in a Midnight Sons box set.
  17. Woot! I went to the LCS today and there was a line to get this wave! Okay, there was one other person there, and he was a fellow Multiverser, so it was all cool. I had to make sure I gots my Deadpool! Man, I just got home from work too, it was a 13 hour day. These minimates have been the lone brightspot so far.
  18. Geez. After all that, I think I need to pick up the phone and call my mom. You know, thank her for those Secret Wars figures she got me back in 85. BTW, the pics are great. I was only interested in Thor and the Sheild soldier...now I'm thinking about the whole thing.
  19. I was there on Friday only and talked to Matt, who rang up my purchase of the Amazon "exclusive" ghosts set. I wasn't feeling well, so I probably came across as some type of plastic junkie (which, really, isn't too far from the truth), and I forgot to express my desire for the Brother Voodoo mate that should be packaged with Kang in wave 33.
  20. I've been reading that too. I can understand missing the rubsigns, but complaining about the figure itself seems a little premature. There doesn't seem to be that much blockiness around the new beast that the old one didn't have. Also, the original Battle Beasts had 2 points of articulation. Two. They were essentially green army men with moving arms and weapons (although I did love 'em). The new line will most likely have swappable armor, parts and weapons with minimate articulation. Sounds awesome. Oh, and I am totally calling War Weasel. He's a weasal with a frikkin' laser hand! And he's war-ish.
  21. I was always uncomfortable rubbing that elephants faction sticker. My favorites were always "Rocky Rhino" and "Sly Fox". Although, as a kid, I never called them by their proper Battle Beasts name. I mean "Run Amok Duck"? (okay that one may be pretty awesome after all). The more I think about it though, it may not be likely that the fire/water/wood factions enter into DST's Battle Beasts. This part of it was something that Hasbro created, and probably remains their intelletual property. I could be wrong though, I'm no lawyer.
  22. That's a custom in the link. The original croc Battle Beast was white with gold armor. The DST one isn't based on previous Battle Beast. I wonder if DST will revist the old designs, or just go with new ones. Will we get the chariots? So many questions...
  23. Battlebeasts! Are you kidding me!!!?? I loved those things. I probably had about 100 a few years ago and ended up selling them, playsets and all on eBay. Holy crap, this is awesome. This ties minimates to TFs! I wonder if they'll have the fire/water/wood stickers? Good news on the normally 2 per case TRU exclusives. I thought the Wonder-Man/Union Jack pack was about right: it could be found with some diligence, but didn't sit too much. Bullseye/Moonstone has been ridiculous. And Molecule Man and Spider-woman are coming in the next TRU wave? The ones the signs advertise for August? That's pretty quick. Still, Battle Beasts!
  24. I have to say, that is pretty underwhelming. I like the idea, and the generic minimates should be awesome, but the detail is really lacking on the playset. The design is a bunch of rectangles and hexagons. There is very little recognizable. How about pictures of tables covered with chemicals? How about some type of mixing drums? More control panels? The exterior shot isn't too bad, there is certainly more detail there. It really depends what the price of this is to see if it will be successful.
  25. Okay, wow. Rocking awesome lineups! I am seriously running out of Marvel minimate wishlist candidates, except for some of the off the wall stuff: Brother Voodoo, Man-Thing, Modok.... I like the Madrox choice, but I hope he comes with a hood or alternate head to create his "classic" look. The face doesn't look right on him either - when did he have a moustache? Also, still not liking the slip on masks. Captain Britain and Goliath will need some work from me. I wonder why we get them with these two, but Black Bolt, Angel, Yellow Jacket, and the Kree look to have the regular slotted ones? BTW, the Kree soldier I am super excited for. I will have a Kree/Skrull war in my living room, and when I am done, they all fit into a shoebox!
