  1. Bill, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Know that you have options available to you in your pursuit Don't give up. And check your PM's.
  2. NIiiiice Batduckman looks fun the way a mini figure is supposed to. In fact ...maybe more cartoon like characters is the way to go....
  3. They absolutely do help (and the pictures are fantastic btw. Really. They remind me that i need to upgrade my camera..). Thank you .
  4. Wow ! Thank you very much for taking the time out take a picture. Hmm..that helps a lot. Im still looking forward to SHS/Minimate side by side shots as well. Thanks again..*very* helpful.
  5. Thanks for the reply I look forward to the picture ('s) and its *much* appreciated!
  6. Ive been looking for images showing an average sized Superhero Squad figure next to a minimate figure and i havent found any . Im trying to get a feel for the scale of the figures as opposed to just the height when compared to minimates. Can someone post a picture and/or a link to a picture showing them side by side?
  7. I wish you the absolute best with regard to your employment search and praise for your dedication to see your education through to the end! I wish i had come across this thread sooner
  8. As soon as read about the Father and Son figures i though that the "son" torso could be used in order to shorten the height of the figure bringing it closer to the 1980's versions height. Your dead on with regard to the smaller minmate head being the head used for a "slip on" beast head. I didnt think of that . It would be a fair compromise for the fan and minimate team.
  9. Until today i had almost forgotten about the "new battlebeast" line but after having watched the video created by Pixel Dan it seems with just some minor tweaks this line would be fine and a winner. Creating a successful Battle Beast line seems simple to me - recreate the originals and add articulation. Everyone is happy (well articulation fans are happy and classic fans would appreciate a sculpt more faithful to the originals). So with regard to the new Battle Beast prototype - Shrink the heads. Its out of proportion with the rest of the body (animal head or not). Theres no need to use the heads as slip over mask on a minimate round head base. Simply make the head and add a ball socket. - Round and sculpt detail on the legs. Ive made something almost exactly like the Battle Beast shown at home (several actually) using a minimate body as a base as well. If i can round the legs theres no damn reason a well funded company cant and add top notch detail on them as well. - Maintain the height of the originals (or as close as possible) . The height of the gator "battle Beast Minimate" doesn't bother me but why not try to be as faithful to the original as possible? - Add a square base that looks like the seating area for rub emblems on the original 1980's figures (assuming they cant use rub emblems or identify the beast with element clans). Fans will paint or add their own emblems. Hell place non element emblems there as secondary market element symbol placeholders. Thats fan service and everyone wins. 3-4 minor and easy steps that arent difficult makes this line a winner. Anything other than that is simply trying to reinvent the wheel. Theres no need. If the changes above were made...id buy some . The new battle beast doesnt look horrible but it doesnt look much better than what people can accomplish at home on their own with REAL battle beast as a base. That being said...if you want to make your own articulated battle beast that look exceptional and still use the classic bodies just buy your own joints. Ive made my own joints in the past but came across joints that function the same way my home made joints do... for less than $5 (or 6 shipped) Id rather buy my Battle Beast from the minimate team but only if they make them closer to the originals.
  10. Glad i could help IF you dont mind you can also drill the front of the rim to remove the wheel instead of heating it via boiled water or a soldering iron. A bit of filler putty (plumbers putty that hardens like metal or even apoxie sculpt, etc) after your done and paint works well afterwards to remove any potential blemish.
  11. was this ever taken care of? Generally speaking heat applied to the front side of the axle entry point will allow you to remove the wheel from the axle (most use a soldering iron tip if the wheel hub cap is metal. If not then boiled water). Then slide the entire axle out, straighten or replace axle, apply a new bonding agent to the hole of the wheel taken off and your almost as good as new.
  12. Nice blog you have there I wish you the best of luck both in your collecting hobby and with the blog's reception. Ill check it out.
  13. Obviously im WAY late with regard to a reply but having read your answer i do see the point of having a Want Have dedicated thread. On the other hand simply checking the first 2 pages of the flea market for member threads that have been updated or bumped (bumped once every 2-3 days as a hypothetical rule) would make finding new items posted by members for more convenient. Almost every other major board does this and it works very well . It would seem both systems work but the latter seems more convenient in that you dont have to wade through the Want Have post that havent been updated to find those that have.
