  1. Some really nice customs in there. I have no idea who half of these characters are but they're really imaginatively done, especially MODOK and Sugarman.
  2. Only just got around to this thread, some great fun pics in here. Here's a couple of action shots I just took.
  3. Nice, TENIME. I always like your backgrounded photos. I'm not sure if these new customs will get missed in the ToyFair buzz or viewed loads because everyone's hanging around MMMV anyway  but here we go... Agent 47 from the game 'Hitman' - another commission based on something I have never seen/played. This way I get to try out new characters that I wouldn't otherwise, which is fun. The shirt and head are fully painted (as an aside, could anyone tell me why he has a barcode on his head?), the jacket from Bruce Wayne, the guns from Captain Blackhawk and the lighting from Photoshop. In the OAFE Review for Power Girl, the reviewer suggests how the chestpiece could be improved. I think they Photoshopped their image, but mine's done the old-fashioned way by hacking off the bottom half and painting the detail onto the torso beneath. I did actually come up with the idea of using Starbuck's hair before reading this review, as it happens. Black Canary and Zatanna were in desperate need of an update, so got more or less a full repaint (Black Canary's hair is from SM3 Gwen Stacy). Still not happy with the faces, but it's an improvement. Below that you can see the battle of the top hats, with my Penguin repaint. The legs are from Kingpin, the hat and coat repainted in his more traditional colours.
  4. I think it's great, the DCD 'mates tend to have bolder detailing anyway so it fits right in, good job.
  5. The Platoon ones look great for army building, should look really cool with a few DCD Sgt. Rock parts mixed in for variations.
  6. Good luck, hope it all goes well for ye! You'll deserve those Minimates after
  7. I'd love to see your Hawkgirl TENIME, it's always good to see someone else's take on an idea. Some more new stuff here. Below are House and Wilson, from the TV show House, apparently. I've never seen this show, these were comissioned. The designs are based partly off photos and partly off MikeKinD's designs. This was the first time I had really tried to capture the likeness of a real person in Minimate form (the Smallville ones I was a bit less careful with) so I would greatly appreciate feedback. The heads and torsos are painted, the hair on both is sculpted at the front (I cut the front off a generic hairpiece and take it from there). House's jacket is from a 24 Minimate and his cane is from Kingpin. Below is Admiral Cain with Fisk, a quick BSG custom. The head on Fisk is from the 24 season 2 4-pack. I had a spare Cain so painted the white trim on the uniform red, since I didn't fancy my chances painting the blue shoulder logo again. Here are my BSG Raptor and Viper pilots. From L to R: Hotdog (SM3 Eddie Brock head and Peter Parker hair), Crashdown (think that's Captain Blackhawk's head), Starbuck (with CAG Starbuck head), Apollo, Helo, Boomer and Kat (head and hair from that woman in the 24 season 2 4-pack).
  8. I'm not particularly a big Marvel fan, though I will buy the odd Minimate I like, so I'd happily trade Marvel for G.I.Joe. I'd love to see characters like Duke and Flint imagined in Minimate form, and it's sure that there are plenty of other characters (both fan favourite and obscure) to be made. Wonder if we'd get a Snake Eyes in every wave though.
  9. I'm not patient or good at explaining enough to produce comprehensive plans, but if you have a specific question just PM me or post in this thread and I'll try my best to help. Here's another picture of the Viper cockpit detailing. This will probably be my last Galactica spaceship, as I'm all out of decent grey and white bricks now . Anyway, here it is, the Raptor. It can seat two Minimates, with room for a couple more standing. It's a bit of a tight squeeze to get people through the door, so I usually have to take the roof off. Just one seat up front, so it's not really to scale. The only special brick I used for this really was the window from one of the newer Slave I's, upon which I painted the detailing. I also painted on the air vents on the top of the wings. Other special features include a spinnable front cannon, a small flip-open front hatch (which reveals another gun of some sort) and an opening side door. The panels just below and behind the cockpit window also flip open and have a bit of engine detailing inside them, although that's not shown in the photos. Next up is a custom I've been desperate to do since I first saw the Spider-man 3 Minimates ages ago. The first jacket is from one of the 24 box sets, the second jacket and hair from SM3 Peter Parker. The Clark Kent with glasses head is from my original Clark custom, whilst the rest is either painted or normal DCD Superman parts. The background is a cheap display stand I picked up from a pound shop. It's actually quite well detailed. Sorry the pictures are really small, my computer has been playing up of late and can't handle anything much higher resolution.
  10. Great job there, I especialy like all the Zombies.
  11. Thanks, it was mostly built using every decent white brick I have, so Im a bit gutted I can't make another The decorated bits on the side are from the Jedi Starfighter set, and the cockpit is from an X-wing. I think I went on Brick Link a while back and ordered all the decent parts I could possibly need. I'm going away for a few days but when I get back I'll try and put up pics of a couple more views.
  12. Man, it's been ages since I uploaded a new Minimate custom, and today won't break that - instead I have something a bit different. Here's my Minimate scale Lego MkII Viper. I had to add a bit of white paint to the engines at the back and the sides of the cockpit, but other than that it's all just Lego. It's 29cm long if you're wondering about size. First off the front and back shots... Now the different views... Close up of inside the cockpit (with Starbuck). Chief gives the Viper a maintenance check. Helo and Chief admire their ship. And just in case you wanted some more Minimate fun, here you go...
