  1. I just went from happy to ecstatic. I didn't even notive Lockheed at first. DST sure knows how to make me happy. Someone at DST must love Angel. This makes, what, five versions? I don't really see the point of the classic Angel without the rest of the team- hopefully they aren't far behind.
  2. Grrrr. Is it just me or is there still no purchase button for the set? Oops. The description is still wrong too. Come on, tru. Get it together!
  3. Ever since I was a wee young lad, I have wanted to go to SDCC. I still haven't made it (boo hoo), but these drawbacks won't get in my way. Because really, those 5 things pretty perfectly describe my experience everytime I go see a weekend movie. Ridiculously long lines that ultimately lead to a clusterf*ck that only leads to more long lines? Check. Useless "Security"? I'll count the usher that says, "Ok, that will be in Theater 15 on the left" as he points me to the right when really my movie is in Theater 22 straight ahead. Hall H? That sounds pretty much like every theater ever only at the movies it's rude to ask the celebrities questions, yet plenty of tools still do. Fat People? Check, check, and check. Where are the comics (movies)? After watching 15 minutes of shampoo commercials when I just paid $10 for one matinee show ticket, that's how I feel. If I can go through all of that to see The Proposal, I am sure it is worth it for Comic-Con, even if it is amplified. Yeah, we get it on the internet and exclusives are available later, but that just can't be a substitute. It's COMIC-CON. The geek mecca. The pilgrimage is essential for enlightenment.
  4. I heard that too. Then I played it. I found it to be slow paced, repetitive, and somewhat boring. I think I sold it back before I got around to finishing it. It wasn't by any means terrible, I just don't think it lived up to the reputation.
  5. I heard about that a while back on Fresh Air, I think. Later that day I got an email from my wife telling me she heard a neat story about the pulp art of Joel Schumacher. Thankfully we managed to work through that.
  6. Sorry... I just figured it was Minimate Karma for all the empty-handed trips to TRU over the last few weeks. Yay, karma. I should say it is TRU that kills me. I'm glad your haul came in.
  7. It kind of kills me that you ordered these Saturday night and already have them, in one shipment no less, when the sets I preorderd still haven't all arrived and were shipped in four separate packages. And thanks for the unpackaged pics. These look spiffy.
  8. I'm glad I'm not alone on that. That movie kind of makes me miss dial-up.
  9. I have it is heartbreaking for sure. Cried my face off reading that book. Can't wait to see the movie. Holy crap that is a good book. I am looking forward to the movie. I have been reading Wicked Plants: The Weed That Killed Lincoln's Mother and Othr Botanical Atrocities. If you are into gardening or just like knowing fun facts about potentially dangerous plants, this book is a lot of fun. I also highly recommend The Professor and The Madman. It's about one of the many contributors to the Oxford English Dictionary, that most glorious of works. Only this contributor happened to be an American convicted of murder and locked in an insane asylum. It was a real page turner.
  10. I missed Bullseye/Moonstone at my local TRU. There was an Adama/Cylon set mixed in with the Marvel Mates, but I couldn't find any other BSG mates in the store. I also found a box of the Ghostbusters Mates. Still plenty of Wolverine Origins mates clogging the pegs.
  11. I took Chuck's statement to mean that international distributors, not neccessarily TRU, would have the option of selling these outside of the US. I don't know how minimates are sold in the EU, but do you have some official method for getting them rather than by buying from US/non-EU countries? If so, that would be the channel to use, I think. ...each individual toy has to be safety tested in the EU to be sold as a toy? Yowzers.
  12. From the most recent QandA: I live in the States, so I am not hugely affected by this news, but I thought our non-U.S. members could put this to good use. If every non-U.S. member let's his/her shop know they are interested, something might happen. Maybe. Good luck. (Apologies if this is already being discussed. I couldn't find it, and it seems like the kind of news that should be discussed.)
  13. I just got word from TRU that the Egon/Library Ghost and Winston/Terror Dog sets have shipped, but they didn't ship together. That is just annoying. Why, TRU? Why? Edit: Everything has shipped. Only Courtroom Pete and Gooey Ray shipped together. Everything else is separate. That just seems ridiculously inefficient. For some reason, that is really annoying me today. Too much coffee?
  14. Someone over at Protoncharging.com had this to say: link
  15. Congratulations! Today must be pretty exciting and nerve-racking. All the best.
  16. Thanks for the pics. I wish I had made it to the LCS today.
  17. Wow. That's crazy. And I think it's weird that the Joker's plot to sell Joker-gas ice cream is described as wickedly funny. "Hey, remember that time the Joker poisoned a bunch of kids? That was funny." I guess I just don't get Danish humor.
  18. Ah, that would be fantastic. I shot them an email earlier today, but haven't heard back. If that's how they do things, I'm ok with that. Thanks for the tip. So, who is going to post pics of the box set? Surely someone bought it today.
  19. I just got an email from TRU saying that the Winston/Terror Dog set is being processed. The rest of the wave is still listed as backordered. I don't like this- after shipping and sales tax, the total cost is three times the cost of the mates themselves. Yeesh.
  20. C3PO? I'm looking forward to seeing these.
  21. I think there is still enough of a DC oriented discussion to warrant keeping the sub-forum open. In the last month there has been active discussion in six threads not focused on a potential return (and not including this thread). I think as long as people want to talk DC, this section should stay open. If you don't want to read other people's opinions, there is a pretty simple solution: don't. Just ignore this section. It's not hard to not do something. Like right now, I'm not working. I could be, but I'm not. It's that easy. But to avoid confusion, I support Dr Baghead's thread titling proposal.
  22. A rose by any another name, I guess. I'm with you on the modern standard of gorror movies. Not my thing.
  23. Excellent news! That has to be a relief.
  24. Easily at the top of my movie list are the Marx Brothers flicks. I love those guys. I also enjoy the movies of Jean-Pierre Jeunet. A Very Long Engagement, Amelie, City of the Lost Children, and Delicatessen are all great movies. I also have a secret love for Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan movies. Those are the ones that first come to mind. Otherwise, I guess I like most of the movies that you might suspect a 28 year old male who collects two inch toys might like. That's a wild movie. I like some horror (like Alien and Jaws), but I am not a fan of the super-slasher/ultra-violent horror that seems to be all the rage these days. I find it pretty disturbing. That flick is totally worth it for the "we don't need no badges" lines. That and it is a really great film.
