  1. It's amazing that when we get Walking Dead Minimates we'll be getting figures with better sculpts, paint, and likenesses than the Mcfarlane versions.
  2. Trust me, no, you don't want to buy the Mcfarlane Walking Dead figures.
  3. Dear NECA, You can have all my dollars this year. <3 Shamrock
  4. Sweet, with Garfield's jacket I can finally make "Winter Weather Shamrock"!
  5. Hey, Todd Mcfarlane, this is what doing it right looks like
  6. Perhaps we should discuss how legal these other options are...
  7. And while I'm at it, how does everyone like Paypal? Any better alternatives?
  8. Bob, that's awesome of you to do. You're a better man than me. Also, with the MVC3 Wesker coming out you can probably recover the parts pretty easily
  9. Hey, you've got an awesome painting style! Really dig those shadows on Ronan. Keep up the good work!
  10. Thanks for the input everyone! I've updated the title to be more officially because it seems like this is going to be helpful for me people than just me. I think I've got a good idea for what I want to do in the future. I was planning on timing how long it takes me to finish the current custom I'm working on, but then I remembered I was making something crazy complicated (think Big Daddy) so I'll be timing just the painting. Hopefully that will give me an idea of a good average time to add into the calculation.
  11. There was a similar thread to this a while back, but I think this one is from a different enough perspective to stand on its own. So I've been thinking and thinking about this, and I decided that no amount of thinking on my part is going to help me come up with an answer. What the heck should I charge for a custom Minimate? Here's my current structure: A basic custom, all paint no sculpting runs $15, shipped. The prices raises to $20-$25 once you add sculpting based on the complexity. Difficult paint apps could also call for a rise in price. Based on both Ebay and what I've seen around here, this is low. I intentionally kept it low back when I started commissions because I thought the hand painted nature of my customs made them look less authentic than decal based customs as my final products often have a texture from the paint, it's hard to describe. I've come to terms that this doesn't actually bother anyone and is actually one of the reasons people might choose to buy a custom from me. So that leaves me where I am now. What is a custom worth? Gotta be at least $3.50 to cover the Minimate. How should I factor in cost of materials? Shipping? Group rates for large orders? Do the characters matter? I have a very difficult time placing a value on my work, so my questions are: Customizers, how do you determine your costs for commissions? Customers, how much do you think is reasonable to pay for a custom?
  12. Great stuff all around, made for a tough vote.
  13. When I first saw this I thought it was going to be like their corporate logo, because that's what it looks like. So something used at the upper level management stuff that the regular audience would almost never see, while the comics retain the familiar 2005 logo, I know some companies do this for some reason. But I just can't see a point to this redesign. That said I do like how it's applied to the comics.
  14. Hannu is awesome. I had never gotten around to finishing my Dex-Starr, I was using Venkman's cat.
  15. The logo did actually just change But it was only an update. I've thought of this before because the logo is very childish, the only problem is I don't have any clue what would be better.
  16. Hey! The thingy it is over yes? Looks like a good turnout
  17. Those guys make me glad that they got past the whole "harsh corners" thing on sculpted pieces.
  18. Oh hey there, got a bit of an update on Penguin. I felt like there was really something I had to make to finish off his appearance in the game. Something essential.... Yep, his cigar. Thanks for looking!
  19. I tried, like I think everyone else in the world, to pick up guitar. Got one for Christmas one year (like everyone else in the world) and promptly never touched it after a month. Much like everyone else in the world. When starting college I tried to learn ukulele, cause I'm so different and zany and nobody understands me. That was also a failure. On the other hand, my brother can pick up any instrument he wants and if he sets his mind to it he can play it. I say, if you're gonna pick up an instrument to be different, go big or go home. Get a theremin.
  20. Hell, I copy preexisting patterns and I don't even use decals! Been trying to kick the habit lately though.
