  1. So I thought i'd update this project as I got significant build time in this afternoon, first things first I apologize for the use of flash in the pictures, it got really late on here and the lighting in the house is incredibly poor, the pictures wouldn't of been worth showing if i'd not used flash. At least you get to see where i'm up to though :-) WIP #1 - Batcave The first thing I want to change is the foundation stud size, currently x6 in height they are too small and Bruce would have to duck to walk through them, I suspect this is a c3 brick to lego conversion thing, I probably miscounted how high the original pillars were, it's not a big deal as its really easily rectified. *Note* if you see any mismatched colour bricks, corner pieces or plates these will be changed to a better colour at a later date, sometimes i've not had the exact grey so i've picked the closest colour, rest assured they'll be replaced in the final version. I've reversed the control room so the monitor is facing the 2nd floor as opposed to the original. There probably will be a second baseboard accompanying this so when that is added it might very well be reversed back to the original position. The Staircase you see is incredibly basic and yes I will be changing it. As noted in the first LDD shots, they were designed this way to get by some of the building restrictions for the software. WIP #2 - Communications & Console Room There isn't much to change, maybe some of the slopes will be redesigned in the final version, i'd like to swap out some of the colours and as above it maybe reverted to its original configuration. WIP #3 Ok first error here is that i didn't anticipate the clock door not opening (ha) but i'll figure that out quickly enough, I also want to redesign the clock too, its a little too basic and i'm sure with some experimenting with the bricks i can get a more accurate grandfather clock/door. I might re-use the method I used for an opening container door on my shipping container build, or go for something entirely different. WIP #4 There isn't really much to change out here, i'm happy with how this part looks, the only missing pieces are the 1x3 bricks in blue that i'm still waiting on, here would be a good point to check the left side balcony over the stairs, this is where i intend to extend the 3rd floor to include Bruce's study. I hope you enjoyed looking at the photographs of the Work In Progress model. I'm pretty satisfied that from this point onwards i'll be able to recreate a fully functional Batcave i'll just keep chipping away at the tasks and things I want to change. As always when I have a significant update on this model project i'll post up pictures and plans. In friendship Rich
  2. So AJV about that picture review on Deadpool and Dante  Any ideas when you'll be doing it? I'm eager to see what you think of them. Rich
  3. Hey Guys I updated my Minimate Gallery folder just recently, I also thought i would share a couple of favourites on here too. Amazing Spider-Man Hawkeye The Joker Superman More pictures similar to this can be found in my ongoing Minimate Gallery link in my signature, the folder is on Photocommunity site Flickr.com Rich
  4. I'd without doubt get A-Team Minimates. Infact i'd go as far as saying I prefer the A-Team over Knight Rider, Ghostbusters & Dukes of Hazzard, but thats just me
  5. Huzzah! I kinda had a feeling my motivational ''addiction leads more than logic'' post would suffice I'm right though aren't I? If we're going to be sensible about our addictions we might as well pack up and go home lol. Congratualtions Lobsterman. I'm actually intrigued to see what it is you spent your $$ on! Rich
  6. Kang Winter Soldier Baron Zemo Blackheart Baron Von Strucker I'd buy these 5 without a doubt, I'm not a completist but i think all 5 of these have made their way into Marvel Universe or Marvel Legends scale at some point. I definately remember having Kang, Baron Zemo, Blackheart & Baron Von Strucker in ML Scale. In the end i opted for Kang, simply because out of the 5 he was the more recogniseable and more desireable for me personally, I really would like to see a Blackheart Minimate, i enjoyed battling him in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance Game and the fact we've had a Ghostrider figure already would be great to see one of his enemies Rich
  7. Yes . . . yes it is When I saw this figure on ebay, I was like ooooh Sinister, I used to have this guy in ML scale and really liked him then, but seeing him on the ebay sellers shop reminded me of your username I'm most impressed with the design and quality, he's definately right up there as one of my current faves.

Rich
  9. I got myself about 7 packages from Bricklink, so i'm just lining up the rest of the pieces to continue my preliminary build on the Batcave  I also got a Parcel i've been waiting on since just before New Year, it was from the USA and the seller had some of them on clearance and low shipping so i took my opportunity in snagging them. I really like the Marvel vs Capcom Hulk, it's angrily cute and the Mr.Sinister is an awesome figure too! I picked up Jack Bauer for the Tommy Vercetti custom I plan to do in a few weeks or so. Rich
  10. what dj87 said, when i get mine up and running properly on display i'll be contributing
