  1. Does anyone know if the baggie for the Starbuck handed out at the Minimate Panel at The New York Comic Con was different from the one handed out at Toy Fair? My guess is that they were the same, but it's possible they had different labels like the 2003 blanks. I know we (MMMV) didn't have any representation at the Panel, but I'm hoping that someone has heard details or has maybe seen an eBay auction with a different bag. I figured I would ask you guys before bothering DSTChuck with such a mundane question.
  2. It was, like, beep beep beep beep beebeebeebeep Context
  3. Careful... the HAL-9000 knows where you live.
  4. Yeah, they do seem to be selling well. At both fye stores near me their stock was cut in half in a little more than a week. As a result it a appears they restocked in the last few days. Which was surprising to me because I thought the trend items were a 'one and done' deal. I had always assumed that once the initial stock ran out, that was it. Luckily, it appears these are being refreshed.
  5. Guys, don't be that kind of a message board poster, please. Don't be the person that joins a message board they have no interest in just to stir up trouble. If they don't like Minimates, so be it. You're not going to convert anyone by reciting how many POA a figure has. All it's going to do is annoy them and reflect badly on us. All of us. If they have rules against Minimate customs , so be it. Their house, their rules. Let them be. Think about it from their point of view. Would you want some third-grade Shockini fan coming here to The MMMV and saying, "Damn man, I think Shockinis are so much better than Minimates because they have thigh and bicep swivels! You should really try Shockinis because they are more posable. Toxic Avenger rules!" I had some similar advice in the old recruitment drive thread: Don't be a douche.
  6. Sauron was faceless. That's true to the character though.
  7. It's interesting to see the sellers taking advantage of this situation. Let's pick on eBay seller 'maniastore' for example. (190080257222) Ended: Feb-12-07 05:30:53 PST for $24.99 + $4 shipping (190080257245) Ended: Feb-12-07 06:33:39 PST for $27.99 + $4 shipping (190081921257) Ended: Feb-12-07 09:50:54 PST for $34.99 + $5 shipping (190081921486) Ended: Feb-12-07 10:13:30 PST for $39.99 + $5 shipping (190081015227) Ended: Feb-12-07 15:31:15 PST for $44.99 + $5 shipping (190081015843) Ended: Feb-12-07 18:08:13 PST for $49.99 + $5 shipping (190080649602) Ended: Feb-13-07 06:21:59 PST for $34.99 + $5 shipping (190080653032) Ended: Feb-13-07 09:04:55 PST for $36.99 + $6 shipping And currently has two available, one for $42.99 + $5.50 shipping and the other for $45.99 + $6 shipping. Odd how it costs $2 more to ship a minimate than it did a day before. Yeah, yeah I know free market, capitalistic society, blah, blah, blah. Doesn't mean I have to like it. (I would have listed the starting dates for these auctions, but it appears that this seller is one of those shysters that 'revises' existing listings for products that aren't selling and turns them into new auctions to avoid eBay listing fees. As a result, the starting dates don't mean much.)
  8. Oh nice, they're licensed for prop replicas too. I'm glad to see that flux capacitor is more than just booth decoration. Finally I'll be able to install one in my car. I've actually toyed with the idea of making my own 'time circuits.'
  9. I think it's the "D.N.A. Lab" from their Alien Agency line. It's been out of stores for a while, but I remember seeing it last year bundled with a "Hangar 18" from the same line. I bought a couple of the labs on clearance for the brick facade pieces. They are perfect for creating dark alleyways where only ne'er-do-wells and blocky, winged vigilantes dare tread.
  10. According to my partial archive of the forums reideen1313 was registered on October 27, 2003. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the archive before the Great Wipe of Oct 05 so I missing a large chunk of data. I do have all the member profile pages though, so if anyone wants me to look up their registration dates PM me and I'll post it to the wiki. Or I'll give it to you, and you can post it to the wiki. I just finished posting a bunch of dates relevant to the history of Minimates. My inner-archivist is running amok.
  11. Is $50 the MSRP for the Mach 5? My local f.y.e. store has it for $35. It's too bad we haven't heard anything on the Madballs. When that license was announced there seemed to be a fair amount of interest on the toy boards. It sounded like there were lots of people that would get behind this line. Madballs also seems like a product that would go over well at mass, which is where AA keeps saying they want to be. Of course if mass isn't buying, I don't know what AA can do.
  12. For me, it's the Minimate aesthetic that has it's hooks in me. There's something about the look and feel of these figures that compels me. For some reason, the angles and proportions just seem "right." I guess I'll have to break out my micrometer this weekend and see if there are any golden ratios in the Minimate design. There has to be some mathematical explanation... It must be defined... Beauty is truth, truth beauty.
  13. If there's something strange, in your neighborhood...
  14. Can we leave comments for ourselves? If so, I'd like to say that Ivan is a fine, upstanding, and highly respected member of the Minimate community. What he lacks in social graces, is more than made up for with his hubris and sense of self-importance. In fact his ego is so large, the young Luke Skywalker has, on occasion, mistaken it for a small moon.

    I've heard he's quite

  15. Yes indeed. I received a bunch of Series 7 about a month ago. My Royal Guards are standing watch about my Minimate-inhabited Batcave and the Scout Troopers are having their way with Boushh Leia. The Gamorrean Guard and Kitty Pride seem to be having fun though.
  16. Here's the image URL: http://www.comicartfans.com/Images/Categor...t_6060/joe3.jpg You might need to open it in a new window/tab.
  17. Does anyone know the DPCI for these new packs? It's the 9 digit number shown on the receipt, left of the description. It's time to memorize a new one now that 087-06-0845 is on clearance.
  18. I want to throw out thanks to all the particpants, whether they be entrants, voters, judges, or administrators. Especially the administrators. I remember how poorly contests were run at 'the old place,' yet I haven't experienced nor heard of a single problem with any of the contests run here. Thanks guys, this was a fun contest.
  19. SYSTEM is a designation Lego uses to separate their primary sets from, say, their Technic, Racers, Sports, Studio, etc. sets. It's possible you have real Lego there. And inexpensive Lego is a joy to all.
  20. Yes, the Darktide product is an official Art Asylum/DST release. You'll rarely find bootlegs at Target and Toys R Us. There are multiple "Lego-compatible" building brick brands out there, MegaBloks, BestLock, C3, Built-To-Rule, etc. They all exist (or did exist) because The Lego Group's patent on the brick design has expired. So unless these Dollar Store blocks actually had the trademarked name "Lego" on them, they're perfectly legal. If they do have the Lego name on them, record the set number and look it up on Peeron. It may be an actual set that was clearanced out by a retailer or distributor. Lego has made Western and Castle/Medieval themes in the past.
  21. Aww man, are mine broken? I can't seem to get them to play any music at all. Completely silent. Never make a sound. What am I doing wrong? Is there a little button somewhere? Are the batteries dead? What does the Ozzy Minimate say? "I, am, Ironman! Da-nuh na-nuh na-nuh-nuh. Vote for me!"
  22. Are you talking about the Myclone Micronauts? I was surprised to run across this auction this morning. Admittedly I don't run in the Micronaut circles, so you may be referring to some other minis, but I thought I throw that link out there. And Alpheon, Google and Wikipedia have links to vast repositories of information you might find useful.
