Philadelphian Priest,Father Richard,was an innocent man with lots of morality,until he became the mutant creature known as THE LOCUST! A troubled young boy,Richard grew up in a bad neighborhood,and was bullied throughout his highschool years. Richard looked to God for solace. Becoming a holy man,Richard took a vow to serve God as well as providing comfort to the many troubled citizens of Philadelphia. But,one night after leaving the church,a freak meteor shower rained over Philadelphia,the same meteor shower that granted NightMan his powers! But,the meteorites that pelted Richard were different..... They contained the DNA of an ancient alien species! Transforming instantly into a half man/alien insect creature,Richards psyche was broken. Wondering why God would let this happen to him,Richard abandoned the church. Feeling betrayed,Richard took the name Locust,after one of the biblical plagues. Locust now terrorizes the citizens of Philadelphia,unless the NightMan has anything to say about it! Once again an "Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia" reference,this mate is based off of the Character Rickety Cricket,with the design based off of Metallo from Superman The Animated Series. Alternate Mutant leg action!

Nightman! Sneaky and mean! Janitor by day,crime fighter by night! Charles Day was just your average janitor at a run of the mill Bar in Philadelphia. But one night after leaving work,Charlie was caught in a freak meteor shower. After being pelted by several of the falling stars,Charles blacked out. Waking up back in his crummy apartment,Charles concluded that it was all a dream. But while getting ready for work,Charles noticed that he had small,round burn marks all over his body. Fearing the worst,he called in sick,and stayed home in order to treat his "burns". That night,while Charles was sleeping,he had a dream that he was levitating over his bed,only to wake up and realize that it was a reality! The meteorites gave Charles regenerative healing and super strength! Keeping these powers to himself,Charles continued to live the life of a janitor. Until one night when closing the bar,he witnessed a young woman being attacked. Using his new found powers,Charles saved the life of the young woman,and soon realized that it was his duty to protect the citizens of Philadelphia,as the NIGHTMAN! Apart from the Obvious "Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia" references,Nightman was HEAVILY influenced by the art style of Bruce Timm. Once the super hero theme was announced,I always knew that my entry was gonna look like it could fit into the Justice League Unlimited Universe,and I think that I accomplished that. Expect more Superhero customs,and maybe a villain for Nightman to fight!

David [Goyer] and I had long talks about it, and Chris [Nolan] and I talked long about it, and I really feel like we should kill Zod, and I really feel like Superman should kill him. The why of it was for me - I go - if it's truly an origin story, his aversion to killing is unexplained, it's just in his DNA. I felt like we needed him to do something just like him putting on the glasses or going to the Daily Planet, or any of the other things that your sort of seeing for the first time that you realize becomes his sort of his thing. I felt like if we could find a way of making it impossible for him, you know "kobayashi maru" - totally no way out - I felt like that could also make you go 'okay, this is the why of him not killing ever again.' He's basically obliterated his entire people and his culture, and he is responsible for it, and he's just like 'I can't. How could I kill ever again?' Even though Zod says to him 'Look there is no way this ends with, like what are you going to do put me in jail? I don't know what are you going to do with me, but I am just going to keep doing this to until you stop me . Yeah, I am, just a killing machine and that's what I am going to do. I had a task before which was to rebuild Krypton, but you've robbed me of that task, the task is gone, there is no chance of that task, so now what am I going to do? All I am is a killing machine? So I'm going to start doing that.' And I wanted to create this scenario where Superman is going to see those people get chopped in half, or he's got to do what he's go to do. And I think Zod knows that. It's almost [suicide in its way] in a way, it is, it's like death by cop, you know in a way. In my mind if Kal has the ability to kill him, then that's a noble way for him to die. It's like that whole "good death is its own reward" concept in the movie. I think if there were more adventures for Superman to go on, you then are also given this other thing, where you don't know 100% what he is going to do. I think that when you really put in stone the concept that he won't kill, and it's totally in stone, it really erases an option in the viewer's mind. Now, I think that doesn't mean that he doesn't now have a code, that he is like 'okay I just can't don't do that, this has to be outside, I gotta find another way, that's how it is,' but again you will always have it in the back of your mind this little thing [of] how far can you push him. If he sees Lois get hurt, or if he sees his mother get killed, you just made a really mad Superman that we know is capable of some really horrible stuff when he wants to be. That's the thing that is cool about him, I think in some ways; the ideas that he has the frailties of a human, sort of emotionally, but you don't want to get the guy mad."

Yeah. Superman should've let the family die so that he could fly around grinning and shout, "I've never killed!" Totally.

Makes better sense to me than just "Lazy writing"

In Superman's defense,he was only Superman for atleast 2-3 days in the film. Now,maybe if he was Superman for a couple years,yeah it would be considered lazy writing. But since Superman is a "rookie" in this film,it can lay ground for his "No Killing" rule,which would eventually turn him into the boy scout we know and love.

Are you also aware that Superman showed IMMEDIATE regret after he took said life? If he was as "edgy" as you think he was,he wouldnt have whimpered in Lois Lane's arms...

Ray's face is good,but I'd go with either of the Parker faces above. Its something about their eyes....

For the face,I would suggest using Unmasked Spiderman's. Hail Ivan. I briefly thought that the lack of anime-style Minimates might handicap me here, but I'm thinking Ghibli's faces might be able to squeak by with many standard Mates. Like Peter Parker, for instance, although earlier Mates might work better. WOW! Looks like we both had similar ideas! Posted at the same time,too! cx
