There's a press screening in Atlanta tonight and the guy at my LCS gave me two passes to get in. Too good of an opportunity to pass up (oh I'm just full of puns today.). So who else is excited about this movie?

Its awesome, some good kick-ass moves (pun intended) and a really good script with quite a good few laughs throughout the film, I won't hand out any spoilers but if you get the chance to go see it go! You won't be dissapointed.

I read the series as it came out and recently bought the Hardback to re-read the story. I love it and can't wait to see the film. I was boycotting all Nick Cage movies, but I gotta see this one.

I've never read the series - i've only heard the hoopla about how innapropriate it is for under-aged viewers.

That was one of my favourite parts about seeing Watchmen in theaters. So many parents escorting their spawn out of the theater. LOL

I can't wait for this film.

Hopefully when kids ask the parents "Can we go see Kick-ASS?" the parent will have enough sense to say "HELL no."

If they don't ask, hopefully the parent will be smart enough to realize just by the title this isn't a kids movie.

Not to get too far off topic, but as a parent I can never understand why some parents don't screen movies before taking their kids? This is definitely one of those movies that need screening. I'm definitely looking forward to going to see this once it hits though.

Simple as that. An easy 9/10.

This was the best movie I've seen this year. This was the best superhero movie since Iron Man. It was better than Watchmen. On par with The Dark Knight.

And it used the freakin Banana Splits theme in a fight scene.

I have to say this was the funniest movie I've seen in theaters in years. Sure it's probably no Oscar winner (lacking "sophistication" and "intelligence" and having "watchability by the common man" kinda knock it off the contenders list. ) But this movie is just awe inspiring (especially the

Gataling Gun Jetpack set to Elvis's American Trilogy (the Battle Hymn part) which had the audience literally cheering.

Suffice to say gentlemen, and resoring to a lame pun cliche:

This movie KICKS ASS.

Go see it

(And if your kids are under 16, shove 'em in How to Train Your Dragon or something.)

The only movies i and my sister got to see in the theaters were Disney movies. I remember seeing most of them as we were just at the right age for the Disney Renaissance. But aside from that we didn't see anything in the theater. We watched some stuff when it came out on video, obviously after mom and dad had seen it. Going to the movies was a special treat. It's too expensive to do it more than once a year! If I had kids the only thing I would trust 100% would be Pixar films. The rest would be screened on video.

Probably not. Shane mentioned the hardcover... but TPB I'm not sure.

I just checked the rating, and it mentioned nudity. I plan on seeing it with my pops and just want to know whether or not it's excessive, or if it's dudity (male).

The "nudity" is basically something taken from National Geographic. All it is is a picture of an African Tribal woman with boobs showing. Yeah. No big deal. That's all there is. Barely merits the rating. There's a LOT more sex suggested, but nothing really shown. The only actual sex scene there is they have everything covered.

Ah the epics... Great films. Unfortunately due to their length I can't drudge up the time to watch them more than once every 2 or 3 years.

Well I'm super smart. I wanted to see this movie this weekend, but it wasn't playing where i was. i figured it was cause it was a 4 screen theater. So I checked my home big theater today. Still not playing. I was like "Did this mmovie create that much contreversy?!"

Don't worry I'm sure they'll be showing it alot in the USA, you just have to wait until this weekend

I saw it the Saturday before last and really enjoyed it and will probably go see it again. I'd highly recommend this movie to comic book fans or anyone with an open mind. It has a really good pace and although it's called Kick-Ass, I feel Hit-Girl steals the show. It might receive some criticism due to Hit-Girl in general (11 yr old girl with guns, knives and getting beat up).

It does feature alot of humour and mainly violence. Not really much nudity apart from a breast shot and Kick-Ass rubbing self tan on his love-interest's back.

In the UK it's rated a 15 and I feel it's justifiable due to the violence but as far as Superhero movies go, this is definitely a more realistic and refreshing take on the concept but also doesn't take itself too seriously and anyone planning to see it needs to go into the cinema/theater with the same mind-set

I saw Kick-Ass tonight and while I did enjoy it, I am not having quite the nerdgasm that a lot of like minded people are. Hit Girl does very much steal the show and she is great. The young girl that played her looks very good doing all of the action in the movie. I think that the real story of Kick-Ass though is Matthew Vaughn. If he did this with a modest budget I can not fathom what he will do when a studio lets him make a huge budget movie. In case you don't remember he was originally attached to the 3rd X-Men movie but dropped out after spending a lot of time butting heads with Fox. Imagine how much better that movie could have been with someone like him at the helm instead of Brett "The Hack" Ratner.

Okay, I saw it...

This movie is so awful. I can't even begin to describe how dissapointed I asm that I actually spent money to see this. It missed the ENTIRE point of the Kickass story. There are scenes and lines that I was waiting with baited breath for that never happened. I see maybe 2 movies a year. Ironman takes this year to 3 (4 if you count HTTYD twice) I am just so horrified this was one of them.

The point of Kickass, the comic, was that there was no happy fairy tail ending. Nothing worked out okay in the end, except for Mindy. Possibly. Kickass didn't get the girl, nor did he become rich and famous. Big Daddy was revealed to be a fraud. Even Red Mist lost his family and his dad's empire. The comics is a depressing reality tale of "what if people tried to be super heroes" and lo and behold it ends realistically, with people's lives in the dirt.

This movie however has happy endings for everyone. Kickass gets the girl. Red Mist get's his father's job. Big Daddy dies vindicated, knowing his little girl is more than capable of finishing his job. Arguably Mindy get's a worse ending, living with a stranger in NYC, instead of moving in with her mommy in mid-west suburbia.

The grandiose violence that marred the comic isn't there. Don't get me wrong, the film is bloody enough in it's own right. But I'm talking about Kickass

getting his balls fried off

or Big Daddy's brains being splattered. It just... The dialog wasn't even there. Kickass' moment to stand up for himself and say "Hit me!" didn't come, and he was the lesser hero for it.

Over all, this movie was too focused on Gatling guns and bazookas to do the story true justice that it deserves. Don't get me wrong, check it out from the library. But don't go see it by any means. Make it a family night and go see How to Train Your Dragon instead.

And yes, Chloe Moretz stole the show.
