Twisted Two-Face
For the record, the Gold Battle Beast IS at SDCC, but at "one with every purchase," according to July's ToyFare.
drgnrbrn316
Well, as usual, this didn't take long. I love how in the description it's all in past tense, yet SDCC hasn't started yet. Personally, I like how he used the wrong image.
groundhog7s
For the record, the Gold Battle Beast IS at SDCC, but at "one with every purchase," according to July's ToyFare. I'm hoping that they know what they're talking about because that should make them relatively easy to find after the show.
Cappy
First 1000 DST booth customers on Thursday receive a free Battle Beast. He's green with gold armor. I don't know how the whole purchase thing will effect availability. At noon, they will be giving out actually free promos: Thursday is a MAX pilot Friday is a Ghostbuster promo Saturday is a clear orange blank (no evidence of other colors) Sunday is no promo at all
drgnrbrn316
At least now I know what to hunt for on eBay. As usual, the Battle Beast will be the one that requires some work (and money) to obtain.
groundhog7s
Seriously, only 1000 for SDCC? That's just nuts. I suppose there's still hope in what Chuck said once about giveaways of Battle Beasts this year.
link 46
i really want that MAX pilot mate. personally im glad they didn't really go all out with the handouts(i guess because im not there ) but i would've hoped for a comic con logo mate maybe blue. groundhog7s
The promos are already hitting ebay. It looks like the MAX ones are pretty plentiful so far.
drgnrbrn316
Now I just need the Ghost Busters blank and the Battle Beast. Might skip the other blank, depending on if it resembles the ones from years past.
groundhog7s
So, can anyone confirm if the clear giveaway is any different than the 2008 ones?
drgnrbrn316
The ones on eBay look the same, but there could be some subtle difference like the addition or lack of a hole in the head, or the reversing of a knee or something.
Jay Tigran
Any chance someone has a SDCC2010 GB Blank they're willing to sell for less than $20? ::EDIT:: Nevermind, found one on ebay Edited July 26, 2010 by Jay Tigran
Cappy
So, can anyone confirm if the clear giveaway is any different than the 2008 ones? Yeah, I can. (surprise, surprise) There are subtle differences that mark the two as different runs, that and I saw the case they came in -- clearly marked with shipping labels from 2010. The two 'Mates have the same physical structure. Side-by-side, they are identical blues. The only differences I can find are: 1) The head, upper arms, and thighs on my 2008 have always been slightly lighter than the rest of the figure, which could just be a production run randomness on my 'Mate. This issue is fixed on the 2010 version. 2) There is less paint inside the knee-cap-joint on the 2010. That is, if you flex the leg, it clearly reveals white plastic. 3) The 2010 version has a 2010 copyright notice, plus the butt-number tattoo. I'm considering this a re-release. buttheadsmate
I just noticed that 14 of my 25 Battle-Beasts are missing their axes......
boyd
I'll take those defective Battle Beasts off your hands if you want. You don't want a bunch of broken and incomplete Minimates in your collection, do you?

storm 1:08
Seriously, only 1000 for SDCC? That's just nuts. I suppose there's still hope in what Chuck said once about giveaways of Battle Beasts this year. Probably old news now but it was with the first 1000 purchases everyday, you get a free SDCC Battle Beast. I was actually disqualified from getting one each day after the first day... groundhog7s
So 4000?

buttheadsmate
Obtaining these little shits was difficult....some people plumbed the depths ...sank to levels of depravity unknown since SDCC 2008..... ....seriously .....not easy.
Cappy
And yet, some people desperately made new friends because of it. Perhaps it's part of DST's master plan to bring joy to the world?
