homestar17
Probably the most bizarre kubrick I have ever seen .....please be original if you wish to comment  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=270374930988 BHM, I have no idea if you'd consider my post original or not, but here it is regardless. To me, this auction seems sort of silly. I mean, he advertises in his listing that the fig is marked "not for resale," yet he's doing so anyway. That's just asking for his auction to get yanked or for him to get reported. Makes me think of those "America's/World's Dumbest Criminals" videos that they show on TV. (Not saying that what he's doing is criminal, just dumb.)

Makes me think of those "America's/World's Dumbest Criminals" videos that they show on TV. (Not saying that what he's doing is criminal, just dumb.) "Not for resale" is printed on many Kubrick promos/give-aways & is a 'loop-hole' marketing technique which allows Medicom to produce various characters without infringing licensing arrangements. If I use the 'Fantastic Four' kubricks as an example - these were GIVEN AWAY as a promotional item at a Film Premiere or DVD release at a point in time where Medicom were perhaps not holders of the licence to SELL those Kubrick versions of the FF in Japan . The words "not for resale" attempts to cover Medicom's ass. Please excuse the caps which I'm using to emphasise the fine line being trod. Kubricks are rarely sold officially outside of Nippon. My explanation is the best I can do without my attorney present.

karamazov80
The Tron and Max Rebo Kubrick sets are among the few that I don't yet have, but would like to one day. The Max Rebo band is ridiculously expensive, though.

buttheadsmate
I want Tarkin! Why did they make him a chase?! So that they can re-release him at a later date
karamazov80
Tarkin is such an essential bad guy in the first film, I also think that making him a chase (and one of the hardest to find chases) is weird. In his wave alone there are 2 obscure, background droids that were 1:12, while Tarkin and Veers are 1:96?? So that they can re-release him at a later date As Rob is referencing, the fact that Medicom has recently announced several former chases and harder to find figures (including Star Wars) being re-released in cheap 2-packs, or with minor variations (such as the Star Wars Kubs with the BAF parts), gives me some minor hope that I'll get him one day. buttheadsmate
Tarkin & Veers are very plain figures compared to some of the SW kubricks & I can only say that unless you knew they were rare or desirable you wouldn't give them a second glance. Not helping though am I
karamazov80
I wouldn't disagree with that. But if you are a fan of Star Wars, Tarkin is pretty dang important, and thus desirable IMO. By my reckoning, he's one of the top 4 bad guys in the Star Wars trilogy with Vader, Emperor, and Jabba the Hut.

buttheadsmate
Virtually everything I buy comes from ebay but BBTS have these on pre-order at a good price........I have to add that although BBTS are a good bunch their pre-orders can ,sometimes,be a long time coming . I just want to reiterate what Rob is saying here. http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail So, in addition to pre-orders of items that came and went and are likely never to show, BBTS rarely seems to update things when an item is canceled. So, some folks will be waiting a long time to get these: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...amp;mode=retail Regarding those Kubrick/Be@rbrick 2-packs, they usually show up on eBay in fair quantities once released. luke314pi
I actually ordered a few extras of that set from Previews. I wanted one for myself, and I figured I would just unload the extras on ebay. Drop me a PM if you would be interested in one of my extras. buttheadsmate
If collecting kubricks wasn't bad enough in the first place there is a square headed line known as To Fu which is now on wave 7 with numerous bull-shit exclusives. I was lucky(?) enough to acquire in one hit an almost complete set last year which was missing about five items which I have tracked down since except for this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Medicom-To-Fu-Japanese...=item1c0f9d0e02 . I struggle to comprehend why anybody at a toy-company would be involved with a liquor company of any description or vice versa.....weird. Rest assured that this elusive beauty will not be coming to be amongst To Fu company anytime soon These guys like nice though http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-70-Kubrick-ROOKIE...=item4ced3a568a Edited January 21, 2010 by buttheadsmate
NorthRaider
Sweet smelly soybeans BHM, I never took you to be the type who collected To Fu It bears repeating I think that these are the Japanese we're talking about... Marketing liquor with toys seems tame compared to some other stuff I've seen from them Edited January 21, 2010 by NorthRaider

It's awful stuff. None of that stuff is in my collection. I have none of that anime stuff either ,the stuff with the half-naked,half-starved nymphs. None of it. treklord
I'm in Orlando, FL, and a local shop got a case of ALIEN Warriors just before Xmas; I got the last one. My Ripley will now have some work to do. I have the Kyle Reese Minimate, who was Dwayne Hicks' lookalike ancestor; but I'd love to get the KUBRICK ALIENS characters, if I can find them. I also got Alex and Max from the "Where the Wild Things Are" collection after Xmas for $4.00 each at a local comic shop.
buttheadsmate
I'm always a bit slow but I saw the trailer for 'Astroboy' last night so I thought you'd perhaps like to see these.....
karamazov80
To Treklord, I've got some of the Alien characters if you need them (from series 2), that I would sell for pretty reasonable prices (about $6 each). PM me if you are interested. If you are looking for Aliens Marines, however, you are out of luck. Medicom never made those, though I wish that DST would. Unfortunately, I think the signal from the failure of the T2 line (as I have perceived it) is that sci-fi licenses like Aliens and Predator aren't sure fire hits, so I don't anticipate getting the Marines as Minimates, either. Though I must say, that is my next "dream" Minimate license (my first was Minimate Ghostbusters ). Also, this is an exceptional deal: http://www.toynk.com/product/MED-AUG074807...Deluxe-Set.html Edited February 7, 2010 by karamazov80
