blacksun1520
I have decided to go back to school for what I should have gone for in the first place, graphic design, and I was wondering if anyone knows the best, cheapest place to get a copy of Photoshop. It doesn't need to be the newest version, but not the oldest either. I just had my first class tonight and I don't need to have it on my computer at home, but it would be a lot easier. Thanks for any help. BS
buttheadsmate
I'm pretty sure that there is some relaxation of the license when 'education' is involved . I can only imply what I believe is legally allowed but as I'm not certain.... I won't spell it out.
Bob Harris
Yes, you should check what Adobe offers via your "school". For example, if I do buy the newest Adobe Creative Suite 4 (including CS4 photoshop, flash, illustrator, dreamweaver and many more) as a regular offer in Germany, I'd pay around 450 Euro (580$). If I'm buying it via my University as a student, I'd pay 270 Euro (350$). It's still pretty expensive, so you might look for an older photoshop version, but the education thing BHM suggested might be an option as well. buttheadsmate
This ebay link has little relevance to Photoshop but read the 'small print' contained in the text & you'll get my drift about Academic License etc. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COREL-DRAW-X4-GRAPHI...1QQcmdZViewItem

It is free. I'm sure it isn't as great as photoshop, but it might be a nice placeholder if you can't afford it just yet. Here are some of the other free programs it lists: http://www.inkscape.org/ http://www.getpaint.net/index.html http://park18.wakwak.com/~pixia/ (Japanese text, weird) http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/...lus/default.asp With my student discount, I can get photoshop for $170, apparently. Bob Harris
Speaking of a placeholder, you could always bring out the Gimp.
blacksun1520
Thanks for all the advice and links everyone I actually can't use a different program though, the class I'm taking is learning how to use Photoshop, so free substitutes wouldn't work to my advantage in getting a passing grade I would so go with the student discounted CS4 if it weren't for needing to pay the bills. I tried to get a reasonably new version on ebay, but the price wasn't quite worth it to me, but it looks like I have a hook up for solving my problem.
