  1. Yay! Comic oriented Marvel mates! Cool beans.
  2. I hope 19 and 20 are comic related and not movie related. However, and here's me being a pessimist- DST will probably figure this would be a good time to roll out some FF Rise of the Surfer themed Mates. You know, to coincide with the release of the film. Last month.
  3. Considering I suck at this game you wouldn't think I'd have as much fun with it as I do. GA Green Lantern/Solomon Grundy Cyborg/Wonder Girl Martian Manhunter/Dr. Light (villian) Solar Suit Superman/Doomsday
  4. I kinda like marking these off as they are announced! 10. Atom Smasher 9. Rocket Red 8. Mr. Terriffic (MA) 7. Black Manta 6. Reverse Flash/Prof Zoom 5. Black Canary 4. Atom (SA) 3. Firestorm 2. Green Lantern (GA) 1. Flash (SA) Revised: 10. Martian Manhunter 9. Atom Smasher 8. Rocket Red 7. Mr. Terrific 6. Black Manta 5. Reverse Flash/Zoom 4. Black Canary 3. Atom (SA) 2. Firestorm 1. Green Lantern (GA) I guess I need to update! 10. Atom Smasher 9. Rocket Red 8. Mr. Terriffic (MA) 7. Black Manta 6. Reverse Flash/Prof Zoom 5. Black Canary 4. Atom (SA) 3. Firestorm 2. Green Lantern (GA) 1. Flash (SA)
  5. Beautiful. Finally, a MA/SA Flash. I'm not worried about Clayface or Grodd moving too far away from the standard Mate look. They still fit right in and the fact that DCD is working in variety in shapes and characters is fantastic and shows that the DC Mates have some legs or staying power. Proof in the pudding on that is the Bug/Lobo pack. Just awesome. Seriosuly awesome. I'm excited for this wave, like the other waves.
  6. Well, I completely missed the boat but I'm not upset with the Wave 7 pickings!
  7. Steel, Cyborg Superman: 9/10 due to the detailing. These have all the little touches that have made the DC Mates so good. The only reason I deduct a point is the accesories in this wave was weak compared to others (I mean, I might as well be nitpicky in this thread about these, right?). Batgirl, Spectre, Wildcat, Bane, GA Flash: 8/10 These get a one point deduction as they lack the detail of the two above, though in all fairness, the Spectre doesn't lend himself to a lot of detailing, so this probably isn't fair. He's a pretty plain design after all. But he's also a perfect representation of the character I think, the face, the plain costume etc, he looks like he jumped off the page and took life as a Mate. Ditto for the others. Deadman: 7/10 I only knock poor Deadman because of the cheast piece. I don't mind it in and of itself, but it limits the head's movement, and for that there is another deduction. Overall I think these are great additions, and am thrilled with more GA folks. The JSA group is coming along nicely!. Next wave adds the Hawks (JSA and JLA I suppose) and Captain Marvel, for the modern JSA. Hurry next wave. Hurry.
  8. This is another great series I think. First, it was awesome to get so many Leaguer's in this wave. Aquaman is near perfection for a Mate. The feet/leg fins and the other detailing are great, but what I like the most is he isn't over detailed. He just looks perfect. WW is a darn close second and the inclusion of her lasso is great, even if it is rolled up. Green Arrow, well the only problem I have is the hair piece, but that's minor to me. Could have been done better but doesn't ruin anything for me. The fact that we get so many villains too, it was a well mixed wave I think overall. I'm not a fan of the character, but Killer Croc is awesome. Just too cool. DCD continues to make me very happy with these.
  9. It's weird for me to see this many people having this many problems. I buy two sets one for me and one for the kid. Waves one and two have each had figures that had problems with joints- especially the knees. I have had to be really carefull but luckily between patience and some ingenuity I have been able toget away with none of my or my son's figures breaking. It seems like the problems were fewer and farther between with those series, though for the rest of you all. Wave three for me had NO problems, I didn't have to work any of the joints at all. They were perfect It's like I'm the Opposite Man. Ways I have found that work on the knee joint: Work it very slowly back and forth. Freeze the figure for a few minutes and then try and move the joint. Heat it up and try. Try freezing then heating, in succession. On one I even used a tweezer to try and remove some paint from the joint. You have to be really patient and crefull, but once you get it done, you're good to go.
  10. All really good ideas! I hadn't even thought about the Watchmen, but boy would that take a little of the sting out of the aborted DCD wave from a few years back, although I suspect that the same reasons blocking that release would prevent this being done. The LSH done as box sets is a great idea to me. A few sets and you could knock out not only the whole team, but also folks like the Substitutes and so on.
  11. Cool news. I was just thinking about this on my afternoon walk around the office. I'm excited for the GA Flash and Wildcat the most.
