MiniMate Geekdom at It's Best
buttheadsmate replied to Cappy's topic in Crisis of Infinite Minimates
I bought(ebay) a dose of loose 'mates from a guy in HK recently in about 6 or 7 lots. Each lot, bar one ,had an Iron Man in it. Each one of those Iron Man(Iron Mans ,Iron Men ?) had a head underneath the helmet,obviously.....not one of them was Tony Stark. Whenever I see an Iron Man minimate now (even when I've checked...like yesterday) I have to check for Tony's head . The rest of the 'mates from this guy from HK were fine apart from the Sentry Variants.....they were fine & had no broken knee joints which I now believe is unusual* *sarcasm alert -
Missing rocky hair piece replacement
buttheadsmate replied to winkerbean's topic in TV, Movie, & Video Game Minimates
Yeah that's the right address, sometimes it does take a few days to get back but they usually respond. Maybe it's cos you're overseas? I need to reply to one of their emails later perhaps I could ask on your behalf? T. That would be great, thanks. It's not that they're not responding ,it's my email that's not getting through!I've got a few sets but I'd be happy with anything. -

customerservice@diamondselecttoys.com I've tried this email address more than once with no success ,is it the right one? -
My advice on Kubricks is first of all if you are a completist don't start collecting unless you have deep pockets. Kubricks are generally sold in blind boxes in cases of 24 & contain chase items ,like 'mates these fetch high prices. Secret chases ,which as the name implies aren't even advertised as existing, are included at a ratio of 1:96, these fetch stupid prices. So stick to the common figures & forget the chases & they're quite reasonable & fun. Kubricks are different to 'mates in many ways, I could elaborate but this a Minimates site . For the record I much prefer 'mates but some Kubricks are truly stunning ...check out the HMV exclusive Wolverine Kubrick. As for buying them they are sourced from Japan & I find that Asian ebay suppliers are very reliable & honest. Buy them in sets (often 6) & pay a little extra for the set + chase (7). Go for the secrets at your peril. I'd better stop now ,this is the Minimates Multiverse ,but if anybody wants any help ,ask away !

how many mates do you buy?
buttheadsmate replied to TM2 Dinobot's topic in Crisis of Infinite Minimates
I buy a case of each new wave directly from the US . I buy all 'mates. I started collecting 'mates a year ago & buy exclusively ebay/internet. I am a total completist (including packaging)& it has been an expensive business creating my collection (all sealed MIB) which now contains all but a few promos & 2 certain Spideys .I cannot resist variant sets & rarities esp.C3. I am only able to do this since I drowned the puppies. -
A perfect example of the expression ' It's not winning that's important it's the taking part' .Well done to everyone, including Zombiebay! Great Fun.

Question regarding ebay pre-order transaction
buttheadsmate replied to the4meterman's topic in Marvel Minimates
Currently on ebay there are items that are Pre-orders for Minimates Max Wolverine & Spiderman. These items have been there for months .....they're not coming ,so why take the orders? I have had one dealing with one of the sellers ,P*pul*r C**ics, in a nutshell they're not Popular with me. -
I know this won't help but try & use the principle that there are others worse off than you. Minimates here in the UK are generally twice the price that they cost in the US.

silver surfer and thanos 2 pack question
buttheadsmate replied to fearsom's topic in Marvel Minimates
I hope you'll see where I'm going with this but I also collect Kubricks Marvel Series'. I mention them only because they are similar in stature to Minimates (3") & are a Marvel license(or is it licence). The latest FF2 Silver Surfer has pegs & Hobgoblin has a vehicle as does Prof.X in earlier versions. I have always understood why Marvel doesn't allow 'mates to have vehicles, although I don't like the fact, but then ....prof X has a wheelchair? I suppose the Surfer could carry his board under his arm & re-incarnate himself as the 'Silver Boardcarrier'. Its not so daft really ,we could have 'Ghost PusherofHog' as well . -

I joined the 'verse at the end of 2006 , shortly after buying what I decided to be my first & last Minimate,Santa Spidey! It's September 2007 now & Santa Spidey is being kept company by literally hundreds of his kin. By kin, I don't mean Aunt May or Uncle Ben , I mean hundreds of Minimates. Like a lot of others here, I'm hopelessly addicted! My first American comic (I'm English) I ever read was Avengers #20 *. It was brand new & dated September 1965. It was one of the best days of my life ! Since then I have convinced myself more than once that I've grown out of comics. What a laugh, I still love them. Comics led me to Minimates ,Minimates Central,HQ & ultimately the Multiverse,in that order. I'll apologise to a few people here that I've probably pissed off on ebay by my agressive bidding. I'm sorry ....but I have this need to feed. At least I'm open about it,I'm buttheadsmate, here & on ebay . My other collections include Ma.K,Kubricks & Palz. Palz were my first dabble at collecting & I have them all. Kubricks -I have all the Marvels ,Star Wars etc. including those uber-expensive secret chases. Ma.k -all that I can afford. I mention my collections for 2 reasons . The first is we are lucky that ,with only a few exceptions ,Minimates are affordable (& I won't start on about Target again). Some of the Kubrick secret chase prices are ridiculous. The second reason I mention my collections (& my 'mate collection is my most prized) is I still get pleasure, even now ,collecting. So ,hello & greetings from buttheadsmate . *I was 10 years old!

Is there such thing as a Bomberman Minimate?
buttheadsmate replied to Will Work 4 Mates's topic in Minimates of Licenses Past
Of all the 'mates that I desire the 'bomber is the only one that wouldn't 'sit right ' in my collection. Please don't get me wrong ,the point is ,as you know,it's special to those who were there! Priceless. -