  11. Welcome to the Insanity that is MMMV. Well done to the community to have 2000 members.
  12. I've been waiting on Bricklink orders to arrive, so that I can finish my preliminary build of the Batcave, and because I have absolutely nothing else left to do I decided to think ahead to the extension on the 3rd floor, in this room will be a Study for Bruce Wayne, he'll be here when the call comes through for him to make like a bat and save the day with Boywonder I've been making some Lego Furniture on LDD and posting up designs of it in the Lego Digital Designer Pool on flickr, so i thought i'd post a couple of screen caps on here to show you guys if you are interested. Bookcase I plan to have 2 of these, they are 6 studs wide, i might have more depending on the size of the study, i've still not worked out fully how big the study will be, but from the way i was thinking i will have as small archway with one of these bookcases either side of the doorway on the main wall. Couch In front of the main fireplace will be a rug and the comfy couch, across from that will be the desk, lamp and draws/cabinets. I'm sure they'll be a main window somewhere but again this is still early days. The extension will most likely be here: This to me seems the more likely place to have the extension, where the over hang to the stairs is mostly is unused, I think if i move the supporting structure further along towards the control room and add a second support structure as well as archway pieces for support it will be plenty enough to support a 3rd floor study. If that doesn't work I am going to put the study opposite the grandfather clock (3rd floor), which is just above Batman's changing wardrobe (located on the 2nd floor). here is quite a strong location but because it would be an extra floor above the changing area, changing Bruce to Batman could be quite fiddly. So i'm going with my original plan to have the Study above the staircase first. I'll update this again soon when i have more pictures either of furniture, physical model builds or study layouts. Rich
  13. I think personal saving would be the better one, less risk surely, whilst i have many e-friends i can talk to on a regular basis, and i've no doubt experienced some tremendous generosity in the past, there are always a few bad eggs or sour collectors who will look to cash in. That's not me being negative, just stating a fact and being realistic. I would always say personal saving, even at $5 a week or whatever would eventually get you to your target. Rich
  14. Well, My two Grails that cost $150+ are: Scopedog Turbo Custom Street Fighter Round 1 M.Bison *Grey Variant* I'd actually been ok for finances when buying these, i'd researched Bison and lost out on him twice previously to high bids before i finally got him 3rd time lucky, what is interesting is that you seem to want to community to help you convince you are buying something more than just a lump of plastic? I've never personally had this dilemma for something to truely be a grail to me i'd be willing to save for months upon end to buy it, i've never thought about the cost versus the product, the product i've wanted as a grail has always outstripped logial price reasoning. What I would say is 'how badly' do you want the grail? Because if you really really want it, i'd think you'd stop at nothing to get it in your collection. There are obviously some things i probably wont ever afford, mostly because i've allowed myself to be satisfied with the collections I have, also have no qualms about selling out stuff that has lost its attraction value, even sometimes at a loss (in the past). It does sound like you really want this grail item, but the conflict appears to be monetary in that you have allowed logic to take a hold of the situation and are pricing up just how ridiculous it would be to buy this item, of course alot of people would say ''Wow, you spent over $150 on a piece of plastic, you schmuck'' I'd say, ''wow, i know people that have blew more than $200 on a night out and have nothing to show for it but a raging headache and alcohol poisoning'' you can't sell those back on ebay once you're done with them can you? In life we have enough crap thrown at us from every direction, if a chance comes along that makes you happy even just for a couple of months or one year and it costs you more than you thought, as long as it made you happy it really doesn't matter. Whatever you choose i hope its a decision you are happy with, i've also learnt that if you miss out on a grail on ebay, as long as you're patient and keep saving you'll get what you wanted eventually. Rich
  15. Is this DST's fault the comic book shop aren't stocking them? I'm not saying they were in a right to sensor you from the fb page i'm just wondering why the local comic book stores stopped carrying their biggest product. I'd say the best thing would be to chat to that Zach guy that Nessex mentioned, I'm still relatively new again here, I do understand where you're coming from though mate. Theres absolutely nowhere near where I live that carry Minimates at all, we do have Tesco & Entertainer Toystores within about 10 minutes walking distance but they aren't stocking them, my nearest comic book shop that actually stock them is in the main town centre, even though i am registered as Living in Manchester and my town is in Manchester it still takes 45 minutes there and back on a painfully slow bus ride to get there. Factoring into those problems and the fact that i can't always rely on my bowel to behave itself i opt to order online.
