buttheadsmate
*crickets chirping....* So this thread has been quiet for a while now and figured it could use a new post =) Through the help of 2 generous members here, my Metal Gear Kubrick collection is growing strongly! Yesterday on ebay, I picked up the Snake with Alligator mask and a case of 20 Kubrick display cubes for them. That Snake was my biggest want so its cool to say I finally own him. If anyone cares, I'll post a pic once everything arrives =) So anyone else pick up anything cool Kubrick wise? Hear any interesting news? Sometimes I feel that you,Sam & I are like unwanted missionaries preaching to the natives who have an extremely good reason to worship their existing 'gods' Regarding the generous members WTF are they ? Are they reading this ? If so.....Please help with my collection! Those kubrick cases ,now discontinued, are perfect for displaying kubricks (strangely enough) & are really 'classy' items.Even the carton they come in is 'right' & each case therein is wrapped in cellophane to protect it. Cellophane is so 'Japanese' they seem to love it whilst seemingly it has been replace by polythene in the UK & US. You see,I even get a tad excited about the display cases I have had quite a spree on kubricks lately completing (I think!) the entire Special Forces Series (1-6),MGS (1 &2) & all but 2 secrets from the Disney Series (1-7). The latter is one that really grows on you slowly & most non-chase characters are still very affordable. My Star Wars collection continues to keep me poor & is actually becoming a bit embarrassing & boring because I continually have to question myself "Why am I doing this".......It's crazy but as only you -Are-Jay- & Karamazov are reading this you already know what I mean
karamazov80
Well, if you've seen some of the collections on Kubrick Nation, you know that there are some other wackos out there, too. http://www.kubricknation.com/forum/viewtop...?f=5&t=1015 http://www.kubricknation.com/forum/viewtop...p?f=5&t=981 (I really need to make some stands like this second guy has. . .) The most disturbing thing about Kubricks is how they change your perception about what is "expensive" and what isn't. Before Kubricks, $30 seemed the absolute most that I would pay for a Minimate, and even if I ran across a Black Spidey or Stealth Iron Man Minimate for that price on EBay (before I had them), I probably would have balked at buying. I still give a lot of thought before spending that much, but that is no longer the "ceiling" on what I would pay for a sub 4" figure, as I have paid $20-30 on multiple occasions for individual Kubricks, and even more on a couple of occasions. The problem is that this is a trend that has affected my buying habits with other toys. Slippery slope, Kubricks are. . .of course, Minimates were my "gateway" to Kubricks, so that is where the blame truly belongs.
ARE-JAY
The most disturbing thing about Kubricks is how they change your perception about what is "expensive" and what isn't. Haha that statement couldn't be anymore true. Its a bit frightening how easily I let myself buy that Alligator Snake. Never thought I would spend that much on one figure. I hope I have a little more restraint though when I start on the Star Wars Kubricks. I'm already telling myself that $280 for the boxset with Luke w/Yoda on back isnt that bad price wise LOL In all honesty, its probably better if one collects Kubricks first, and then gets into minimates later. That way you're already willing to spend top dollar for a collection. Minimates that go for $30-40 begin to look inexpensive then what you're used to seeing. IndianaJonesMinis
can any one give me a list of all the MGS kubricks? Also I don't really see the point of the carded Indy as his detailing and accessories fail compared to the first 2 so I won't be picking him up ( for 200 bucks! ) Also I thiink these guys are a smudge overpriced but I like the ghostbusters, metal gear solid, Indy and don't forget halo! Also are-jay, this is transformers muggs from mighty muggs forum. =)
karamazov80
From here: Metal Gear Solid Solid 2 (2001)- Solid Snake (5/24), Hal Emmerich, Olga Gurlukovich (2/24), Revolver Ocelot (3/24), Otacon (2/24), Gurlukovich Soldier Tiger Stripe (6/24), Gurlukovich Soldier Woodland (6/24), Gurlukovich Soldier Night Vision (1/96), Raiden (1/96) Solid 3- Snake Camoflage, 'Squares' camo Snake (carded, 500, WCC19), Snaker Eater in Cold War Camo (SDCC05), Tiger Stripe Snake (DVD pack), Olive Drab Snake 20th Metal Gear Anniversary series (Dec 2007 blind-boxed): Solid Snake (MSG1), Cyborg Ninja (MSG1), Big Boss in Camo (MGS3), Old Snake (MGS4), Raiden (MGS4), clear Ninja (hidden), clear Snake (hidden) Few would buy the carded Indy for his accessories, though. Those crazy "MOC" collectors are the ones that would buy him. Otherwise, save yourself around $200 bucks and get the 2 pack version. --pretty sure Hal Emmerich is Otacon, though-- Edited December 15, 2008 by karamazov80

