  1. I've had multiple consoles over the years. Put my original PS1 in the freezer. Wrapped it in a towel, etc. All the tricks to keep it working there at the end. I understand product failure but usually AFTER the product has been used. I've had zero problems with my PS2. Never a problem with my Wii or any of the 7 DS's we have in the house. (Keep in mind, I've got 5 kids so these machines get LOTS of use.) I would've thought with the 360 being, how many years old?, they would've resolved the RROD issues by now.
  2. Threads like this make me worry about getting a 360. I'm thinking of getting a 360 Pro (that's the 60gb version?) soon but I keep seeing complaints of the RROD. I thought the newer consoles were supposed to resolve those issues?
  3. Kiss my shiny metal @ss. I do make exceptions to the rules occasionally depending on the length of time the person has been on the forum and how active they are. If they're one of those people who just joined and is looking to offload their 'mates at a hefty profit, I'm probably not going to let them in this year. If the member is someone who participates and seems like a decent chap, I can be persuaded to bend the rules. If you want in, pm me and we'll talk.
  4. Exactly right on both points. In the event we have someone sign up who then decides they can't meet their obligation for whatever reason, usually I'm able to cover it. If we have 3 or 4 individuals who do this, it would be more difficult for me to do this. In both 06 and 07 when we did this, I was able to take care of everything when members flaked out. (Those members are no longer around....coincidence?) Location, location, location. I have a highly scientific process of matching names of members and countries represented. (They all go into my hat and the wife draws names out so I don't know who has who. This allows me to participate too. ) Like Dragon said - I can usually sort it all out pretty well. Correct. If you happen to get someone you know, and you're aware of a secret collection/hobby they have, feel free to send them something related to that. The first year I sent someone a frisbee golf disc since I knew they enjoyed the sport. The only 'rule' regarding gifts is the $10.00 minimum to make it fair for everyone. For example, if its a custom you're making for the gift, you could easily have all the parts, but you spend hours working on the project, IMO you've met the $10.00 requirement. Anything else is up to you. I honestly haven't had a chance to ask them yet. Until I do and post an official OK, please don't assume and impose on them. On another note....holy crap. This is the third annual MMMV Secret Santa.
  5. I know Diamond cancelled a group of pre-orders and they resolicited the 1st wave. Maybe your retailer missed the resolicit? Supposedly they're scheduled for release in December. (And I'm going to win big $$ in the lotto next week....)
  6. Thanks! I'll have to check that one out.
  7. Woodgod and Bibeast are at the top of my list for must have Hulk characters.
  8. I love the Watcher Luke. Fantastic work. IMO that would be the perfect Con Exclusive to complete the FF/Silver Surfer/Galactus set. Maybe Chuck would be more receptive if he were dressed as Spidey....
  9. Where did you hear they'd been cancelled? Was this via whomever you preordered them through?
  10. I read constantly. If I'm not doing something, I've got a book in my hands - doesn't really matter what the subject is, I'll read it. As a result, my bookshelves are overflowing. I belong to the Borders book club. I get free books & stuff for buying more books - and it doesn't cost me a dime. What's not to like? Even with that, it still gets expensive. I very rarely walk out of there spending less than $50 on books. My wife (who graciously puts up with all my toys and other crap) is tired of books being everywhere, so I looked into selling them at a local used book store. I took in a box of stuff and got about $10 in credit. Then when I tried to use the credit on books I wanted, they were excluded from 'trade credit'. So I looked for other alternatives and found a great site called Swaptree. (I have no affilation with the site and I don't get anything if you go check it out. I'm not posting a link either - just because I don't want anyone to say I'm getting referral credits or anything from the site.) The general concept is, list the books (or cd's, dvd's, video games) you are willing to trade and they'll start sending potential trades your way. You can accept or reject the trades as you wish. I listed about 45 books I'm willing to part with to test it out. I listed them Sunday night and have already traded 5 books. All I'm paying is media rate shipping (at about $2 per book). So $10.00 for about $60 - $70 worth of books (since some I'm trading for are hardcovers vs paperbacks). If you've got lots of books you want to get rid of (or cd's, dvd's, etc) IMO Swaptree is the place to do it.
  11. Articulation is slightly better than a Kubrick, but only because they have elbows and knees. It certainly isn't on par with Stikfas. It isn't any better than what you get with a 'mate. Range of movement is about the same - even in the 'upgraded' version 3 or 5 or whatever # they claim to be up to now. The cuts on the shoulders and thighs to extend the (limited) range of motion were suggested by yours truely, so any 'bias' Gwarff claims I have against him certainly didn't stop him from taking the suggestions in my review (way back in '03, iirc) and implementing them for an 'improved' product. The website I linked to above has been pulled due to Gwarff complaining to the provider. The individual who created it is fighting their case currently and hope to have it back up soon.
