  1. Isn't Attuma considered an FF villain? Then I could see a Worthy Attuma/X-Namor pack.
  2. Moose and Squirrel would have won the year.
  3. M.Os.D.O.K. - Mental Organisms Designed Only for Kissing.
  4. I'm sure most of you have seen this by now, but this seems like a good place to post them if you haven't. If you like well done live action fan-made Batman, this guy's stuff is hard to beat. And if the Joker looks familiar, it's because it's the late Andrew Koenig ('Boner from Growing Pains and son of Walter Koenig 'Chekov'). http://www.collorastudios.com/projects/bde/bdemain.htm http://www.collorastudios.com/projects/finest/finestmain.htm
  5. CustomCon has always had the "toy fair homage" theme as far as I know. I think it was to generate the same feel and excitement we used to get when toy fair (the NY show, not the mag) would show all these wonderful upcoming toys. It's such a tradition by now that most people don't give the format a second thought.
  6. Saw at least 2 Magneto/Zero sets still at my TRU today. Didn't really look thru all the pegs either.
  7. Besides how exceptional these are, I think the most pleasant surprise was, with the exception of Thor, there was no tape holding in the accessories! Finally, an adhesive free Cap shield!
  8. I saw all of SLUG Zombies wave 2 at Target today. They had the 3-packs for $3.99 & the 12-packs for $9.99. Plus tru.com has wave 1 12-packs in stock. Tempted, but passed. Minimates are enough of an addiction as it is.
  9. Found both these and the new Halo "RvB" wave today too!
  10. I'd be happy with no tape at all. most of the accessories are pretty secure in the blister, sometimes to the point that I have to X-acto them out for fear of breaking.
  11. Maybe have them standing in a puddle of water... or surrounded by smoke/fog from some unknown source...
  12. I'd like to see some kind of companion assortment tied to the original comic storyline, if only to get an updated Wolverine from Days of Future Past. The variant could be Wolverine's Skeleton!
  13. The blue one makes sense to me as a hologram, so much so that I placed it on the holo base the blue Halo chick came with.
  14. As much as I'm looking forward to the licenses for walking dead, battle beasts & thundercats, I'd trade them all in for a ST:TNG line without even taking a breath to consider it.
  15. I picked up some of those several years ago at Walmart, but now they have a different non expanding style. Glad to see these are showing up at some big lots.
  16. They look like Mez-its. How big are they? How many different ones? Looks like 12 pictured on the side but I can't make them all out.
  17. I think this would be pretty cool too, but I wonder if it's just not feasible, since I'd think you'd have to arrange for a licensing deal with the artist in question. I mean, the Thor Stormbreaker box set is pretty darn close to a Walt Simonson set without officially being one, so maybe that's as close as we'll get. And I also wonder if the stock Minimate body allows for an artist's style to really shine through; Torment Spidey doesn't look like he stepped off a Todd McFarlane page, for example. Agree that it may be hard to pull off due to licensing, where Jim Lee now works at DC and there are a separate line of toys called "Kirbys" etc., but the reason that I like the idea so much is that it could allow four packs of really varied characters. It would also allow for variations of the character designs while still remaining true to the character. For example, you bring up Walt Simonson. He is rightly associated with Thor but he also was a big part of the original X-Factor which introduced Apocolypse and Death/Archangel. I realize that those characters have already been introduced as minimates as well, but the idea of a retrospective of an artist's career that had characters that might not otherwise be associeated with each other is very appealing to me. Salvador Larocca, for example, worked on Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, Heroes Reborn, Iron Man, Ultimate Electra, etc. Plus it would be cool to compare John Byrne Thing versus Salvador Larocca thing or what have you. They could easily get around that by doing story-specific waves that a particular artist did. For example a "New Fantastic Four" wave (FF# 347-349) would give us an Art Adams Hulk, Spidey, Wolvie & Ghost Rider. A Fantastic 4 #51-54 story arc wave would give us the FF as either Mike Wieringo or Carlos Pacheco designs. The waves wouldn't necessarily have to name the artist, but the style of minimate could resemble the art from the books.