TM2 Dinobot
How rare do these things get? I wanted a Slave Leia and Boba Fett back in the day when they came out, but the price on Fett scared me away from getting Leia also.
karamazov80
How rare do these things get? I wanted a Slave Leia and Boba Fett back in the day when they came out, but the price on Fett scared me away from getting Leia also. The slave Leia doesn't pop up on EBay too often, but when it does, doesn't typically go for over $15 or so, as she isn't a particularly popular Kub for some reason, based on what I've seen. Boba Fett is really popular of course, so even though he is one of the more common Kubrick figures, his price is usually $25-35. 2 Boba Fett variants exist, as does a "400%" version. You can even get a carded version if you look around.
buttheadsmate
If anybody wants the "Boba Fett with the tiny little rocket thing on his back missing variant " he is yours ...PM. Edit: Boba Fett has found a new home to go to. Edited December 16, 2008 by buttheadsmate

Whilst going through some of the carded ones I came across these These are all different versions though I cannot confirm that they are significantly different to the other 3 loose versions which I also have. The only one that is obviously different is the 'animated' version which has the yellow torso. I was also checking on ebay what they supposedly 'go for' Stupid ! Here are further examples of my famous photography I also secured a grail from evilbay as well today Blue Twiddle....I am losing the plot Edited December 17, 2008 by buttheadsmate
karamazov80
I forgot about that Animated Boba, but I didn't know there were 2 separate, "more regular" versions. I knew of the one that one came with the single card release of all the wave 1 figures: http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Medicom-BOUN...%3A1%7C294%3A50 but the other one apparently was a "Bape Gallery" exclusive: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ultra-Rare-Medicom-Sta...p3286.m20.l1116 Cool stuff there, BHM. Looks like you have a nice-sized Kubrick collection! I dig the color scheme on the "animated" version. He looks pretty wacky, and as you Star Wars geeks surely know, Boba's first ever appearance was on the Christmas Special cartoon segment, where he looked like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rtPmPDrWjY For those who know GI Joe, you'll note that he looks distinctly like a "Funskool" repaint: http://www.yojoe.com/action/int/ind-beachhead2.shtml http://www.yojoe.com/action/int/ind-buzzer2.shtml http://www.yojoe.com/action/int/ind-bigbrawler.shtml http://www.yojoe.com/action/int/ind-lifeline2.shtml And hey, don't laugh about ol' Twiddle. Beaker (Muppet) is still one of my Kubrick "grails" Edited December 17, 2008 by karamazov80
Cappy
Saw some Lost Kubricks in Urban Outfitters yesterday. A couple had been opened, so one might know what they were buying (which seems to be accepted at Urban Outfitters). And yes Are-Jay[/b, I'd like to see your MGS elite forces. Punisher
how "rare" is this guy? karamazov80 has gotten me interested in kubricks now and i want to get him, but don't know if this is a good price...
buttheadsmate
Rare enough to be on my current 'ebay item watching' list. Not extremely rare but Jin-Roh & the whole 'Panzer Cop/ Kerberos' stuff in general will be huge one day when it becomes mainstream. edit: expect $20-30+ to secure it but that's just my opinion. TM2 Dinobot
Cool! BHM sent me my first Kubrick! He had a Boba Fett and sent it to me. I'm just wondering how these come apart. I'm eager to tey the armor on a minimate. XD

I'm eager to tey the armor on a minimate. XD Be careful with the Star Wars ones. Many Kubricks come apart easily, and in fact, are shown "exploded" on their box, to show how to take them apart, etc. However, the Star Wars ones are different. They are really stuck together pretty good for some reason. If you take them apart, they might break, and they not go back together. I love that Boba Fett, though. Ain't he pretty

I don't think I'll get addicted, but he's nice.
Cappy
For some reason, the Star Wars Kubricks are sold as "unbreakable" (read the box). Meaning they don't come apart. Guess it makes them kid safe or some such. Trying to do so will most probably ruin the figure. Which sucks, but that's the way it is. Having cringed when I read that my ol'mate TM2 is in the process of destroying Boba Fett I decided that it's his & he is welcome to do so. Kubricks DO come apart but not easily & parts are generally NOT interchangeable especially between different themes/licences .........unless you live in Texas perhaps ?
