  1. I like the announcements made at Toy Fair, lots to look forward to. I'm still hoping for some more Beetlejuice and Gotham minimate news in the near future.
  2. Lately I have been into DST doing movies and TV shows. Stranger Things would be fun, even if its just an Eleven and Demogorgon 2-pack. I also want to some of their vinimates as minimates, such as Beetlejuice, Elf, Iron Giant, etc. Finally, I'm hoping for a new Gotham wave that has Jerome, Ivy, Mad Hatter, and Azrael.
  3. Great picture! I did the same thing with my Banshee's hairpiece.
  4. Great idea! I have a tie for my favorites: MvC Wolverine, because its my favorite post-90s attire. and Wave 28 Wolverine because it feels iconic. My least favorite: Original Giant size X-Men Wolverine. I know, he's cute and a reminder of simpler times, but even back in 2004 I thought he looked silly. Future Wolverine: Hmmmm... I really wanted a better Weapon X and now we got it coming soon, so I'm not sure now. Thanks to MMDB for the photos!
  5. I'm reposting my Buffy/Angel collection since it seems to have been lost in the update. First, the BUFFY good guys: Buffy, Willow, Xander Giles, Anya, Spike, Dawn Oz, Ms. Calendar, Tara, Riley Clem, Buffybot, Principal Wood, Andrew Second, the ANGEL good guys: Angel, Cordelia, Wesley Gunn, Fred, Conner, Lorne, Doyle Kate, the Groosalugg, Puppet Angel, Illyria, Harmony Lastly, the BUFFYVERSE villains The Master, Drusilla, The Mayor, Faith Adam, The Gentleman, Glory, Warren & Dark Willow The Bringer, Ubervamp, Caleb, and The First Evil Lilah, Lindsey, Darla Holtz w/ Baby Conner, The Beast, Jasmine, Hamilton Thanks all who responded previously!
  6. Phenomenal work MINI_MYTE! The poster is perfect!
  7. Thanks, although it looks like with the site update I lost all the Buffy/Angel customs I posted.
  8. While I would love a whole line, a Beetlejuice Minimate 4-pack of Betelgeuse, Adam Maitland, Barbara Maitland, and Lydia Deetz would fulfill so many of my childhood dreams.
  9. I like the arm bandaged to the chest, it makes it seem more "mummy-ish" somehow. Also your Invisible Man customs look great! I'm still sad this line never quite finished with all the classic monsters.
  10. Great diorama! I love all the little details, especially the minimate superhero sculptures on the window.
  11. The site looks great! I'm thinking of getting into decals more, so I definitely appreciate the update!
  12. I love the GotG and Captain America crossover! Nice job!
  13. Thanks everyone for the encouraging words! I'm not sure if I'll make more Batman customs, I'm pretty satisfied with this collection. As for my next custom set, inspiration hasn't struck for a certain TV/movie/video game. Mr. Freeze's helmet (as well as Mad Hatter's hat) are made from the clear cap on top of a mini bottle of glasses cleaner. I got them free from my optometrist. Catwoman is just a modified Black Widow if anyone was interested in making her. I made her hood from a flat hairpiece and sculpey, but the C3 Catwoman's hood might work in it's place. Turtle, I was actually conflicted to have Harley in her Arkham look, her current comic look, or her classic jester outfit. I decided to do the Arkham City look, since I don't like her current comic look (the bleached skin is too Joker-ish). Since DST did a great classic Harley, I thought I'd do something edgier and different. Thanks again everyone for the great feedback!
