karamazov80
Yeah, $1,200 actually seems kind of cheap to me considering the level of expertise/attention to detail required and amount of work you would need to put in for a full sized book. TM2 Dinobot
Really? Ouch. Maybe I should sell my car. (No, not really) (especially since I can't even make a simple web post without typos. >.<) Edited October 30, 2011 by TM2 Dinobot
nate_studio
I hear you, man. I'm an artist. I just turned 25 in June. In September my job contract was up so now I'm unemployed. I'm married and my wife works, so we have enough money to live on our own, but things are getting tight again. All you want to do is work on your dream, your passion. Not some boring retail or office job. My dad is a musician. He worked his 30+ years for the city water department. Now that he's retired he says he's having the time of his life. I'm really struggling with which path to take. I feel like any time or energy spent looking for an office job is time and energy taken away from my artwork and if I succeeded in finding one of those jobs, it means my art is just a hobby. Something on the side. I don't want that. I forget who said it here, but no one really knows why those who catch the breaks do. It is really just about opportunity, not talent, I suppose. Maybe it takes moving to a different city where you can meet the right people at the right time for things to work out. I don't know. I obviously haven't figured it out yet, but I'm trying. Right now, I'm trying. That's all we can do, really. Try our hardest and stay positive. Don't give up hope and don't give up any opportunities. Best of luck, man. TM2 Dinobot
I'm on spring break, trying to clear my head, and all I can think about is how I won't have a job come summer time. Just... ugh. Why? Why is this whole 'living' thing so freaking hard?
Mirymate
Life's tough, wear a cup. Seriously, it's not that it's hard, it's just constant. Only one way out and all.
TM2 Dinobot
Slight necro. Lost almost an entire month's worth of work today. Saved last night, put it in sleep mode. Woke up this morning, my computer was on and the file was 5kb. I've got backups, but they're 3 weeks old. Yeah, I cried. The worst part is I don't even have a clue what happened. I tried every backup and restore trick in the book, to no avail.
Shanester
Set your system to back up EVERY night. I do it and it pays. One thing for sure about data storage...it will eventually fail. Back it up or mirror it. Its easily automated with Win 7 or 8.
Lobsterman
If it's any consolation, when my computer crashes and I lose work, I find I'm able to reconstruct what I'd lost more quickly and better than the first time. I think of it as "nature's editor," helping me trim out everything that wasn't essential enough that I would remember it. Okay, it's not really a consolation.
