  1. I had a blast with it last year. Count me in!
  2. That's exactly how I feel about it. And it really is cool to hear that you feel like there is room for both. I know it isn't confirmation or anything like that but it's nice to hear something positive about the possibility of getting teams finished. I honestly think that finishing up a couple would make sets like this have a much more positive reception. Both because there would be less for people to draw on as far as unfinished wants go and because there would be a sense that once you buy a 2 pack or box set of a team then you have a reasonable expectation that it will build into something bigger. I know that everyone has their favorites and it's impossible for any company to make everyone happy with every release. So it's not like I'm arguing that either of the Uncanny X-Force teams, GSX team, etc... are better teams or more important or anything like that. I would just like to see them completed before adding to other incomplete teams.
  3. I don't dislike this set. I mean, I didn't read about it and think "pass". But I did read about it and think "why?". Mostly because we've been told that there won't be collector focused characters at TRU going forward. That cuts a pretty decent chunk out of the available slots to release the older stuff that a lot of us ask for & want. Then add in the amount of movie waves and current for a minute stuff like Marvel NOW and the AoA box set and the slots for collector focused stuff just keep being reduced. Then look at how many teams have been halfway done or almost finished only to be forgotten or put off. The track record for following through and completing a team that looks nice in a display hasn't been great. Instead we have several teams that are missing key members. When you start adding up those missing characters, then look at how limited the slots are for getting characters from that corner of 80's/90's and/or collector focused areas, the math starts to look bad when we see four slots that could have gone towards finishing up other teams instead getting to the middle of the road on a team that will most likely be added to the ranks of the unfinished. So it isn't that Capullo X-Force sucks at all. And I'm sure that there are plenty of people that are happy to see this specific box set or any 90's X-related box set in general. Hell, I plan on buying it before even seeing the finished product. It's just that this set doesn't give us a new character and it adds to the problem of unfinished teams instead of potentially solving some of that problem.
  4. This is pretty much how I feel. Not just about 90's X-Force, but about all of the unfinished teams. While the Capullo set is ok there are so many other teams that DST has started and got us to buy into but are still unfinished. And with the recent move to a heavy release schedule of movie products and whatever the new flavor of minute is, it seems that DST has gone Hasbro's route of cutting way down on the classic looks that a lot of people want. And with that being the case, when we do get a few precious slots allocated to the classic looks, it would be nice to see something that was started to be finished instead of starting something new and adding to the growing list of teams that have been left unfinished.

This wave is an absolute embarrassment of riches. Well done doesn't even begin to cover it. The only wish I would have is that it was a specialty release and not a TRU release. Finding these, especially multiples, is going to be a pain. This wave would have easily been a custom case order from Luke.
  6. When it comes to specific characters, I don't factor in race or gender, (or any other labels people use to classify themselves or others). For me it's all about what does the line need in terms of what hasn't been done yet and what *I* want based on the comics I like. Basically, characters that have played large and/or important roles in the Marvel Universe but haven't been made and stuff like Mojo and Spiral because I think they would be insanely cool looking minimates. Based on that, I would rather get a Banshee than have a Bill Foster Goliath. (And for the record, I really want a Bill Foster Goliath... maybe in a Civil War Anniversary box set?) Foster would add diversity in terms of race but Banshee has played a larger role overall and has more history in the pages of the comics. So it's really more about the character than the race or gender that's been the least represented so far. But that's just for specific characters. If we are talking about army builders, then 100% yes, more diversity please. Non-white/male army builders would be great.
  7. Mine would probably be the Wave 41 Unmasked Spider-Man & Green Goblin. I'm not a huge Spidey fan, but Amazing Spider-Man 39 is one of my all time favorite comic covers. The way that you can recreate that cover with this two pack is just so damn cool. It is a perfect set in my mind and represents what an amazing job DST can do with a theme two pack. It's one of the very few things I have an extra of to keep in the box. Add in the fact that the back has a picture of the Mr. Sinister figures on it, which is a huge bonus for me, and it's a lock. As for my favorite packaged two pack, for some reason I love the TRU Wave 4 X-Force Wolverine & Vault Guard. There's something about the black/green color scheme that catches my eye. I always feel the impulse to buy one on ebay when I see it.
  8. Happy Birthday, fellas! Hope you each have a great day.
  9. I feel the same way. There are definitely some cool movie minimates but they're really just secondary to me. Comics based waves are the best that the line has to offer. That's going to be a long few months unless something happens where the next comics wave jumps ahead of a movie wave like The Wolverine W52 did with the comics 50 & 51.
  10. I also had problems with very loose hands. The worst offender was the Logan-san figure. I bought two sets and the hands won't stay in on either of the Logan-san bare arms. Same with the alt. Space Wolverine arms. Other than that, pretty fun set.
