  1. Have "Classic Horror Icons" been ruled out? I'm talking: Freddy Jason Chucky Michael Myers Ghostface I know FUNKO has done all of these in POP! And are going to do ReAction for them. So why can't DST do a cumulative line of 'Mates?
  2. Well at least it's single packs and not blind bagged. I didn't really feel like standing around in my local Gamestops feeling bags. I can just grab and go. I think that this is a smart business move though and will attract new buyers to the Minimate brand. I hope these to well enough to expand.
  3. It's true this might not even before the Halloween exclusive. This could be a completely separate license. Who knows.
  4. I love Mass Effect as much as the next guy, but as I said I'm hesitant about this one. I am even ok with blind bags. I just hope they're not Gamestop exclusives. I don't know about the rest of you but I groan at the thought of having to enter one of their stores. All of the ones in my area are dirty and messy. The employees are generally rude and unhelpful too. It's a bad experience all around. I hope they'll be available at specialty or TRU too.
  5. Oh shoot these are single packs aren't they. I'm ok doing the Minimate thing at TRU but I hate Gamestop and I wouldn't feel as apt to buy them if they're exclusive to them. Oh well time will tell.
  6. Click for link. I think it'll be popular among common consumers. Maybe not so much on here. I don't know.
  7. I actually don't want to say what it is because I felt let down by the way I found out. No, I didn't hear it from Vegas. I happened upon it on an online retailer's website. It was a totally weird and random find. Needless to say I was shocked, but now I wish I had actually found out what it is from DST. There's no picture either, just a title. So in the end the whole thing is a bit of a bummer. Trust me. You're better off waiting for the official announcement from DST.. I'm sure there'll be something at SDCC in 2 weeks.
  8. Well...now this is VERY interesting. I didn't see this coming. I know what the new theme is, but I'm not telling. I will see if you guys can guess it. Also: I won't flat out say it since I am not sure Zach and DST want it out there.
  9. That's a great idea! A "current" comic Spider-Man Wave (Superior-->Amazing): Spider-Man / Redesigned Green Goblin Spider-Man 2099 (w/ alternate Miguel head) / Black Cat (or updated Mary Jane) Hobgoblin (classic) / Spider-Slayer (or Spider-Minion) Hobgoblin (Urich redesign) / Spider-Slayer (or Spider-Minion)
  10. I...uh...what... There are no words. I don't know what's more disturbing, seeing Tony and Thor in their underoos, or seeing toy versions of Tony and Thor in their underoos. Yep. The fact that their Minimates definitely makes it worse.
  11. For a second there, you had me REALLY confused. I'd sworn I read that somewhere so it took me a minute to realize what you were getting at. Good gag, buttheadsmate, good gag.
  12. Perhaps this his been answered before, but does DST's license just cover ALIEN(S) or more than that? I'm not just talking the sequels. There is a plethora of expanded universe material. I'm talking comics, novels, videogames, etc. Also, can DST create their own Xenomorph variations like NECA has been doing? If so, that could be an interesting way to pump out the leftover humans. Maybe I'm think too out of the box here, but if this first lineup sells well I could see a generalized theme (perhaps title: "ALIEN LEGENDS") being produced. Here you can get the casual buyers to buy 2-packs for the Xenos and collectors get their humans. I dunno maybe I'm just crazy.
  13. I think Zach's comment of "The ship may have sailed" was directly referring to the ALIEN movie line. If I remember correctly, it was explicitly stated from the beginning that the ALIEN box set was in celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the film. Neither Zach nor DST ever mentioned further sets let alone tell us to expect that line to grow. They did however always state that they had plans for ALIENS as made evident by discussions and control art/prototypes from cons. I think at this point if your interest is solely in ALIEN, filling out the crew of the Nostromo, and not wanting a cool (if incomplete) set of ALIEN 'mates, then you might as well cancel your preorders. Although every set sold adds more of an incentive to continue the line. I do think the ALIENS line will expand though as that movie has many other successful toy lines. I don't know, I guess I'm one of the few people who'd rather have gotten part of a line than none at all.
  14. Zach, With SDCC less than two weeks away, are there any updates on Minimates that you guys will be bringing to your booth? I know the DST Store always sells Minimates, so are any new waves/box sets being released there? I was thinking of stuff that is supposed to release this month such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Aliens Dump. I am so excited to finally be able to attend for my first time this year. I just want to buy more 'Mates!
  15. Wow! That looks great! I want a box set of those four, but I'd rather get older, unmade characters.
  16. http://www.nerdist.com/2014/07/exclusive-todd-mcfarlane-on-his-upcoming-walking-dead-building-toy-sets/ These look pretty good. They look like a good scale for Minimates! What do you guys think?
  17. I just don't think that these types of characters translate well into Minimate form. They're too...what's an appropriate word...Rounded for such a blocky translation.
  18. Well I hope that's not real, but I have a feeling it is. I do agree that they have a very Femme-Fatale look. I have no interest in those kinds of designs/figures.