  14. Ive watched every episode and its good enough to continue watching when it returns in april. Its not great...but its good.
  15. I havent read a Marvel Comic in a LONG time and wanted input with regard to which titles might be worth my picking up?
  16. In one of my post i explained how i did it (ive had to do it 2x actually) with my wolverine Minimate('s). Youll need super glue a plastic rod ( i like to use a leg from the plastic t3 legged stands used in pizza boxes to keep the roof of the pizza box from being pressed against the pizza. Its a flexible yet firm plastic) a drill and the smallest drill bit available a dremel with a diamond burr (or use the smallest possible drill bit VERY slowly). *Possibly a bit of sculpy or cotton fibers from a cotton ball. I used sculpy myself but you want something that will give the glue something rough to attach to Drill a hole through the waist Insert rod Drill/dremel holes into the ball ends add a drop of glue into each ball end (at this point you can add a bit of cotton ball fiber or the tiniest piece of sculpy inside the hollowed out ball) Attach one ball end to one end of your rod thats been measured to the appropriate length Slide it through the waist Attach other ball end Let dry and your done. Personally i give my fixed waist pieces ample drying time.
  17. That Warthog with Spartans pic is a triumph!
  18. That made me spit my tea out . Thank you While im not overly impressed with the use of a minimate body as the base for a BB return ..it IS better than nothing. Besides if the line is some what successful who knows what changes might be made down the line. The idea of a Hare Razing Rabbit does intrigue me.... Ive been experimenting with block figure (minimates , I men , etc) Battle Beast hybrids for a long time now. I never finished them as the look i desired mentally required a complete new sculpt. Id much prefer to see the parts rounded, with sculpted detail and less blocky but again..the DST offering is a start.
  19. .......Ronald Moore and company have done it again.... They've DONE IT AGAIN! Credit the the OP as i hadnt thought about this "series" until reading this thread. Fantastic
  20. DOnt feel bad lol. Ive watched the first episode a few times to keep myself from watching all of the released episodes thus far in anticipation of the complete "movie".
  21. You know...ive had this series and Exo Squad on my hard drive for years now (literally) and i cant help but wonder why folks havent picked them up via Ebay or "middle men" online years back considering how long its taken for both aforementioned series to become widely available through retailers / rights owners (or soon to be in this case). Long live the net'....
  22. Very small; smaller than Legos. It should be fine, because they always get the vehicular scale off, but you never can tell...and pricing is the same as Lego, as in usually overpriced. Actually, those look to be in the newer MegaBloks style, ala Pyrates, Spider-Man 3 and King Arthur. Those last two lines are actually fairly close to Minimate scale and MegaBloks tends to oversize their vehicles. So, the good news is that these vehicles ought to fit Minimates quite nicely. The bad news is that MegaBloks bricks, no matter how cool they look, never seem to quite stick together. And TTF, I certainly understand your frustration that DST doesn't get their Minimate shot at the Halo license. Ill definitely be snapping up these Halo sets and primarily for the figures. I really like what the Mega Bloks company as a whole is trying to do with their toy lines. They are all fairly affordable , interchangeable, and for the most part original concepts (outside of the franchises / licenses like Halo, marvel , etc. Im thinking of their plasma lines and Neo Shifters/ Machines lines). They are one of the few companies thats trying something different (again ill give them a pass on the above mentioned licenses and franchises as they have to survive in this market place). Ive never been a building block buyer in the past but Mega Bloks has won me over slowly. They are far from perfect / reaching their full design potential but what they have done with Pyrates, Escape from Singapore and Legends of King Arthur was enough to grab my attention. I actually bought some Pyrates on clearance. That was my first building block related purchase in my life and e Mega Bloks made me open the wallet in less than a year after the Pyrates debut. The other big name company has had well over 20 years and still hasnt made me want to buy their product (although i did think their figures were very cool in kindergarten ) . Mega Bloks is striking the right balance with their figure / block combination. Not perfect..but a good balance. .....Definitely buying these and im quite sure another big name company that previously has not entered the "toy/action figure" market in the past will be teaming up with Mega Bloks in the next 2 years. The rumors are out there.
  23. No magnets (although that would have been an option..). I just modified the belt so that it could fit on a minimate waist and then made a master mold and casted a copy of the original.