  14. Update 9/23/2016 Hi all! This is a general thread for my Minimate Custom Collection: Previous threads show my X-Men Moviemates in 2008, Universal Monsters in 2011, and Resident Evil Series in 2011. Below is my Batman Collection. My massive Buffy/Angel custom collection on page 2 here. -------------------- August 2014 Back in 2012, I started to make a Batman Custom Collection after the DC Minimate License ended. Then school, graduation, and career got in the way. I decided to pick it back up and now here is my Batman Collection finally complete! The characters aren't based off one specific time period, but just outfits and looks I liked best. First up, Batman! He is a simple repaint of the released Batman, but more in line of the Arkham games: What is Batman without his family? Robin, Batgirl, and Nightwing are mostly just head & cape modifications. Gordon is done thanks to the amazing decal from Luke at Minimate Factory (perfect facial expression!). Lastly there's Alfred, the ever-trusted butler. Now on to the Arkham Asylum side and check out the villains! I never really liked any of the Jokers released, so I made my own. Catwoman and Two-Face are based off their Arkham City duel. Riddler is mostly based off his animated series look. Finally Harley, who is also based off her edgier Arkham City attire. Next up is Penguin in a modified look from Arkham City. I prefer my Poison Ivy to look more human... not a fan of the green plant skin. I cheated with Ventriloquist & Scarface and used a Lego for the sinister puppet. The Mad Hatter is more of his comic look, and Mr. Freeze borrowed his suit from Tony Stark. This group is the even more twisted of Batman's rogues. Professor Pyg is a newer Batman villain, but his combination of Leatherface, Norman Bates, and Dr. Frankenstein makes him an interesting minimate. Scarecrow and Black Mask are based off their comic looks. Zsasz is somewhat based off Arkham City without all the manacles. The ones in this set are the master manipulators of the group. Finally, these are the minimate villains done by DST. Aside from superficial modifications, they are mostly unchanged... I just thought I'd add them for completion sake. I just finished up the most recent Robin - Damian Wayne. I altered his body to make him a bit shorter and more preteen-like. His hood is removable for two different looks. Here's all the characters on display, I'm sad that DST couldn't continue the license, but satisfied with the end result. (click to enlarge) BONUS: While they didn't make the shelf, I also made Bruce Wayne and Vicki Vale from spare parts. They are somewhat based off their Arkham City looks. Thanks for checking them out! I appreciate any comments or feedback! --Joe Hill
  15. I'm sad to hear that this line is "on hold" by DST. I did a Phantom and Invisible Man a couple years back, as I had a feeling this line wouldn't get to them. Here are the recipes for mine, hopefully it helps you to make your own: Here's my Invisible Man: His trenchcoat is a Larry Talbot suit top with a skirt on the bottom, with a little sculpy to make the fold and waist part. The base head is Iceman, then I got a slipover mask (probably Spider-Man) and wrapped it with medical tape that I got from work. Painted it to look more like cloth wraps. His glasses are from the original Bruce Banner. Also good news, it seems DST will be releasing a robe/trenchcoat that may work perfect: The Phantom is a little simpler. His coat is a modified Series 3 Jean Grey Trench Coat to be shaped like a suit jacket with tails. I printed out a graphic for his undershirt, vest, and bow. His head is modified Janosz figure from the Ghostbuster's line: /POTO_lowervestbelt.jpg.html'> I also made a Mummy (at that time I wasn't sure if DST would release one). He is mostly wraps that are painted, and a graphic head. GROUP SHOT: *Thanks to DST & Minimate Database for the images!
  16. Best news of the day! Revisiting the B&W Bride would be a fantastic idea, especially since many collectors only prefer the B&W versions.
  17. I personally like the movies, some are better than others. I think The Invisible Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Wolf Man are far better than Dracula & Frankenstein... even though those movies are more popular. However, I really don't care to have all the characters from the movies, I am mostly concerned with the monsters and maybe a main person. For instance, it would be fine to have The Phantom of the Opera with Christine, but we don't need the rest of the cast. I would have broken down past releases like this: The Wolfman/Gwen Conliffe Creature/Kay Lawrence (she is more iconic from the film than Dr. Reed) Dracula/Renfield Frankenstein's monster/Angry villager (since he actually was chased by the mob) The Bride/Dr. Frankenstein This would have still spread out the monsters, but given the Universal Monster fans the main human characters they likely wanted.
  18. I'm surprised they are already on clearance, both my local TRUs are sold out. However, the Halo minimates are not moving at all.
  19. I recently went Bat-custom crazy and pretty much have made customs of the whole bat-cast. I had the same issue with the Joker, I thought the hat looked weird on his head and it wasn't working for me. So I just found a random hairpiece that wasn't in use and painted green/white: It looks like it originated from the Ultimate Wolverine: http://minimatedatabase.com/figure.php?i=15&n=Wolverine However, your hairpiece choice really depends on your desired Joker. If you want... earlier comic book clean-cut look: http://images.wikia.com/marvel_dc/images/0/0d/Joker_Earth-Two.JPG later unkempt look: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100806184434/dcuo/images/6/65/Joker.jpg 1960s poof: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JrMAg7gZ5FQ/TMBu6NTMLUI/AAAAAAAAAVE/FViUzerocEY/s1600/66L0001_lg_6_Cesar-Romero-as-The-Joker.jpg Jack Nicholson slicked back hair: http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/13000000/Jack-s-Joker-the-joker-13042638-856-566.jpg Heath Ledger messy long hair http://mutantreviewers.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/dark-knight-joker.jpg?w=400&h=300 etc.
  20. Congratulations! That is definitely something to brag about!
  21. A toothpick end sharpied brown would work for the stake. Here is a Lego hammer that might work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Lego-City-Minifig-Tools-3x-BLACK-HAMMER-mallet-/330436511738?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cef8d07fa
  22. They never really announced him as part of a line or anything, but showed him when they showed off Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, Wolfman, and Creature sets.
