  1. a 2.5 Barda and Darkseid would rock. It would be cool if they could do a whole New Gods Minimates wave.
  2. I'm going to wait until this guy hits ebay. No matter what I end up paying for him there it's going to be cheeper than buying stuff I don't want (Star Wars bobble heads for instance) and then paying double (or tripple) what shipping should be. If the $25 included items from the whole store I would have bought the Defenders set from them but as it is I'm going to purchase that item from CSC or BBTS. I wish I could support a store that is making exclusive Mates possible but they really need to rethink the whole over charging on shipping/selective promotion thing.
  3. I've noticed two items have moved out of the Holiday Sale since this morning a Max Sentinel and the Spidey box set. This added to the charge of $18 shipping for $25 of product makes it hard for me to trust AFX.
  4. Probably just me, but I've been skipping the Star Trek Mates because to me they seem a bit bland. I'll admit I'm not really a Trek fan (though I used to watch it as a kid and thought it was pretty good) on the other hand, I've bought all of the BSG mates thus far and have never seen an episode of that show. For me it's the coolness of the toy/the value for my money (in paint and sculpt detail, accessories) that sells me on a line more than the license of the line itself. For the DC mates though I love both the license and the line.
  5. Couldn't agree more, I really like the inovation to the Minimate block form that is coming out with the DC and Battlestar Galactica Mates, the more detail, sculpt and accessories the better for me. I pretty much ignored Marvel Mates in the past as I didn't see them as a value for the money. The DC mates on the otherhand I've pre-ordered every series as soon as they've been anounced. I'm really looking forward to getting Saalak, that is one cool looking figure.
  6. The peg on LEGO hands will fit perfectly in the Minimate arm holes so you could just swap out hands and use the LEGO hands to hold the LEGO accessories.
  7. I'd like to see the females get a different and more feminine chest block, one perhapes that is tapered midway down the block towards the waist.
  8. I just saw a regular Halo set (blue, red, green, clear) on ebay with a bid on it priced at $70, which is crazy as I just got the same set in the mail from BBTS the other day and paid $18 for it. I'm thinking the bidder thought that it was the variant set. The cheeper Kubrick sets to get are those released in conjunction with American companies, the Halo set, Batman set (with Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Scarcrow, Mr. Freeze) and (I'm thinking but could be wrong) the X-Men set and Spawn. I've stuck to these mainly.
  9. For me the quality of Minimates has never been better. As I go back in time picking up older Minimates I notice the sloppy paint of say the early Daredevil wave and the loose fitting parts of the early C3 mates. The new Marvel and DC mates compared to these early figures is night and day. The amount of accessories, paint detail and sculpt complexity have all increased as well.
  10. I picked up this wave along with the Zombie pack and the X3 wave and I have to say I like wave 16 the least of those. The main reason is the extreme looseness of the head/hair pieces (with Zombies being really tight and X3 being alright) and the lack of paint and sculpt detail (the Zombies having an amazing level of paint detail, X3 having an amazing level of sculpt detail). There are some good characters in wave 16 but I'm a bit miffed that their pegged hair pieces either, freely spin around whenever they are touched, or fall off altogether. Given the quality of other recent waves it's a bit disappointing.
  11. First two Minimates I picked up were the Classic Wolvy/Iceman pack at Target for one dollar at an after Christmas sale.

  13. Be very, very warry of Toywiz.com, not too many folks have had good experiences with them, myself included. They also have a horrible Better Business Bureau rating.
  14. DC brought me back into collecting minimates, to me they just had better paint, details, accessories, quallity, and character selection then what came before. I've pre-ordered all of DC's sets and haven't received a bad Mate in the bunch, no breakage, no paint slop. I'm looking forward to seeing what new inovations DC can come up with and to seeing improved Marvel-mates...it's a pretty good time to be collecting.
  15. I just pre-ordered a set, it might be a lost cause at this point, but to me these are really good civilian-mates with great part reuse potential.
  16. BBTS now has the sets up for pre-order, $24.99 for each...the cost includes the variants!
  17. I was going to wait until they hit ebay to get a set but just pre-ordered them from BBTS, along with wave 19 & 20.
  18. Also in the TNI pic, though the Question is behind another figure, it looks like the Question is wearing a t-shirt with a shaddow outlining boobs! :o This version also is missing the dress shirt and tie that the classic version always wore.
  19. My thoughts after seeing the photos... Cyborg / Raven I love the classic Teen Titans and to get the most iconic two in one pack is great. Raven looks better than I could have hoped, she is spot on. My only quibble is that it doesn't look like she can be unmasked. Cyborg looks a little rough in the mask and face area but I'm sure they'll get it worked out, it will be a year before these get released after all. I'm looking foward to seeing his blaster arm attachment. One of the cool things about Minimates is how easily hands can be swapped and it's suprising that more mini figures don't come with alternate hands. Sinestro / GL Salaak (4 arms!) Sinestro on his own is great but to get him with a work of art like Salaak is amazing! I'm really really looking forward to Salaak and I really wouldn't consider myself a GL fan. There is so much coolness to him that I can't stop looking...4 arms! Amazing head sculpt! He is quite possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen. The coolest thing about Salaak and their are many to choose from is that it looks like his upper chest/sholders is slightly wider than his lower chest which gives his arms a staggered look and looks to allow all of his arms to hang down neatly and rest by his sides. I didn't really care for Grodd or Clayface in the last wave mostly because the molded parts looked tacked on to the blocky Minimate body. Salaak on the other hand looks sleak with all of his parts well intergrated to his body. This figure makes me very excited for the future of Minimates, it's a bold and smooth step foward. Very inventive. Red Son Superman / Red Son Wonder Woman There are classic figures I'd rather get before Elseworld versions but these two aren't all bad. I do hope, however, that they repaint the faces of these two as Superman really don't look like the stressed, older, slightly evil version in the comic and Wonder Woman really doesn't look meek enough. Right now they look like straight repaints of previous figures we've gotten. They have potential but aren't quite there yet. Modern Batwoman / The Question Batwoman too feels like a Elseworld design as she is a pretty big departure of a older forgotten character, a Ross design that I could see fitting more into the Justice books, and a character who we most likely won't see all that much in the main comics. Figure wise I kind of like the design especially the gray details on black. While I wasn't crying out for a figure of her I'll look foward to adding her to the collection. The Question to me seems badly put together. I usually don't swap parts but I'm going to have to find a dark blue trench coat and a dress shirt with a tie for him to wear. The face seems to be an unpainted minimate head rather than a mask and the hair and the clothes just look really shabby. He looks more like a hobo than the Question, and is probably my least favorite DCD Minimate. All in all with the exception of the Question this is a great wave and a step up from the lackluster wave 7(for me at least)
  20. The new wave has been spotted at Wizard World Chicago and will be... Teen Titians Cyborg / Raven Sinestro / GL Salaak (4 arms!) Red Son Superman / Red Son Wonder Woman Modern Batwoman / The Question (modern) The release date is listed as June 08 link to TNI's Minimate pics
  21. To tide me over until a MAX style Anti-Monitor is released I picked up the DC Direct version. Overall not bad but a Mini-max would look better. COIE shots of the DC collection will look much more impressive, I'm thinking, say around series 12 or so.
  22. I haven't been following along, what are DC's 52 new worlds? Is this a temporary thing or is the Multiverse truly back?
