  1. Santos L Harper, I'm dying of envy. Congrats man! Those characters there represent my fave comic book of all-time.
  2. My thoughts and best wishes are with your daughter and your family. Be strong and we're always here.
  3. groundhog, epic collection man, congratulations! minivenom, that's a nice display set-up you got there. I like it that they're deep enough to store the boxes as well.
  4. Excellent job as always Luke. How'd you drill a hole on Iron Fist so cleanly?
  5. ^Wolvie want a cracker? Nice shot Zap!
  6. Dio, if it's any consolation, minimate collectors in the Philippines only have one source for new releases albeit it can be delayed from several weeks to several months. Most of us are resorting to buying online (ebay, MMMV and luke of course). But when I spoke to the owner, he told me that he's going to triple his orders to cope up with the demand. That has to be a good sign.
  7. If I may answer for my friend, jhambhitz is actually a Thor collector, with Silver Surfer on the side. In fact, he's one of the biggest Thor collectors in the Philippines. He just loves Archangel so much in minimate form. But who knows, that might push him to be an Angel collector as well.
  8. Why am I reading the Terminator's lines in Arnold's voice? Great work again!
  9. Welcome brother jhambhitz! Nice to finally see you here.
  10. Welcome squall, glad to see you here!
  11. Congratulations to the winners! And a big big big thanks to Luke and the rest of the organizers... 2 out of my 5 votes won exactly in the category that I voted them for. Yay!
  12. Finally finished voting, that was really hard, particularly the first two categories. Great entries by all! Much thanks to Luke, DST, MMMV, Zach and Storm!
  13. Very cool dios and shots. Is that the micro machine van playset?
  14. Yay, I found a PC that works. If it doesn't make the deadline, all's well. Just wanted to share my work. The highest-selling comic book of all-time...
  15. Good luck to everyone who participated. I made mine, took a week to prepare it and set it up, then tried to upload it to my PC. Suddenly, my PC can't read my memory card. I went out and looked for a computer shop. Unfortunately, it still can't read my memory card. It must be broken. C'est la vie. Hence, I resorted to just typing this and wish everyone good luck. It will be extremely difficult to pick the winner. I'll just post my "cover" in the collection thread.
  16. Thanks for the responses Bob Harris and Luke! All of the entries have been great so far.
  17. In the early 90's, when X-Men was outselling every DC title, the latter had to kill their biggest superhero, Superman just to get back into the game. Twenty years later, they need to reboot their entire Universe.
  18. A quick fix for Omega Red which is too tall and Nemesis which is a bit short. Remove Omega Red's hip riser and put it in Nemesis. The color blends perfectly.
  19. I was in Singapore two months ago browsing the Official DC Merchandise shop in Bugis station. These little critters were there and when I inquired how much, the seller responded with four-nine-nine (in SGD of course). While not cheap, they were affordable so I excitedly asked them for the Big 7. Unfortunately, the line has yet to produce Aquaman. So I settled for 6 pieces (I didn't care for Catwoman, Hawkgirl, etc.). The sellers seem to be ecstatic at my impending purchase. I told them to wait while I browse for some more items. My friend then arrived and while still not finished selecting other stuff, I hurriedly pointed her to my cute finds. What was before an exciting discovery turned to slight embarrassment. Upon checking the bottom of the packages, the price read forty-nine point nine. Yowza! 50 dollars for two inches of plastic?!?!* I just admitted that I heard them wrong and said that I won't buy any of them and will just settle for a shirt. In hindsight and after a quick ebay browse, the store should be the one who should feel embarrassed as they overpriced the product. Anyway, just sharing an anecdote involving little mates. I still want them as I am learning that Marvel has tons of toylines in the cuteness scale. My marvel heroes need some DC counterparts. *I do recognize that for minimates, 50 dollars is not something surprising.
  20. ^Just to be clear, I meant the existing cover replication was posted in another forum or another thread here in MMMV and not as an entry in this contest.
  21. At the risk of revealing my potential entry, I have a couple of questions Luke... 1. Would wrap covers be acceptable? 2. What if a similar cover replication has been already posted before by a different person, would it still be ok to do another rendition of it? It would be very different in the sense that the existing post "might" have used actual minimates to make the cover while I "might" simply draw the cover in minimate form. Thanks!
  22. Oh man, that Spiral is so perfect. Awesome work!
  23. I will complete the Big 7 of both DC and Marvel. So far, I have the five that were released already. I can't wait for DC Series 2 as it will have the Martian and the Atlantean. For Marvel, they have yet to announce a Comic Thor and a Mr. Fantastic figure. I didn't know they have Mickey Mouse and Monsters Inc. I need to have that Mike figure. Btw, do you open them GH7s? I display them loose.
  24. This would be fun. What is your favorite single minimate? I want to say Deadpool, because of his utter coolness and his accessories, but lately, I find myself playing with my Hulkbuster IM more. Maybe because it's not such a chore standing him up. But really singling out one as my fave? I'll take a pass. What minimate/pack did you spend the most money on? For a single minimate, this one (prorated) - Green Lantern and Sinestro But like you I have some more expensive minimates that I was able to acquire for a cheaper price (e.g. Archangel). What was your hardest to find mate/pack that you now own? All mates that I'm having trouble tracking down have yet to become my possessions (e.g. Dr. Strange, Phoenix Rachel Summers, Classic Thor). I had relatively an easy time finding or stumbling upon my rares, save perhaps for Final Battle Deadpool. But still, I got it relatively cheap. What are you looking forward to most out of the newly announced minimates? Thors, mainly because I don't have any Classic Thors. And of course, the obligatory MODOK. What mate/pack do you hope to see announced for next year? I can say DC right?
  25. I freaking love minimates. I dropped Marvel Legends, DC Direct, Marvel Universe and many others over this toyline. Of course, being a collector of the X-Men and the Big 7 of both companies, I retained a select few but the point is, Minimates is the only line wherein I am not limited by my fondness of the X-Men and/or Big 7 and collect whatever strikes my fancy. That being said, I don't think people who offer suggestions, recommendations and even complain are treating it as if it's the end of their world if their favorite character does not get minimated. Likewise, people who complain about Fantomex being released exclusively through TRU does not equate to a mini-grumbler. Like you said Gillbob316, before it was the 90's X-Men, before that it was Deadpool, before that it was Thor. I do think, in a way, even in the smallest of ways, that people requesting for these characters made DST listen, and voila, we got them. Would it offend them so much if people keep requesting for new characters, or would it just signify that the line is alive, and there are more characters to be made, and people crave for minimates? Yup, it wouldn't be the end of my world if they never did MODOK. But it made me happy that they did.