  11. I think that's a pretty big point in army building Minimates. In most other lines, you can buy single or multiple figures and build specific armies. If you're a Star Wars collector then you can purchase a Stormtrooper, Joe collectors can buy a Cobra Trooper, etc... And if you look at a lot of the collections of people that collect those lines, you generally see at least a small-moderate group of army builders. Even with kids it seems that way. Most lines don't produce an equal number of villains to heroes so kids and collectors alike seem to buy extra generic bad guys so the good guys have someone to fight and/or have a more balanced looking display/diorama. But that doesn't seem to be the case as much with Minimates. It would seem to have more to do with the way the army builders are packaged. If you use an above example, it doesn't seem like as many people would buy a second, third, twentieth Stormtrooper if they had to also purchase a second, third, twentieth Vader or Emperor to go along with the army builder. The first package sure. Maybe even the second and third if the non-AB has alternate looks or lots of accessories... which is something that I feel like DST is starting to do a really good job with as far as the last few waves are concerned. But at some point people don't want all of the extra figures to get what they do want, which is the AB. The only way around it is to hit up ebay and that usually prices a good amount of people out of the market. That's why I've been a proponent of AB dumps and AB box sets. It cuts out the glut of extra stuff that someone would almost definitely want one of, maybe two, but not excessive multiples. I don't really know the fix for it in regular waves given the two pack nature of the line. Maybe make custom cases that have army builder two packs in them? Have a set of four regular two packs to complete a wave then eight army builder two packs to finish off the case. Although the different packaging needed for the AB two pack would probably cost out over what would be worth it for DST. Maybe change the case ratio to non-AB figures that would normally be packed with the ABs come together in a two pack and then have an AB two pack. Possibly change it to 3-3-2-4 in case you think the more obscure variant figure wouldn't sell. I don't know. It just seems to me that army builders would sell very well in a different configuration.
  12. Bonebreaker would be one of the coolest Minimates ever made. Throw in a Skullbuster, Pretty Boy, and a beat to hell Wolverine with a big X cross to stick him to and you would have a nice little box set.
  13. I've definitely ordered online at all hours of the night. But there is just something fun about the late night toy run. And the immediate gratification would be a nice counterpoint to the 3-7 day wait for shipping every now and then. With all of that being said, I would agree that WM runs would probably end up with nothing more times than not. But I've made many more useless runs to TRU than to WM when looking for lines that are sold in both stores in the past. At least with WM you can grab a gallon of milk or whatever else you need and feel like the time and effort were somewhat justified.
  14. The only argument I could make for Wal-Mart getting these is the possibility of a 24 hour Minimate toy run. Because sometimes you just want to buy Minimates at 3 in the morning.
  15. I would probably have to set up a direct deposit into Luke's account if a comics based army builder dump was released. I hope that a Marvel comics dump isn't too closely tied to the success of a non-Marvel dump release. Those really seem like apples and oranges to me. And the Movie releases don't seem to match up very well either. I army build pretty much every figure that's meant to be bought in multiples. And while I don't dislike all of the Marvel movies, they don't exactly excite me either. Four of five of each has been enough for me to feel like I have it covered with movie based army builders. With the exception of the Chitauri, I should add. But I would buy a ton of SHIELD Agents, (or AIM, Skrulls, Kree, Hydra, etc...), if they were at the army dump price point and I wasn't stuck with an extra figure that I didn't want/need multiples of.
  16. Found a set in Charlotte, NC this morning.
  17. There are at least three or four cases of Wave 15 that have the pegs, (and clearance end cap), on lockdown at my TRU. I'm doubting that I'll see W16 without traveling to a different store. The Marvel product had been moving really well up to this point. I think three cases of W15 were sold then my store did one of those close down and open a new store with a Babies R Us deals. Which is great as far as the store looks. But when TRU does that, it seems like they get a ton of whatever is current at the time the new store opens and have a hard time selling it through. Especially when most of the people that wanted those had already bought them.
  18. Please, no. It's one thing stalking TRU every day looking for Wave 16. But having to hit up Madame Olga's Spank N' Crank Pain Emporium for the bondage TTA set would be too much.
  19. Banshee/Sunfire (GSX) Mojo/Spiral Ronan the Accuser/Gladiator Blob/Toad And I could probably do 10 more waves as well as box sets and con exclusives and still not have all of the characters that I would like to see.
  20. Thanks for the help! Checking IMDB didn't even cross my mind. Not sure about how to go about the diversity of the soldiers though. I'm more of a parts swap than decals and painting type of person when it comes to customizing. I was planning on just throwing different hair pieces on the white guys.
  21. Not to derail the sculpt vs. tampo discussion, but I have a quick question... I haven't seen IM 3 yet and am wondering how many Extremis Soldiers appeared in the movie. I'm not trying to get an exact match or anything, but were there a lot of them or maybe 10 or so? Just trying to figure out if I want to get more of them while they're pretty easy to find.
  22. Hail Birthday! Happy Ivan! Wait.... Happy Birthday, Hail Ivan!