  12. Aquaman has a point- he is slightly, ever so slightly, shorter than many of the new mates due to a lack of a head piece- his hair is painted on. Compare him with say Supes, or Blue Beetle and he's a smidge smaller. Same way that the New Avengers Luke Cage is to Cap- painted on head versus an actual mask/helmet. I wouldn't say that means they are out of scale however, since they are in the same size mate body as you note. It might bug some people I suppose. I don't really care. My John Stewart looks great next to my Hal Jordan. As for wave 2- Wow. Great stuff again. I have a feeling I will be saying that over and over for the DC mates. They look great, the paint apps are very good, the accesories are wonderful. The Booster/Beetle two pack was so great- I bought the awesome Blue Beetle DC Direct figure when it came out and then nothing on Booster until the recent release for 52 figures (which by then I had already given away/sold all my DC Direct out of frustration). Power Girl looks awesome. No need for a bigger chest. What they did works perfect for mates. Dr Fate is great and looking, maybe my favorite of the wave. I like him as much as my old Super Powers Fate frankly. Braniac is very cool, along with Supes. Robin while slightly too big I think still looks great (can we get a SA BAtman to go with him maybe?) and they did a nice job on Penguin as well. Overall a nice set.
  13. Hope they stick to it. Count me among the cacophony of voices who don't want chase figures. If a variant will be easy enough to find, I'm OK with that I suppose, but even the variants drive me a little nuts. I'd prefer they stick with the way they are doing it now.
  14. Best Guess: Green Lantern (GA)/Dr. Mid-Night Atom (SA)/Elongated Man Solar Suit Superman/Doomsday Cyborg/Wonder Girl The great thing is so far, even when I'm wrong I still win with as good as the assortments have been each eave thus far.
  15. I guess I need to update! 10. Atom Smasher 9. Rocket Red 8. Mr. Terriffic (MA) 7. Black Manta 6. Reverse Flash/Prof Zoom 5. Black Canary 4. Atom (SA) 3. Firestorm 2. Green Lantern (GA) 1. Flash (SA)
  16. And I wasn't even close. Unless we allow me to pretend I meant Supergirl but WROTE Batwoman. Regardless... I am super psyched about the Blackhawk/ Sgt Rock two pack, far more than I thought I would. What a great two pack- figures I didn't buy in the DC Direct line but this is one of the things I love about the 'Mates- for the price I'm willing to buy figures I wouldn't necessarily buy otherwise, like these two. And they look good. Star Girl and Stripe- well, it's nice to see the Mates line at least pay attention to the JSA, unlike the 6"/7" line. Supergirl and Bazarro look great. Maybe the ones I'm leats excited about but still like none the less. The battle damage Wonder Woman and Cheetah- I'm stoked for Cheetah and OK with the battle damaged WW. I realize we're going to get big three variants all over the place, and am OK with it. But what I think I really like is the fact that they are mixing in so many villians into the waves. Two major new villians this wave alone. Good times. Good times
  17. My DC top ten wishlist: In descending order: 10. Rocket Red 9. Mr. Terrific (MA) 8. Cheetah 7. Black Manta 6. Reverse Flash/Prof Zoom 5. Black Canary 4. Atom (SA) 3. Firestorm 2. Green Lantern (GA) 1. Flash (SA)
  18. This was fun to think about...or I'm bored at work. One of the two In descending order, my top 10 wants: 10. Captain Marvel/Photon (I have this thing about completing the cast of Secret Wars in minimate form) 9. Wrecker 8. Kang 7. Sunfire 6. Black Panther 5. Banshee (completes the All New Uncanny X-Men team) 4. Wasp 3. Hawkeye 2. Vision 1. Angel/Archangle (I'd really prefer Angel. I suppose this could make a great variant idea, as many have proposed).
  19. Good news! I hope as well that the set is the Defenders, with 4 never before released characters.
  20. How does DC Direct releasing a Flash or Nightwing make those that bought C3 "suffer"? I have all the C3 stuff but Flash and MM. I'd buy a new Catwoman, Nightwing, etc. It wouldn't bother me to buy these again since they aren't going to look exactly the same as what C3 released. But I'm also in agreement with J- there is no way I'm paying the going rate on eBay for a Flash. $60 plus on one 2 inch figure is just too much for me. For $10 more I can get a couple Archives/Masterworks or an Omnibus. Looking at the two different Supes, each is cool. Each looks a little different. I like both of them. And at the price point, I don't mind a few doubles here and there. Dammit, Jim. We're all in the same gang.
  21. These are friggin fraggin fantastic. I've given up comics. I've stoped buying action figures. But the 'mates? Never. I bought two sets- one for myself and one for my son. I've had no problems with joints at all- a few were stiff but that is to be expected, and the knees aren't loose on any of them. Paint apps look good as well. We're both in hog heaven. My son's favorite is Batman, and I think right now, I'm just blown away by Luthor. Just a fantastic looking figure. We both just were looking at the DC Direct site looking at next month's releases! I can't wait.
  22. That's amazing to me (that a LCS would turn away pre-order business). I could understand I suppose, if you guys were deadbeats that never picked up your orders.... But otherwise, isn't that sorta a bad business policy? Or does Diamond only let each shop order a certain number of cases?
  23. The cynic in me says there is no way that will happen, but dammit, it would be neat if it did. I would buy one The more and more I see these, the more and more I want TWOK minimates.
  24. Very awesome. Hopefully the LCS did not forget the sets for me and the kid. He wouldn't care but I'd be heart broken come Wednesday.
