  1. Compound Hulk turned out well! You did an excellent job splitting him right down the middle. I've wanted to try decals for a while, but haven't gotten around to experimenting with them. They look great on your custom!
  2. A very neat idea! I like the Captain America where you can see his face, yet the rest of the block still looks icy. Nice work!
  3. Wow! Thanks for all the compliments! In case anyone wants to make their own Invisible Man, here is the recipe: Head: Wave 11 Clear Iceman, generic headsleeve wrapped in thin cuts of painters tape, painted various tones of white Glasses: Wave 1 Bruce banner, painted silver and black Hat: DC's The Question (her hat was wider and looks better with the headsleeve, I sanded down the inside for a better fit Torso: Larry Talbot Suit, painted brown (modified with sculpy to create ascot/bandanna, painted blue/yellow) Skirt: Silverfox (cut with knife and modified with sculpy to include straps, painted brown) Arms: Generic arms, painted brown Hands: 1 Clear hand; 1 generic hand, painted light brown Legs: Generic Black Thanks! Here is the picture you requested, I can't wait until all the monsters are together: Outside of the Invisible Man, Wolfman, Creature, Mummy Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, and the Bride; the only other monster I want to add to my collection is The Phantom of the Opera. I am basing his deformed face off of Lou Chaney's 1925 version: Currently, I only have a Photoshop mock-up, since the body I want to use is from Van Helsing in the Dracula set: His head is a modified Ghostbuster's Janosz. Unfortunately, the long head of the Phantom is difficult to create on a minimate, so that is what I'm working on now. Thanks again for the Invisible Man compliments! --Joe Hill
  4. I wanted to thank everybody for their assistance in this Invisible Man project. I finished the custom tonight, and thought I would show it off. The minimate part I struggled with most was the closed trenchcoat, as hellpop pointed out, there are very few closed trenchcoat options. They are either too bulky, too short, or have ridiculous sleeves. I ended up customizing it by combining a suit top with a dress skirt bottom, and using a little sculpy for detail. He has a removable hat, and a removable sleeve-head bandage. To create the bandage effect, I cut thin strips of painters tape and wrapped it around his head (nice idea homestar17). I opted to not include his rubber nose, since minimates don't usually have noses anyhow.
  5. Thank you everyone, you all had excellent ideas! Buttheadsmate, great tip on the searchable tags on Minimate Database. I could search through those images for hours. I am definitely doing the transparent head under a slip on mask, with a transparent hand. I'm leaning more towards the trenchcoat look over the robe. That is how I remember him from the book. In the movie he is in the robe more, but he definitely looks more intimidating with the hat and coat, and he would fit in better with the rest of the Universal Monsters. The trenchcoat piece seems to be the most difficult. Trenchcoat Thing would be perfect, but he is very bulky. I quickly used Photoshop to create a mock-up of how the Invisible Man would look. Unfortunately, he looks like he gained 60lbs: (A big thank you to Minimate Database for the images!) He doesn't look particularly bad, just bulky. I will research Pegasus Six, Red Skull, Blackhawk's coat, as well as Guy Gardner's top. Once I find a workable recipe, I'll post it on here in case others want to use it. However, it seems like most customizers on here are already pretty good at developing their own figures.
  6. I just realized (I'm a bit slow apparently) that The Mummy boxset won't be released until 2012. Although the card just says the year, no month. (Thanks to crimsonmonkey.com for providing the image.)
  7. FINISHED IGOR: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=9543&view=findpost&p=196279 FINISHED PHANTOM OF THE OPERA: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=9543&view=findpost&p=185704 FINISHED INVISIBLE MAN: My linkhttp://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=9543&view=findpost&p=184091 Hi, Today I was in Toys R Us buying my niece a present, when I ended up buying the Wolf-Man and Creature figures out of impulse. I'm happy I did it because I love Universal Monsters, but was trying to avoid extra expenditures. Well, I failed, and decided to move forward with my collection. I want to add the Invisible Man to my collection, since I have a feeling DST might not reach that far in the series. I was going to decide between these two looks: <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/3464050382_6a7b10ba94.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://www.mwctoys.com/images/review_invisibleman_4.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> (Thanks to the websites that provided images) I was hoping experienced minimate collectors could help me with some parts brainstorming. Aside from having an Invisible No-Hair Sue Storm fill in, or just pretending an Invisible Man was there (but I can't see him), I was hoping to find something along the lines of a <i><b>closed trenchcoat part, hat, sunglasses, etc</b></i>. For instance, the newly released Trenchcoat Thing would be perfect, but I fear his coat is too bulky and would look odd on a regular mate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the consideration! --Joe Hill
  8. I really like Emma Frost, Mystique, and Shaw. Mystique's head is especially well done. I think Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw are nice representations of how their characters would look in a movieverse. I understand the necessity for Magneto and Xavier, and I assume Beast and Havok are the main X-Men. Azazel is a little surprising, but I don't mind him. I really hope for a Banshee and Moira McTaggert 2-Pack (preferably with her in a lab coat).