  16. First of all welcome back to the immensly awesome world of Minimates, i hope you have fun on the Minimate Multiverse Forum and of course don't forget the database here : http://www.minimatedatabase.com/ We're in the same boat really me and you, I got into them because of the c3 sets i purchased from a friend who was selling them, i'm now back (just recently) rebuying up the ones I missed and playing catchup, learning about some of the newer released MvsC Minimates that Dio mentioned. I hope you have alot of fun collecting them, and hopefully you'll drop by on a regular basis to read and contribute. Welcome back. Rich
  17. I think he should stay on board and change his name to oingyfloingyman best board membername ever! Rich
  18. Regarding my idea on a Minimate Lego Display shelf, i'm sat around waiting for my bricklink orders to be completed (mostly waiting on the mailman really) and i got thinking about a design that i think would be really cool and fairly easy process to do. As with all my models it starts on LDD. The bricks used here are glass and just standard bricks, theres no complicatory hinges or anything so the cost i don't think would run so high. The housing unit seen here would hold 1 minimate figure, its details: Width: 8studs Depth: 3studs Height: 9studs So what you could do would build these in sections, for DC, Marvels and Customs, either onto an existing longer brick or baseplate or as part of an inner room or something. I think they would look amazing like this. I've got many other projects to come before this of course, my priority right now is completing my second order with buttheadsmate through here and obviously the batcave i want to get past the preliminary stages I just thought i'd post up again and show you what i was referring to earlier. Rich
  19. don't think I did any painting on him, its... Nova hairpiece Viggo head a T2 Arnie torso and crotch ... I think the arms and legs are from the orange BSG guys, just with the details painted over. The pixie boots just painted the same colour as the torso and crotch so, a little painting, but not any serious! Wowzers That is a really nice display you have, on those clear display stands have you blu-takked the feet down for the Minimates? When i get a bit more numbers up in my collection i intend to do something similar, but instead i'm lego building a display case instead of standalone plastic. I've not designed it fully yet, or decided on colours and themes or even how i'm going to organise them, but i do like your display, those figures are awesome. I've been trying to focus on DC related villains and marvel heroes that i always wanted.
  20. *Waves*

Hullo. Thanks for the help on the MvsC thread

    :-D

  21. Okay thanks mate, so considering i'm playing catchup again with collecting Minimates i'm prioritising mostly on Marvel & DC characters i always wanted to get  Considering these releases are fairly new i'll have plenty of time to play catchup with these, just hope nobody buys them all  I already have a small amount of Minimates on the way from USA that cleared USPS on the 2nd, i've been itchy to receive them because i've been impressed by how awesome Hulk from the MvsC line looks Thanks for bringing me up to speed. Rich
  22. Nice Review of this set! I do want to pick this up at some point, a couple of things to follow up on if you have the time? You mentioned that the Proton Cannon that comes with Iron Man doesn't fit in his hands properly? Something to do with the sideways grip of the hands included with IM? Has anyone managed to actually pose Iron Man properly with the Cannon? or is this something that was an oversight during design and he wasn't meant to? Secondly i think i know what you mean about Arthur & His shield, what probably would of been better with the grip on the back of the shield is if it was on a horizontal pin so that it could be spun round at any angle. Sort of like what you see with the larger MU or ML figures shields. I'm looking forward more to having Arthur as I'm quite pleased with the IM i have, but as i said in the original MvsC thread i dont mind picking up a couple of Marvels to get newer characters. Have you got any more reviews planned of the other sets? I'm interested to see what you make of Dante/Deadpool & the Mega Man Zero, I've also subscribed via blogspot to follow your updates  Rich
  23. Cat "But a man made from dandruff? it will never work, the first time you take a shower with medicated shampoo you'll disappear!" I'm unsure about these as Minimates, i think those that love the show and watch it but also collect minimates could be a % and too little to sell at mass retail. Although having said that the way forward is if the new show relaunches the series they'd have to jump in there while the Iron's hot. I'd like to get a Red Dwarf crew and a small selection of characters they met in the series.
  24. I'm in total agreement with the last few posts, Imagine Judge Dredd in Minimate scale? I'd totally have to get him.
  25. Wow! I only just started looking at these, whilst I am not a completist in terms of collecting Minimates I certainly like the idea of having new characters, Arthur, Chris Redfield, Mega Man Zero & Dante  I don't begrudge that the manufacturer will use headline Marvel Characters to box with them so they attract a higher audience. Can someone bring me up to speed with this license as in where we're at? ~ i've been out of the loop on this. I checked on Minimate Database about 15 mins ago and i see we've already had Wave 1 & 2. From those I've seen on the database I'd like to get: Deadpool / Dante Iron Man / Arthur There are no pictures for the Series 2 that have been put on the database yet, although the TRU Wave 1 have been put up from that I'd like Magneto / Zero and I think i already will have the Hulk from this wave courtesy of an ebay bid just before New Year. So question if someone could post a link to the pictures or news for Series 3? Is that what is next? Apologies for the noobness here, but theres 62 pages of thread/txt and i'd appreciate if i didnt have to trawl my way through them. I'm geniunely excited to see new Minimate character designs on new characters, even if it means picking up re-released ones we already have from Marvel. Rich Thank you for posting this update, is this wave 3 then? I want that MODOK!