  18. Forgive me...the question deserved better. If you guys are really THAT interested I can give it some thought and work up a detailed reply... LMK. I wouldn't mind knowing. Certainly more interesting that the same "will we get xxxxx?" questions over and over.
  19. After over 22 years (yes, I've used Photoshop 1, Illustrator 88, cut amberlith, seen the birth of InDesign and the death of Freehand and Pagemaker) holding most Commercial Art titles from Graphic Designer to Art Director to Creative Director to Senior Creative Consultant to Prepress to Computer Graphics Artist to Certified Photoshop consultant, I can say that those 90% are welcome to the freelance work. The best decision I made a couple years ago was to remove the Adobe Creative Suite from my home computer. It always seemed friends and family would hear "artist" or "designer" and immediately followed it up with " I have this great idea! Can you design/draw XXXXXXX for me?" Even at HALF freelance rate, they still balked at the cost for my time. Now I can simply say, "Sorry, I don't have any of that installed anymore." I HAVE considered re-installing Illustrator just to design some new minimate stickers, but just can't bring myself to do it yet. If anyone here is a dedicated freelance designer, you have my respect and admiration. Because at times, it was a thankless job, with copius amounts of stress.
  20. I think Adam posted something in a thread ONCE about the moderators in general. I honestly don't recall what I got through the mail but I'm sure it was Trek related. (Tribbles Kirk?) I came to the board because I was a Trek collector frustrated that, while every other manufacturer was offering figures in 3 3/4" and 6" scales, AA was making figures in an arbitrary 7" scale that didn't fit in with ANY of my other figures. Digger's ego was through the roof. I distinctly remember the only way to get him to answer questions was to lace your posts with F-bombs and random vulgarities. I tried being polite but that's how he posted so I thought, "When in Rome..." And it worked every time. I gave him all kinds of grief about the rubber pants they were putting on ENT figures. They hid the articulation but even AA didn't recommend posing them seated for long. Remember; these were DELUXE figures that came with chairs! Many consumers didn't even know the figures had articulation below the waist because AA never called it out on the packaging. All you saw was a well-sculpted figure in an odd scale that apparently couldn't sit in the chair it came with. It was ridiculous. Not to mention the concerns about how the rubber would hold up. (Anyone remember Furbie Yoda?) So glad I slid over to Minimates. Good times. Speaking of which... How HAS everyone's old rubber-accessoried toys held up over the years? Mine are several states away in storage. How have the AA Trek rubber tunic figures, the ENT rubber pants, the LOTR Toy Biz figures, etc, etc held up? Nothing has torn or deteriorated yet, but they have stained where one may have been lying on top of others in the box and the color transferred.
  21. I'd love to see some sort of episode specific 4-packs as the model. Imagine it this way: TNG "Encounter at Farpoint" - Picard, Riker(beardless), Adm. McCoy, Q "DataLore" - Data, Lore, Dr. Soong, Wesley "QPid" - SDCC exclusive - Picard, Vash, Q, Worf - all in Robin Hood attire Best of Both Worlds" - Borg Drone, Locutus, Riker, Shelby DS9 "The Nagus" - Quark, Nog, Nagus, Rom "Trials and Tribblations" - SDCC - Sisko, Dax, OBrien, Bashir - all TOS uniforms These are just a few ideas, all of them, plus Voyager, Enterprise, movies - all have endless combinations and variations that would work in episode specific box sets. It would keep the line fresh, add in secondary characters that might not get made otherwise, unique ideas for con exclusives, and keep all generations of fans happy. Throw in a dump assortment based around a wartime episode with troop builders (Borg, Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, Jem hadar, with some cool exclusive likeā€¦ Borg Queen or Changeling. I guess I'd love Trek to return, but only all encompassing and all in.
  22. Fount KITT at TRU today! I guess it's the only one in the case as they had 8 on the shelf. Best part - they were $9.99!
  23. I bet the Puppet Master's puppets will be cool little minimate looking figures, which, repainted, could make for some good custom tiny characters (Ant-Man, Wasp...)