  13. Some of these images are mildly spoilerish so you might want to turn away now, although I don't think it gives away too much. Thanks to everyone who liked the previous Smallville 'mates I did, I was encouraged to have a go at a few more of the characters. First, Lex Luthor and Lionel Luthor. Lionel is one of my favourite characters on the show, so he had to be done. He is based on that BSG guy from wave 2 with the blue suit (I have no idea of the name sorry). I used the hair off that one too. The face is Hawkman's with the beard painted on over it. The shirt is Bruce Banner's, with Lionel's often-worn pink tie painted on over. Lex is standard Minimate, except for a C3 Bruce Wayne jacket. . I sculpted on the coat, and the belt is from Catwoman, with the belt loops sculpted on. The hair is from Kitty Pryde and the face is from Frodo, although the only bit that remains of that is the pupils of the eyes. Still, got to give credit where it's due... Finally, I hope everyone else who saw it loved the season 7 premiere. It was nice to see Superman being a bit more super Anyway, here's Bizarro. The jacket is from Luke Cage, and the belt is painted over Hawkman's. The hair is Iron Man's, with the fringe sculpted on. The head is actually 2-sided. On one side is a bit more smug-looking version of the face from my previous Clark, and on the other the familiar cracked Bizarro visage. Finally, just because I know you'll all want one  , here's a front-on shot of all of em'. I'm already working on Martian Manhunter and the Angel of Vengeance, so keep your eyes peeled.
  14. Thanks for bringing that to our attention Lobsterman, that definitely looks worth a try. Now I just need to decide what part to make!
  15. I use green stuff from Games Workshop. It's good because I find it easier to smooth out than milliput, and less breaky (maybe I just can't use milliput properly). It's slightly flexible when set, making it a bit more durable.
  16. Yep I'm there, I do it too. How else are they going to see out of their helmets? Glad I'm not the only one
  17. It's called Quick Fix super glue and it's not very good so I put quite a generous amount on. Any old super glue should do the trick. Mine was fairly rushed so it's not particularly tidy round the edges, but I basically cut around the rectangular socket part. The paint is Games Workshop's Citadel paints, Elf Flesh and Sunburst Yellow respectively. The yellow needed a couple of coats but was painted over a blank white torso. I usually finish it off with Matt Varnish from Games Workshop too.
  18. Okay guys, spoiler tags will be used from now on where appropriate. Until then, here's a quick little something. I cut the wing socket off the back of Hawkgirl and stuck it on a normal Minimate chest, which I then duly repainted, so now I have a slightly less bulky Hawkgirl.
  19. Don't worry folks, more Smallville stuff is on the way. Until then, however, how about a bit of Green Lantern Corps? After painting over my Kyle Rayner for another custom, I decided to revisit the idea and make a better one. This is his first costume I think, the 1990s one. Also shown is my Galius Zed, or 'Humpty Dumpty' as I prefer to call him. He's the ball-shaped one with three legs who appeared on JLU. I think that's his name, correct me if I'm wrong. Kyle is a standard Minimate with sculpted hair and boots, and the Fantastic 4 gloves. Humpty Dumpty was made from Penguin's fat suit with a a Minimate leg stuck on the back - not visible in the photo, but see a picture of the back here. He also uses Penguin's feet on the front 2 legs. Also, I did a couple of minor alterations to Deadman and Spectre. Deadman has the legs of the convention exclusive Johnny Storm and arms of Twilight Frodo, with the tops painted ed. I was going for a more ghostly effect. With Spectre I painted parts of the face black and replaced his cape and hood with a Von Doom cloak, with a couple of sculpted on modifications.
  20. It'd be nice to see them try their hand at some of the more unusual aliens like with Salaak. Keep them Minimates but try and add a bit of diversity. Also, I'd join the Kyle and Alan Scott queue, and I'd love to see figures coming packaged with transparent green accesories too, I imagine they'd be a popular addition.
  21. I know this won't help but try & use the principle that there are others worse off than you. Minimates here in the UK are generally twice the price that they cost in the US. Yeah if I want to buy DC Minimates in a shop here they usually cost around £5.99-£6.99
  22. It was definitely a struggle to choose just 3, because even if I'm not too happy with how well the final result came out with many of my customs, they were all really fun to make  . If I had to pick again on another day I'd probably come up with another top 3, but here we go; 3. Plastic man is in there, despite me not being too happy with the paint job or the neatness of the modelling on it. Basically I like him because he's fun and a bit different. 2. I like how most of my Smallville Minimates came out, but Green Arrow especially, as I probably spent the most time on him. He has a bit of a resemblance to the actor, and the costume just transferred very well to blocky Minimate form. 1. Mr. Terrific is a favourite, because I think the character has a neat, cool costume anyway. I spent ages trying to get the 'FAIR PLAY' writing on the sleeves and the 'Terrific' on the back, and I'm pleased with how the face expression came out too. Also, it's good to have more members to my JSA.
  23. Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, I'm glad you all like them. Also highly honoured to have them on blacksun1520's background! In response to high demand, I'm currently working on Supergirl, Lex and the Angel of Vengeance (from Season 5). Hopefully I'll do a couple more civilian characters when I get hold of the 24 Minimates. Bizarro will wait until we get a better look at him in the Season 7 premiere!
  24. Cool, thanks for the pics. Is that a ball and socket joint I spy on the wings there? Can't wait to get hold of these.