  9. I think that is my new favorite Iceman. I've never been a fan of the clear look in previous releases.
  10. I'm excited for the Resident Evil minimates too, even if it is just Chris and Wesker. I think the video game could work as their own line. Plenty of characters and monsters, plus zombies would make an excellent army builder.
  11. The movie did not refer to her as Emma Frost, it was Hugh Jackman at Comic Con. Never within the film (or even the ending credits) do they refer to her as Emma Frost, or show her main telepathic ability. Additionally, Tahyna Tozzi (Wolverine Emma) is ten years younger than January Jones (First Class Emma). If Wolverine takes place in the 70's, it makes little to no sense that somebody ten years older would play her in a movie that takes place in the 60's. Despite the fact, I do agree with you to an extent, I was just trying to help some of the other board members iron out continuity, if they so desired. There is obviously just as much evidence justifying both characters as Emma Frost, as evidence denying both characters as Emma Frost. It is all about fan perspective. First Class is a prequel to the first 3 X-Men movies, and I have a feeling they are completely ignoring Wolverine. I believe Bryan Singer wanted to have Emma Frost in the 3rd X-Men movie, before he left the project, and they changed the storyline to be about the cure.
  12. Even if they were, we're playing continuity police here, so it still wouldn't work. They're names are Sophie, Phoebe, Irma (aka Mindee), Celeste & Esma. But personally, I'm in the "She's Silver Fox's boring blonde sister whose name just coincidentally happens to be Emma, and whose powers are the same" camp. The way they worked her into Origins was stupid anyway. Better off retconned. I think based off the promo picture for First Class, they are doing the right thing by retconning. Wolverine Origins Emma was lame.
  13. According to the cast list for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, she was listed as Kayla's Sister/Emma. The only person to refer to her as Emma Frost is Hugh Jackman. So, if a person is having difficulties with continuity, one could argue that Kayla's sister was a different mutant that could turn to diamond. Sure it is a coincidence that two blonde mutants that turn to diamond are named Emma, but it's believable. Acutally, on imdb.com she is cast as Kayla's sister/ Emma Frost, not just Emma. When you click on Emma Frost on imdb.com, it takes you to a list of movies the character has been and it's Wolverine Origins and X Men First class. So Yeah they are the same Emma not two different mutants. I was going based off the film's ending credits, which lists her as "Kayla's sister/Emma," and does not specify her as Emma Frost. IMDB is a great resource, but it is run by fans, which can make it inaccurate in many instances, similar to Wikipedia. It is all a moot point anyhow. What really happened is that the writers/producers for Wolverine wanted to add in Emma Frost for fan purposes. However, they didn't really refer to her as Emma Frost directly, so they decided to reuse her in First Class. Clearly there is an age difference, since Emma is ten years older in First Class, which takes place ten years prior to Wolverine. In order to justify it in my mind, I just pretend that Emma in Wolverine is not the same person as Emma Frost, since the movie itself does not state it as such.

  15. Miss Sinister is about to be a main villain in the X-Comics, isn't she? So she would make more sense at this time, IMO. Besides AOA Sinister can be released with another AOA character.
  16. Thanks for the responses! I gave this set to a friend for a birthday gift (she claims to be the biggest Supernatural fan ever). While she loved set, she couldn't figure out why the angel grave had a trenchcoat... All the parts were leftover from the Buffy PALz line, as I have extra since my current goal is to finish all the major Buffy/Angel characters. The cemetery graves all belonged to the Buffy line, with Darla having the angel (which I modified), Ms. Calendar having the John Winchester grave, and Angel having the cross (which you can't see too well in the photo). The main part of the base is just a cut sheet of plastic with sculpted tufts of grass. TENIME_art, I like your minimate versions! Sam's hair looks perfect for his early seasons look!
  17. It's been a long time since I posted minifigures. These ones are of Sam and Dean from the series Supernatural. They were made from PALz, the now defunct line from Palisades Toys. Sam comes with a cell phone (or ghost detector) and a salt-filled shotgun. Dean comes with the Colt and a flashlight. They are standing on a custom-made graveyard base, with John Winchester's grave, a cross headstone, and an angel sculpture (sculpted to look like a certain looking character...) Thanks for looking!
  18. See... Thats a Wolvie I wouldn't mind buying. Or they could have done a good Weapon X Wolvie. Was Morph a real character? I thought he was just from the Cartoon. I know he showed up in AoA but I didnt think he was from the comic originally. Morph was based on Changeling, which the writers intended on just killing off in the pilot to show viewers that this new series was serious. However, Morph's personality was more comical than Changeling, and was apparently the only person to make Wolverine laugh. AoA "Morph" is just Changeling with a different name. I assume the writers chose to call him Morph as a service to the animated series fans.
  19. Much improved! Especially Invisible Woman, her head looked too cartoony, and her hairstyle (while iconic) was a little too dated.
  20. It looked pretty cool! Nice work!
  21. I'm for an updated Lady Deathstrike, her new look would look great in minimate form.