  12. For those of you who were here the past couple of years and participated, you know how this works. Rules once again are pretty much the same. For those who either didn't participate or weren't around back then, please read the rules before signing up. You will be held accountable for them if you agree to participate. Here's how it's gonna work: To participate this year, you must have +5 positive feedback scores or higher in the trading thread. If you qualify, please email reideen1313@yahoo.com the following form with Minimate Multiverse Secret Santa Info as the title (so it doesn't go into my spam folder). This form MUST be submitted no later than 11/23/08 to participate. Names will be distributed the last week of November. Minimate Multiverse forum name: Email address you can be contacted at: Name you want packages sent to: Address to ship to: Special shipping instructions (if any): Are you willing to be a backup volunteer? Anyone you DON'T want to be assigned to? (I don't care why and won't tell anyone you opted not to get - it would just be nice to know in advance and avoid any potential issues.) Items you're interested in receiving? Any other notes/special info you feel we need to pass on to your Santa? The Rules The items should be sent no later than the 15th of December. This would allow time for holiday mail (and allow us time to circle the wagons to cover any problems that may pop up). Hopefully everyone would have their item(s) by Xmas. We will try to have US members send to US members and UK members send to UK members. This will cut down not only on shipping time but additional costs as well. Please be aware, there is a possibility we may have an odd number of participants from either side of the pond, so you may need to send to a foreign member. Every attempt will be made to avoid this, but things happen. If this is a problem, and you absolutely cannot send overseas, please make note of this in your email sign up. Identity of the sender: You do not tell people who you got until the final reveal on 12/30/08, or until the person guesses correctly, whichever comes first. NO trading! You send to the person you're assigned. Receivers can start guessing the sender as soon as they receive their item(s). Obviously, if you participate you must send an item. Regarding non-sending If you have signed up, and you find you can't fulfill your obligation to send a gift to the other member, be it for financial reasons, health problems, time constraints, or whatever other reasons there might be, it's ok. I understand - things happen. Please, all I ask is that you let me know as soon as possible. I have some volunteers to be backups - so we can get members reassigned and gifted - preferably before Christmas. I intend for there to be NO disappointments in this, even if it means I send the stuff myself. (Please don't make me do this, I'm paying off my wife's college and I've got 5 children...) I won't be pissed unless you just don't do anything without notifying me or a staff member. If you drop the ball you will not be allowed to participate next year and it will be noted in the master feedback list. As members, we've made this a great community. I want all the members to be able to have faith in one another, and depend on each other to fulfill our obligations. No maximum dollar limit for the sender - if someone wants to spend lots of $$ on their person, so be it. However, we will have a minimum $$ amount of $10.00 or whatever is equivalent in your country's currency. Each participant should give a list of items they are interested in - that way everyone isn't looking for Martian Manhunter/Gold Spidey mates. Also, if there's something you don't want (another Wolverine 'mate?) you should state that as well. Keep it PG-13. No Full Monty 'mates.
  13. Also consider how much interest (not to mention $$$) the Blood Drive Monster Mates customs generated on Ebay. I think there's a market for these - just a matter of licensing or doing generic versions of the characters.
  14. I would buy them by the case so I could hand them out on Halloween. Best idea ever.
  15. I'm working on it. I should have the official announcement & rules up sometime this weekend.
  16. I like this site better. For some reason, I believe everything they say, vs nothing Shocker says.....
  17. Hopefully it doesn't show up in a solicit at BBTS or some other online store before the reveal....
  18. I can send you a copy of Shocker's cease & desist order if you'd like. You can fill in the blanks yourself.
  19. That spam went out to everyone on their email list Don. I wouldn't be suprised if you get more of it, now that you replied to them.
  20. That sucks MV. Keep in mind, Ebay's new feedback policies prohibit 'retaliatory' feedback - so if you can't work something out with the seller, you can leave negative feedback without worry of getting it back in return. (Obviously I don't sell much on ebay, so the changes to feedback don't bother me as much as it does some others. )
  21. Because that's a character from some UK comic Shocker said they were going to make. Sounds odd to mee Rouge Trooper.... so many jokes, so littel time.
  22. Another indication Charm City is inexperienced in this area. Since they were shipped UPS, Charm City should have the ability to have a call tag generated. (They'd have to pay for this service, but cost for them would be minimal.) There are a variety of return shipping options available for retailers. Charm City may not even be aware of this option and might just need a little education from their customers.
