  1. I was surprised that when DST updated Carnage it wasn't in a Maximum Carnage wave. Hasbro has made a symbiote Deadpool so it would seem unlikely the idea is completely off-limits, unless Deadpool is an exception.
  2. Namor seems to be a character that is more significant than he is popular. That and only having 2-3 significant looks probably makes him less appealing to fit into a wave. I think the major factor though would be DST staying far away from the Fantastic Four.
  3. Good call. Throwing Shriek and Demogoblin in would work for me too.
  4. Hasbro has announced they are releasing comic Marvel Legends Venom and Carnage figures as a tie-in to the upcoming Venom movie and there are rumors of a full wave. DST seemed to have a fair amount of success with this approach with their Deadpool tie-in waves and Venom has sold well in the past so perhaps this is something they would consider? If not it could still be interesting to get a Venom-themed (if not all-symbiote) wave. If you don't hate the idea, what would you like to see? A few possibilities off the top of my head: Mac Gargan Venom: We've had this version before but it would be much better bulked-up. "Back in Black" Deadpool: Seems like this would be hard for DST to pass up. Superior Venom "The Madness" Venom Toxin Venom 2099 Life Foundation Symbiotes: I don't care too much about these characters but they would look cool and I wouldn't skip them. One of the countless heroes or villains that have been possessed by a symbiote.
  5. It doesn't really show us much we haven't seen besides that Peter wears the Homecoming suit for part of the movie. I don't think that would be in an assortment unless it features in a significant scene.
  6. Should they? That seems to assume that change is good just because it's change. There's a lot of bad change out there, especially when companies are eager to use a name to draw you in regardless of the connection.
  7. That's an important point that I rarely see anyone mention and something that applies to Marvel and DC too.
  8. Well, I'd say we have a good handle on what we're NOT looking forward to.
  9. Ugh, not a fan of those Turtle designs. I suppose one thing I am looking forward to is seeing what we get for Marvel comic waves in the remainder of the year. Comic waves in 2017 were somewhat limited but overall pretty good but I'm not too impressed with the first two for 2018, that's mostly about character selection and little about execution.
  10. I would think with this being a sequel it might be set up different than the first one, though it is easy to imagine it being covered in a single boxset. You would think Ant-Man, Wasp, and Ghost would be locks with Bill Foster also being likely. Depending on how Ghost's powers work I could imagine a variant. I don't need another giant ant. Some imaginative accessories or micro versions of characters would add a lot to these.
  11. Execution is to some degree a matter of personal taste but I think there are at least some standards we can judge on. I think few here would say the Mk 46 is as good a minimate as the Mk 47 from Homecoming. Mk 2 War Machine was a good minimate the first two times he was made, he's not a good minimate for the Mk 3. I'd agree Battle-Damaged War Machine is a legitimate variant, but it's the second appearance of a bad minimate in the wave. Eliminate some of those and you don't need a suited Vision to pair up with Scarlet Witch. I understand there are reasons the compromises are made and I can understand it, it still means the final product is compromised.
  12. Zemo is the only major character I can think of that was missing, it's more about lineups and execution. Despite having so many characters to choose from the waves/boxsets seemed stretched out, filled with unnecessary army builders and variants (suited Vision, Rampaging Hulk, Battle-Damaged War Machine). The one good army builder, the Ultron Drone, was shorted in the single packs. I was let down by the execution of a number of characters, the main ones being the Mk 45, Mk46, and War Machine Mk 3 (because it was the Mk 2 again). Not to say there was nothing good: Ant-Man, Falcon, Hulkbuster, and even Civil War Black Widow were all standouts. Alien and Predator are more about execution and my personal taste in movies. If it's not from Predator, Alien, Aliens, or part of the Lost Tribe I'm not very interested unless the execution is very good. I was excited about the idea of Kenner Predators but very disappointed in the execution. I'm good on cloaked Predators. I have so many Xenos now that a slight color variation isn't very appealing. Briefing Dutch and Dillon were cool though. The new boxset was announced right after I posted, maybe that will have something that gets my attention.
  13. I guess I'm looking forward to Infinity War though my expectations are tempered because I was unimpressed with how DST handled AoU and Civil War. That and the new looks for characters, like the horrendous Spider-Man costume, don't do much for me. I'd like to say I was excited about Alien and Predator but the last few waves have seemed particularly uninspired to me, hopefully that will change.
  14. Surprisingly neither of my local stores is on the list. I can't believe my area can support both of them.
  15. Gladiator also has the benefit of not being just an X-Men character since he's appeared in a number of cosmic events. I'm more interested in him as a member of the Annihilators, as short-lived as that series was, than as part of an X-Men story.
  16. If that's the standard we're going to apply then we're going to run into problems with a LOT of characters. One easy solution? DST needs to make a new Kraven and throw in a Chameleon head as an accessory. I'm surprised this place is being criticized for not being positive enough, I rarely see any serious criticism and even most of that is quickly dismissed.
  17. One way is definitely more accurate than another, I'm not sure that's really debatable. If you think what we got is good enough, or worth the trade-off, I guess I can see that, but it doesn't make it correct.
  18. Not upside down but the regular BP definitely has his eyes tilted slightly. There is a definite difference between it and the Powered-Up BP I bought. This is a nice set of minimates, Tactical Killmonger and Klaue especially. Both BPs look better in person than I thought they would from the pictures, the paint on the Powered-Up version really pops. I'm curious to see how the details and character selection hold up after the movie.
  19. You know who definitely is not in TRU 26? Morph. And also Changeling. From any continuity.
  20. While I suffer from X-Exhaustion more than anyone I would happily buy redos of the 90's team. Between the figures that could really benefit from being redone (the aforementioned Beast and Archangel, 90's Iceman) and characters that could be improved with a few accessories (Optic Blast for Cyclops, Comic and Cartoon hair for Jean) I think you could manage a worthwhile set of minimates. Even if some of us diehards were less than enthused, what set of characters could have wider appeal?
  21. I would imagine this is like the Star Wars deal: They can publish comics but it doesn't affect other licensing. And while I would buy Conan minimates I think they would probably sell like the other indie comic stuff: Not great.
  22. The packaging rules for Marvel minimates are one of the weirdest restrictions I've heard of for any license. Something like height restrictions I understand even if I think it's silly from a practical perspective, but who would really be worried about how much of a figure is visible in a package? How can it be a useful restriction? It's like a rule for the sake of having rules.
  23. I mentioned in the ML thread how cool it would be to get minimates in retro packaging like the ML retro collection. I would probably buy extras of those to keep carded.
  24. Given the price increase we get on a boxset I would hate to see how much a 6 or 10-pack would cost.
  25. I'll probably break down and buy one of the Xeno packs when I see them since at least the colors are different but the same old molds for the umpteenth time doesn't excite me much. I have no interest in any of the humans.
