  1. has Hasbro been saying that? 'cause... they sure don't ACT like it. Between all the "fan's choice" figures in the Star Wars line, and the fact that the 25th Anniversary G.I. Joes/Transformers Classics exist at ALL... i'd wager strongly they've been listening to adult collectors pretty heavily. And then there's the whole "Galactic Hunt" concept to the Star Wars figures... which is clearly aimed entirely and exclusively to the really heavily OCD collectors. Your average kid doesn't care about Darth Malak or Pre-cyborg Grievous... he wants a Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker that he can not only recognize, but he wants "Action Features"... which are notoriously low on adult collectors list of priorities. When they did the Revenge of the Sith line, half the line was targeted... specifically... to adults and was devoid of the "action features" found in the first range, which was composed of "kid friendly" characters. and each line of SW figures that followed RotS, were high-articulation (for SW anyhow), nostalgia-packaging, obscure character filled wave after wave... right up until the recent 30th anniversary which even brought back the Kenner "Collector's Coins" for that little extra push of nostalgic late-20-somethings-with-disposable-income-and-poor-impulse-control marketing. I'd say Hasbro knows their target market pretty dang well. and that market, while including kids... is heavily driven by adults.
  2. yeeeeah, the likenesses are okay... but man, Kubricks always strike me as Lego-men with down syndrome. pass.
  3. yeeeeah, remember when i warned about spoilers?.... What? I was just wondering if I was alone! Just because I post this doesn't mean that people have to look at the picture. Besides, what am I spoiling? I mean the movie is obviously about a crystal skull, just look at the title! (BTW: If I sound angry to you, I'm not. I'm just defending myself.) oh! lol... i didn't mean YOU spoiling it... i was saying that in regard to your question; in that you seemed suddenly spoiled, and that i DID try to warn you. Your reply sounded as though you hadn't heard the big seething controversy about the film's title and potential subject matter... i may have said to much.... It does look like an alien though, doesn't it? lol... yes. for a very, very good reason.

  5. yeeeeah, remember when i warned about spoilers?....
  6. i couldn't believe it when i looked for the obvious "indy 3.75 thread" here, and couldn't find one... but uh... hey check it out! Raiders line Kingdom of the Crystal Skull line (possible spoilers if you're not already slightly spoiled) Vehicles and playsets i'm having a hard time seeing any figures in there that i could pass on... man, and the same scale as Star Wars, G.I. Joe and the new DC Infinite Heroes... i need a second job or something.
  7. Archangel actually has several sets of wings (image link) for two important reasons. One; in the bible, the archangels are described as having multiple sets of wings that surround them to such an extent that you can't ever see their physical bodies. They're just layer after layer of wings. (the Archangel Gabriel has 140 pair!) secondly; one of his new powers after getting the metal wings, was that their size and number is directly proportionate to his anger. the more freaked out and pissed he got... the larger and more numerous (and frequently out of control) his wings got. There was even a moment during the 90s crossover "the X-ecutioner's Song" where he accidentally beheaded a member of the Mutant Liberation Front (Kamikaze, i think) because he got too close while his wings took on a mind of their own.
  8. HA! got it! i knew it had to be an Iron Man/Warmachine badguy... the man in the Yellow and Blue tights is none other than the Spymaster! *Edit* aw damn. TBT beat me to it... my google-fu is not as quick as it once was. But i knew i recognized that emblem.
  9. well the woman is absolutly Gamora which makes sense... since Richard Rider (Nova) has been having an affair with "the most dangerous woman in the universe" in the pages of the Annihilation series. was i the only one who was a big fan of "Warlock and the Infinity Watch" back in the day? lol Not sure who the yellow/blue guy is, but his face-mask looks vaguely Prowler-ish. (although clearly not him. i've seen that world/sword emblem before... but i can't quite place where)
  10. Just saw it this morning... it's funny, i was just telling my girlfriend the other day that if they were going to start doing massive re-runs in wave 3, i didn't understand why at least ONE of those plural spocks/kirks wasn't a "mirror, mirror" character... seemed like such a wasted opportunity. *snoopy dance*
  11. aye, 4-pack... it's much much easier to get a single box set than it is to track down individual two-packs... and to be honest, i'm sick to DEATH of variant-chase-rare-bull****. If they just stopped doing that entirely, i would be a happy happy collector.
  12. CNN has said that the early reports of strewn pills were "in error" and that the containers were for prescription drugs; he was being treated for influenza. It may be an unexpected drug interaction, in that case... since no illegal drugs were found in his system. Sometimes, flu kills people just because it can. http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/01/...dead/index.html personally, i found myself a whole lot more moved by his death than i would have expected otherwise... I don't know why, but he always seemed like a really decent guy to me, and for all it's ridiculousness' "A Knight's Tale" really moved me when i saw it and has remained one of my favorite movies since... It is, oddly enough, possible for someone to feel sad over the death of a person they didn't know personally. Just because he was a celebrity does not invalidate a real sense of loss.
  13. wow, that really does look good! is THIS the kit you used, Spocko? i couldn't find an ebay listing that included the AMT Model #... I have no idea where i'd display the thing, but dang it if i'm not totally jealous now! haha
  14. ya know... once upon a time i was able to quote all five planet of the apes films from start to finish, back to back (and did so on a bet to prove it!)... i can't even begin to count how many times i've obsessively watched those movies... i would KILL for some PotA minimates, dear lord i'd buy cases if they'd give us generic apes for "army building" and not just the main characters.
  15. Furthermore... Cake decorations from your local grocery store can help here too! My girlfriend, after getting the Suncoast Buffy Palz three-pack (which came with a few tombstones), decided what she really needed was a complete graveyard for her mini-slaying needs. Next time we were at the store, she stumbled across a cake decoration kit that had about 10 or 15 tombstones exactly the same scale. They're a little lighter since the plastic is cheap, but i think we only paid like .75 cents for'em.
